Excellent level. The difficulty curve is quite reasonable, and the menu system is superb. I was initially irritated that the game did not 'pause' while the menu was open, but after the first few waves, juggling the menu with the ten-second intermission became much more natural.
Here's an analysis for the casual reader:

Graphics:
The game is rather attractive in a rustic way. There are two map choices (woodland and tundra) which both have the feel of a lonely outpost in a rugged wilderness. The turrets are very believable, with neat little visual 'damage' effects. The menu interface is clean, without any useless clutter.

Sound:
Notably, there are four soundtracks available; the player can choose between renditions of the 'Wilderness' and 'Victoria's Lab' themes, the heavy metal "He who Fears the Night", and a custom sequence called "Unholy Confessions", made by another creator (credit is given, so this isn't a negative). I personally recommend "Unholy Confessions", mostly for the variety. There are a handful of basic sound effects in the gameplay and UI; beeps, explosions, the works.

Gameplay:
At this point the game enters the lair of "Your Mileage May Vary", which means that some gamers may love it while others don't. You basically progress through the waves by shooting at the enemy tanks, aided by whatever upgrades that you're lucky enough to purchase. The actual projectiles that you hurl at the enemy are somewhat slow, so there is a slight delay from the period that you shoot to the point at which you hit the enemy tank, depending on the distance from Point A to Point B. Again, Your Milage May Vary; the speed can be interpreted as an intentional tweak to add a bit of strategy as well as an unfortunate circumstance that raises the difficulty.

One major note: At some point in the 'Frost' map (after roughly the fourth wave), the tank spawn area to the upper right (the second one that's unlocked) started spawning infinite tanks, even in intermission. I'm labeling this as a bug that hopefully the creator can fix. :tophat:

In short, this is a good level that will do well with anyone who enjoys a decent turret defense game. I certainly recommend it.

lol, thanks for the review! Theres also a bug that doesnt end the game, but hasnt happened to me yet. As for the bullets being slow, i was thinking about that at some point. And i dont know why Frost does that, as it doesnt do that in Woodland. Ill try and fix what i can. 2011-12-22 06:07:00
