I am trying to make a laser projectile with a hologram.

Archive: 3 posts

Hi I am new.

I want to make laser projectiles for a twin stick shoot with the holographic material. My only real obstacle is getting it to fly straight.

I tried adding a Follower Mover and have it follow the tag that was placed at the tip of the hologram. The problem is, doing that it only flies straight if you stay still, but if you rotate and shoot the laser the same time it starts going around in circles... like I "curved the bullet".

I guess if I want to make a Wanted top down shooter I would try that method.

I also tried putting the tag on my vehicle and set the Follower Mover to flee, didn't look good enough. I just want it to go straight.

Any solution would be great, thanks.

You can just use the Emit Velocity setting (can't remember the proper name) of the Emitter, and skip any extra movement related logic on the beam piece. Or you can have a Basic Mover set to Local Space anywhere on the laser beam, just be sure to orient the mover in the direction you want the projectile to go.

You might also want to change the setting of Ignore Parent Velocity of the Emitter, but this is entirely optional

Holographic material can move on it's own with the velocity setting? I always though it stayed still unless you put a mover on it lol. let me go try, and thanks.

yeah, it worked. Now I feel like I have been trying WAY too hard for something so simple. Not the first time it's happened lol.
