After the Fall: Battle Hardened

Just uploaded a quick demo of my upcoming "After the Fall" series. "After the Fall: Battle Hardened" is a simple showcase of the battle system with some of the basic enemy units you will see in the first episode. Please let me know what you guys think of it. Everything in the level was done by me so if anyone finds any problems please let me know.

I fixed a few issues I found with the weapon system durring multi-player modes. also working on a few more weapons for later.2011-12-14 22:32:00

i wish i was good with this technical stuff lol. i was immediately amazed when i started the level. i love the little com system that pops up a few times. the weapon seems very jumpy when you turn it. idk if you can fix that but it randomly spasms when i try to aim, but it's a mostly usable weapon. i got squished a few times for seemingly no reason when i was fighting the drone things. do they attack you? i couldn't figure out why i was dying...also i ended up under the elevator the first time i played. i suicided but it sent me back to the start point and the doors wouldn't open so i had to restart.

and just as a matter of personal opinion, that elevator took way too long
you don't have to F4F. you could play ginormo burgerif you'd like. i'm not really looking for feedback on it, but i might make a sequel/remake, so suggestions for that would be welcome.

the HUD design is great as is how the guns worked. It was a little difficult to tell which layer I was in sometimes also, and I agree that the elevator ride was too long2011-12-17 21:09:00

Harbinger: Ive been trying to figure out the jumpyness of the aim system for a while and still trying to figure it out. The drones do shoot at you, takes about 2 shots to kill you. The spawn gates will refill your life.

Not sure how you managed to get under the lift but I realized that I didnt make the sackbots die if there is no one controlling them. Thats been fixed which is why the doors didnt open for you.

Harbinger & Mr_Fusion: thanks for liking the HUD, you can blame all the anime I watch for that idea.

I made the lift take so long so that slow readers had time to read all the info on the second time the HUD pops up. Ill try speeding the thing up a little though.

Mr_Fusion: Love your "Back to the Future" stuff. I realy liked your lock box. I didn't care about not having the code, it was just cool to look at.

Also, I've added a shotgun to the weapons. It fires kinda slow so its more for taking out other sackbots (future update) so dont expect much against the drones. I plan to redo the counter numbers later, just used the LBP stickers for now to get it going but they are kinda hard to read.

Any feed back you guys give me is great. Its hard for me to test some of this stuff right now as I am still recovering from wrist surgery, but the cast and pins come off on the 20th (Tuesday)

Ok, after an hour or so of test I got the aiming to be smooth. Turns out I went over board with some logic that was being redundant and causeing the issue. No more supper jumpy aim.

Now I can get back to some of the other ideas I was trying in the past and get those up and running again. Can you say "Light Shield"? Also I plan to make a tutorial vid on all the goodies you can do with my battle system since there is so much Im throwing in the simple prompts at the bottom of the screen are not quite enough to cover it all. Im pulling an all nighter on this too since my sleep cycle is so messed up I need to tire myself out enough to get to bed at a normal time so Im going to appologize now for any oddness that may result from being increadibly tired.

shield is going to be a bit of a pain I think. im starting to remember why I had to abandon the idea before. right now im working on the menu system for the level. this "DEMO" level has taken on a life of its own.2011-12-19 07:38:00

Updated now with a tutorial on how the weapons and such works. was noticing a few play with no score so im guessing some people could not figure out how to work the lift so there is now a hint for that too.

I've got an idea on how to do the sheild thing. Ive also made a nice grenade, but now my problem is controls. Trying to decide how to do both in a simple easy to use way.

For all who have played this and are watching. I have not abandoned this. Ive been revamping the sackbot battle system to stream line it and add more features. Ive started a new thread else ware for all the updates going on here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=66233-Weapons-and-shields). Ok, big update. Level now has easier to kill drones so points should be easier to get. Added grenades and shields. Redid the tutorial with all new info. Please check it out and let me know what you think, what needs to be changed. etc. thanks.2012-01-09 00:16:00
