Advice on Sharing/Give-A-Way Level

Hello all! I recently became obessesed with JIMMY575's "Thin Object" glitch. Using a slightly modified method from his tutorial, along with the "Twist 2.0" glitch from lve_msg and the Instant Destroyer, I have managed to make a "Thin" version out of almost every object MM has offered, including DLC. (But not the red high heel. It simply will NOT comply, no matter how many I hours I spend attempting to bend to my will. I *HATE* that shoe!) Ahem. Where was I? Ah, yes. Thin Objects! Anyway, I have begun to name and organize them into not only individual prize bubbles, but categories of groups sub-divided into DLC and non-DLC. I have also created a simple prefix system which identifies any important information about the object, such as DLC status, glitch status, what types of glitches used, and if the object was originally donated to the community before it was modified. This allows me to credit any creators both within the level and within the object information screen, lowering the chances of being exposed to the allergy-inducing Troll Whine ("You STOLE this, newb!", "Me and my friend were teh FOUNDERS before you were born!", "Your mother was a SadSackBot!", etc.) Understanding that some Sacks seem to loathe give-a-ways, and knowing that I am not normally a level creator myself (I prefer to spend my time playing OPL, tutorials, testing glitches, etc and these will be my very first time publishing), do you have any suggestions about distribution? Themes? Tips? (I'm a student of the dreaded Thermo-Fever, and am familiar with the mechanics of emitters and sensors.) Any help would be appreciated. I found it. It's JIMMYJ75 | 2011-12-23 21:08:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
With something like this, I suggest getting as many people as you can to play your level when you publish it. Give-aways are notorious for being stolen by other players, who then get more credit than the original creator. | 2011-12-23 21:19:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
Giveaways are lame anyway, but typically because it is the same cycled junk over and over, this seems interesting, maybe explain a little more here so we can be a little bit more excited. | 2011-12-23 23:09:00 Author: Tyranny68 Posts: 390 |

At above, I'd say he's done a fairly excellent job of explaining what he's done. | 2011-12-24 00:45:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |
I found it. It's JIMMYJ75 My bad! Sorry for the mistype. | 2011-12-24 21:10:00 Author: dal-n-pok Posts: 28 |
When I say "thin" what I mean is that even though an object will still look as if it takes up the same amount of space, it's actually "flat". If you take out the ruler object and place it next to, say the electronic cube object, you will notice that the electronic cube takes up two spaces on the z-line, (the space that Sackboy moves within) but the pencil sits flat against the back wall. All I did was apply this property to the rest of the objects. So if you took the "thin" version of the electronics cube and placed it as far back as it will go, it will lay flush to the wall, even though it still looks as though it takes up two spaces. Is there a better term, maybe "2d" objects or "flat"? | 2011-12-24 21:19:00 Author: dal-n-pok Posts: 28 |
I would suggest making a give-a-way level that includes an explanation or short tutorial on how you did this. It's just nicer to the creator community, being able to understand the logic. Sounds like you're organizing your prizes, that's good. I like a give-a-way, but if there's a ton of stuff it's really nice to have it organized. I like layer glitches, often very useful | 2011-12-24 21:31:00 Author: Pookachoo Posts: 838 |
