This level is actually quite entertaining. It has a capturing story and characters. I should know, because I helped to build it.2011-12-17 16:28:00

I think that zombie stages get a bad rap because of the sheer amount of them out there. This is actually a pretty good little stage, but I do think it needs some improvement. To begin with it feels a little too disjointed at the start. The cave in/the exploding mine cart and then the flash back, there is a lot of jumping around cutscenes.

The first zombie encounter has some flaws also, there is a layer in front of the crushing blocks so you can just walk around them the paint ball gun pick ups could be spaced more intelligently. The first one at the spawn is an example of this. You have to walk past it (and pick it up) to get to the lever that you need to pull, so you have to drop the gun straight away.

You then head down past two more guns (in the front layer to avoid the crushers) and then get swamped by zombies, that managed to knock explosives at me that killed only me. Having so few bullets in the gun is also an issue as it takes so many to kill a zombie. I can see that the idea is to frantically back up and pick up more paint but by naturally being in the front layer it didn't always pick up the paint.

In the next section you have to drop you gun again to activate the elevator, and then pick up another one up the top only to have to drop it again to push the flame cart. The zombie that rushes out at the cart then seemed to run so close to the cart that the flame did no damage.

Little things like this are not glaring flaws but do add up in the back of a players mind I think.

Over all the design is good as is the actual story, but I do think little things like this could be tweaked to help with the flow of the stage. It was fun though!
