soooooooo, what happened yesterday with the site? I've never seen it down that long. I was seriously "jonesing" over here and there was no word from anyone. An email, tweet, radio announcement, carrier pigeon, bike messenger, sky writer, something would have been nice. And then, when I check this morning. Yay! It's back on. But there was No Word. No, "we apologize for the lengthy delay" nothing. : /

It went down yesterday but it was a problem with VBulliten, me thinks. I got a database error page. Although I am surprised that no-one has given us any information yet.

I was up at 2 a.m. yesterday, and the site was still up. It went down for me after 8:30. It'd be nice to have some sort of clarification from the mods or CC on this.

soooooooo, what happened yesterday with the site? Logs say the whole server was shut down from around 1:40pm until 1:20am PST, although I have no idea why. I was asleep most of this time, so I didn't even notice. It might've been scheduled downtime by the hosting company, but they would only have informed CC, and I haven't heard anything from him.

wow, a 12 hour down time is pretty significant. You'd think that they would give CC a heads up and he could come on here and make a post informing everyone not to freak out and that the site would be down for maintenance or something.

It might've been scheduled downtime by the hosting company, but they would only have informed CC, and I haven't heard anything from him. Sorry everyone - they had to perform "emergency maintenance" on our server, and didn't take time to warn me before they shut it down. In any case, things are fixed now (according to my host) so we're back up for good. Again, my apologies for the downtime - it was completely unexpected.

Currently i'm experiencing some problems on the site. Same. Almost seems as if whatever the hosting company did to the server yesterday has seriously reduced the disk IO bandwidth, to the point where it can no longer run the site. I've temporarily removed the DB query which seemed to be causing the most problems, but it's by no means perfect. There was also a rather evil web spider hammering the site from 162 IP addresses simultaneously, which has now been blocked.
