New feature from patch, piston max length limit?

Archive: 21 posts

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't pistons, winches, et al have a maximum "max length" value of 400.0?

It seems the new maximum limit is now 999.9

Oh hey while we are on the subject of pistons, check to make sure the invisible Piston glitch is still there (it is when you bring down the minimum length of the piston all the way down to zero)

Cheers!

Not sure. I do know, however, that the Paint Swith can be set up to a maximum of 500.2008-12-27 21:04:00

I don't think invisible pistons are a glitch, cuz if they were it probably would have been patched by now. Also, you may now grab the ends of pistons and move them, although I'm not sure that's new.2008-12-27 21:58:00

Dude, I was holding it in the bathroom while taking a leak, lol. I even killed it to (I set it to a dissolve block) It took me about 3 minutes to kill, just tapping R1.

Not new I don't think. You just have to make sure that it's not 'Paused'.

Upon further review, it seems the race track's maximum limit has also been raised significantly. I think it's safe to assume that all maximum limits have been raised 2008-12-28 15:51:00

YES! This is my favourite glitch of all. Apart from the 'Cow Glitch' but it died.

THAT SOUNDED DIRTY

Hmm... Anyways, I really never use pistons much. I always end up accidentally gluing them to stuff so they don't work.

I used one in legendary sack part 3 that is 1200.
you could allready make em that long, but the moment you want to adjust the length is went back to 400 or 600.
now its 999 afaik, but still 2 short for that level

holy crap out of curiosity what do you need a piston that long for! I think at most i've needed around 100 or so

Well, for instance, I had a lot of trouble because of the old 400.0 limit in Midnight Train. I wanted to put the scoreboard out of sight in the sky, but have it drop down once you beat the boss. Several times I had to lower the piece of dark matter I was using instead of adjusting the winch, because I could not get it to go down far enough. The new limit of 999.9 should be more than enough now, although it always depends on what you use the piston/winch for.

I've had to hoist a checkpoint up about 700 before :/ I used A piston attached to a little wood, attached to another piston which was attached to the checkpoint.2008-12-29 21:44:00

Does anyone know what the number measurements are? Like centimetres or millimetres. There must be a way to find the size of a sackboy. Like use the size of a standard football, or another fixed size object.2008-12-29 22:57:00

I think it has something to do with grid. One big grid = 1 sackboy high which equals I think 1.0 of the units.

A sackboy is I think 8cm high, if it was in real life. But the actual height is a variable thing. It all depends on how the level references height.

So if you want to reference it to real world sizes, compare it to some of the MM made objects like golf balls, apples and pencils. All of those things are suppose to be to the correct real world scale.
