Best Quotes

Archive: 25 posts

I wanted to hear your top 3 favorite quotes from any video games.
Here are mine:

1. (Portal 2)
GlaDos: This next test involves turrets. You remember those, right? They're those pale, spherical things that are full of bullets. Oh wait, that's you in 5 seconds. Good luck!

2. (LBP1)
Stephen Fry: Another way you can attach two things is by making a bolt for it. No, no, wait! Come back! That's not what I meant!

3. (LBP2)
SF: The selector also has a 'cycle' input. Not a bicycle, you little sack-for-brains ninny!
(sackboy frowns)
SF: Aww, I didn't mean it like that.

Post away!

I won't put them in an order of preference because I kinda like them all equally.

King Terenas- "My son! What are you doing?"
Arthas Menethil- "Succeeding you, father!" *kills him*
in Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos.

"You know that feeling that I've just overwhelmed you? It's called losing!"
Spiderman in Ultimate Spiderman

"Just because I like you doesn't mean I won't kill you"
Wrex, Mass Effect

"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture, a city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well."

Andrew Ryan, Bioshock

This beats it all, though it's a spoiler to the end of Kingdom Hearts, first of the series. I'll put the whole text and the most interesting part in bold - the bold part I know by heart.

"Take a look at this tiny place. To the heart seeking freedom, this island is a prison, surrounded by water. And so this boy sought out to escape from his prison. He sought a way to cross into other worlds. And he opened his heart to darkness.
-Riku!
-Don't bother. Your voice can no longer reach him where he is. His hearts belongs again to darkness. All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it. It grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came. You see, darkness is the heart's true essence.
-That's not true! The heart may be weak, and sometimes, it may even give in. But I've learned that deep down there's a light that never goes out. So you have come this far, and still you understand nothing. Every light must fade, every heart return to darkness!"

There's another one in KH Birth by Sleep, which is very similar - actually it's just a shorter version of it. Spoiler of the end of KHBBS - Terra's ending to be exact.

This heart belongs again to darkness. All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it. It grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came.

I think I prefer this one because it doesn't say that darkness is the hearts trues essence. This guy's a fool to think this.

Just read the post above. I don't want to make this super long... xD

I love that quote from 'Riku' (Ansem). Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite series. But, as you can tell from my post, I was going for comedy. Not seriousness.

Uncharted 3 - Victor Sullivan: Kid, we don't get to choose how we start in this life. Real greatness is what you do with the hand you're dealt.
Love that quote.

Thats an amazing quote. And what comes after that is awesome too

Thats ingenious. Its fantastic how that relates DIRECTLY into the plot line, but doesnt outtline it.

Daxter:"Nyaaah, grow it out your ear. You were bottle fed, weren't you?"

Skyrim - Guard: I used to be an adventurer like you.... Till I took an arrow to the knee.

That statement was the beginning of internet madness spreading.
I never even got why that spread so much, it sounds serious when you hear it from the guard. But the sweetroll thing, that's what sounds funny.
What's the matter?? Someone steal your sweetroll??

Uncharted 2
Flynn: "Alright, we're in."
Drake: "In like Flynn, right?"
Flynn: "What?"
Drake: "In like Flynn"
Flynn: "I don't get it."
Drake: "Just give me a boost."

All of the Uncharted games have a ton of hillarious parts, but I thought i'd only put this one on

Mother 3 (and the Earthbound series in general) is full of these.

"Should the ultimate Chimera escape from it’s cage, seal all exits and entrances immediately. In the unlikely event it gets outside, use full force… to feign ignorance and pretend nothing happened."

"Mr. Passion threw everything but the kitchen sink at you!"

"Quick! Use the dog as bait!"

Oh, and it also has one of the greatest enemies of all time:

Cobalt Title Screen- "If your being sued for turning someone into a metalface, then you're screwed"

Bastion: Rucks- "Then he falls to his death... na, just kidding"

Rucks- "Look. There's somethin' else. A confession. How come I know so much about the Bastion? Well I designed the place, but that's besides the point. There's one problem with something that sets things back to a bygone time. You can't test it. So you're probably wonderin', if the Calamity already happened, what's to stop it from happening once again, after the Bastion's done its thing? The answer is...I don't know."

I love that quote

and a few more from rucks, these come from when you equip the calamity cannon with each weapon listed
Cael Hammer : The power of the Calamity ain't well understood, but a hammer sure is.
Fang Repeater : Fill them with needles or blast them to bits ? Tough call.
Breaker's Bow : We've fought with bows for centuries. Calamity Cannons, not so much.
War Machete : If there's anything a blade can't split open, a cannon ought to do it.
Scrap Musket : The Kid's loaded down with some of Caelondia's finest firearms.
Dueling Pistols : Anything that gets past that cannon, those pistols can finish it quick.
Brusher's Pike : Long reach and plenty of power. A scary combination.
Army Carbine : Kid makes me nervous sometimes strutting around with all those guns.
Fire Bellows : No matter what he's gonna face out there... It'll burn.
Galleon Mortar : OK, now that's just plain overkill. I mean, come on.

As you may realize, I really like Bastion

GTA San Andreas has CJ saying some funny things when beating up pedestrians:

"I may be rich, but I still ain't a *********!"
"I may look good, but I'm a maniac!"
"I'm not just a ********* you can slap about!"

The quotes change according on your character's weight, clothes and money, and I like it.

I wanted to bump this thread and give some more awesome quotes.

(LBP PSP)
Stephen Fry: Use the L button and tilt the analogue stick up and down to scale it, which means making it bigger or smaller, or "largify" and "debiggerize", if you're strange.

(LBP PSP)
SF: A happy sackperson has a spring in his or her step. An even happier sackperson has a spring in their creations!

(LBP PSP)
SF: A quick press of the action button bolts object 1 to object 2 quicker than you can say, "Light engineering suddenly seems sexy."

(LBP PSP)
SF: Grab switches are the bee's knees when it comes to interactivity. They're the cat's whiskers! They're the chimpanzee's collection of novelty pencil erasers!

(LBP PSP)
SF: Use a grab switch, and place it on something you might want your fellow sackpeople to get ahold of. No, nothing rude. Ugh.

(LBP PSP)
SF: Have a play around with grab switches, because they put the "fun" into "autofunctional predetermined switch mechanism".

(LBP PSP)
SF: "Stiffness" controls how erect your piston is. Ah, ah, ah, now, stop that.

(LBP1)
SF: Now occasionally you're going to get stuck. But all is not lost, so don't get angry and throw your controller at the cat, 'cause he'll probably throw something back, and it'll only escalate from there...ohhh....

(LBP1)
SF: It's time for you to make a scene. And no, not like that time when you made a hissy fit at the pastry shop when they'd run out of croissants. I mean a scene for other sackpeople to play.

(LBP2)
SF: There isn't enough room on that carrot for more than one or two devices? Worryingly enough, that's not the first time I've ever said that.
