The Hollows of Thornwood Thicket

Archive: 13 posts

Hey everyone. I just published my new level. I have been working on it since early November. Took some time off from it to make my Christmas levels but now its finished. This level takes place after Darkening Dreams but before Eastern Gate to the Forsaken Desert. You do get a fairly big chunk of plot at the end of this level. All the things from other levels are present here including rhyming dialogue, platforming, a few simple puzzles, hidden point bubbles, hidden secrets, and four golden apples to find. Hope you like it. Any feedback would be great and appreciated.

Thanks guys. Most folks are saying this is the best in the series though somehow it has flown under the radar. I spent a ton of time on this level and would greatly appreciate it if you folks gave it a go.2011-12-25 18:59:00

This is a great, atmospheric level with fun gameplay and light puzzle elements. A treat for people who love Gothic themed levels and fantasy settings as it's very moody but well decorated, and very pretty . Great addituion to your Darkening series.2011-12-25 19:54:00

@KK, thanks for the feedback dude. One level left in the series and that will actually be the ending level. I made this series out of order, but I felt as though there were gaps that needed to be filled in. This level gives away a huge chunk of the plot/ending, sadly when I do make the last one, it probably won't make much sense to players unless they were one of the few to play this one. But I am off to finish up a few other loose ends first...2011-12-27 02:54:00

Like I said in my in-game review, this has excellent level design, stunning visuals and was really fun to play just like the rest of the series.

I played through them all in 1 go it was a really interesting series. If anyone likes ICO they'll love this.

Good work on the level can't wait for the finale.

This is a great, beautiful, well ballanced platformer. It was a pleasure to play this adventure.

Well done :-)

Thanks again for the feedback. Despite a lack of plays, it seems that most folks have enjoyed it. Glad to know people actually don't mind playing through the series still. If interested, the series is in chronilogical order on my earth, only missing the last level which I have yet to start on. Thanks again!2011-12-29 17:27:00

Hey Shookie, this level is awesome. Played it 2 player. Well polished and accomplished. I liked the ICO styled architecture and little guys. Great use of planes - never frustrated but had to have a but of an explore sometimes. Liked the block puzzle in particular. Can't think of any obvious bad points really- maybe could be a little harder. Plus it was less thickety and more castley than i expected

Anyway, loved it.

Look forward to the next one!

@the_EGG, thanks so much for taking the time to play and feedback! As far as the castle/thicket aspect...I had a ton of vines in the level but I had to delete a lot of them because they were too complex and exploded the thermo and made sections in the level disappear. So I went with the tree material and leaves falling instead. Thanks again. Hopefully I will be finishing up this series soon. I think I could literally make this series much longer but I have too many other levels to build.2011-12-31 04:48:00

Another great level in the series. The level is jam-packed with puzzles, secrets and polished visuals that will have players be amazed. There's a lot of great gameplay ideas such as the grabinators puzzle and score bubble combos. The story is epic, too. The music choices and sound effects are well put in this level, especially an epic music made by vivaldi. The score giver use and the secrets are very clever, and I only found half of the golden apples. Looking forward to check out the next installment of the series.

Hey justin, thanks for the great review/feedback. I will say that the next installment will be the last, but if my calculations are correct then I will need two full levels to pull it off. Also, I will have to have a new psn soon because I am close to 20 levels...2012-01-04 15:22:00
