The sackies award are coming back. Spaff and LittleBigPlanet (Spaff under a different name ) twitted about something cool up today. And it would appear after a server update. As noticed by our one and only OneEyedBanshee, when you clicked a level on LBP.me you get a Sackies Award banner inviting you to log in to vote. I witnessed it with my own eyes, but it seem it has been taken down at the moment. Though, expect this feature by today EDIT: ShamgarBlade reported that he had voted.

Haha cool, certainly seems to be a cool idea to let the community vote instead (instead of Mm voting instead and them getting all the hate for choosing the wrong levels). I just hope it's not too much of a popularity contest since the community is voting. However, if the voting sticks to lbp.me, then the more dedicated players would be voting, and not just people who play LBP every blue moon.

Me too can't help but feel it will be a popularity contest, but then again people will only vote for what they know about. I've had a little look and clicking on a level or a creator gives you different categories to vote in. They are: Creator of the year Best gameplay Best use of story Best visuals Best multiplayer experience Level of the year Best soundtrack Best cinematic Best use of PlayStation?Move Motion Controller I already know a few that I will picking later.

Well, of course it will be a popularity contest, like most awards shows. (How else does Twilight win Movie of the Year, if not for voting from the general consumer.). I'd love to see something like this from the Spotlight Team, people who are actually immersed in all levels, at least on LBPC. But its cool to have anyway. What a fun thing to have in a community game. Really cool of MM to arrange.

Wouldn't make sense to choose something as level of the year, and not have it MM Picked. But yeah, it would be great to see some unexpected names, however, it would also be understandable if it was pretty much a list of well known creators. Besides, 90% of them are well known for good reason. . But an "out of left field" choice by MM would be cool.

I have a few for level of the year, etc. At the very least some of these should be nominated. They might not win because they aren't as popular, but I'm sure they'll be happy just to be nominated. Yea the system is quite odd, if there will be many people who can spend time clicking all there favorites it may ad up with list of same known levels, even with popular levels it might end up very random due so close.... it might be good or not And CYMBOL, don't be that sure, you might be suppriced at the end

I just know it is going to be the same levels that are already Mm picked and stuff, even though their are a lot of deserving levels out there that someone booed early and stopped from getting popular, makes me very sad :l But at least most of the voters will be people who actually care a bit more than the regular lbp players.... well hopefully.

You know alot of people will just vote for the most well known creator and just completely ignore the subject of the category. xD Anywho, i was REALLY shocked to find out that my Demented Doodles 3 level is nominated for "Best Visuals". It's pretty scary and intimmidating for me to see my humble simple little platformer level to be pitted against such visually amazing and logically advanced levels D: I thought everyone had forgotten about my level but i guess that nomination proved me wrong lol Good luck to ALL the nominees. <3

When does the final voting close? Based on what has been said, voting should end on the first of March. It may be something like 11:59 PM GMT on 29 February, I haven't seen it explicitly stated. In any case, once March rolls around this goose will be cooked.
