Hey guys, I'd appreciate if you all had a look, Thanks http://lbp.me/v/63mvjf | 2011-12-15 19:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
I played this when you released it and I thought it was pretty dang good. Loved the "darkness" of it and it had/has some great gameplay elements to it as well. I love the character designs and the effects used throughout were quite ingenious. Outstanding job on this. | 2011-12-17 05:20:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
My goodness, this was dark. I must say that this is likely the most horror-driven level that I've played. Here's an analysis, but be warned: This isn't a story for the kiddies. Graphics The level does a good job of showing its scariness, to say the least. The game is set in Geppeto's Workshop, a dark, bloody, twisted version of its Disney origin. The walls are covered in torn wallpaper, painted with blood, and adorned with portraits of demented clowns. As the player goes deeper within Geppeto's lair, the lights start go out and the whole building comes to life, albeit in a 'demonic possession' way. Every so often the walls are adorned with the word "Disney", just to remind the player that this was once a children's story. Of course, the numerous bloody, broken and animated puppets tell another story: no kids allowed. Pinocchio himself seems to have, er, a man's face sewn crookedly over his own wooden head. Ahem. Sound Geppeto's Workshop is treated to some very creepy childlike instruments, with Gregorian-style chanting added for good measure. Every sound effect and musical note seems to be forcefully wrenched from a diseased mind, which contributes excellently to the theme. Gameplay The level plays as a good platformer with some interesting puzzle elements added for good measure. Pinocchio occasionally shows up (sans body) to taunt the player throughout the un-fun house, making it very clear that the ending of the story isn't going to be pretty. Occasionally, the player will be placed on a moving platform and required to toggle some switches on static platforms on the route. The boss battle itself is a colossus climb, which I won't spoil for the curious player. Story Pinocchio has a surprisingly engaging story, which comes in the form of cutscenes and little hints strewn throughout the level. Basically, you play as the hero who ventures into Geppeto's home to stop Pinocchio (a product of dark magic and talented woodworking) from brutally killing off the populace in horror-movie fashion. As you progress through the workshop, however, Geppeto makes more progress towards finishing the evil puppet and unleashing him upon the world. Story Pinocchio is a dark, macabre level which will attract horror fans for its story and the Casual Sack for its light puzzle elements. Once again, however, this level is not for the faint of heart. | 2011-12-22 18:45:00 Author: Unknown User |
