Extra layer glitch
Archive: 10 posts
I'm sure there are tutorials here, but I simply can't find any. I found a few youtube videos and have a cascade of my own, so all I really need to know is how to create on the different planes--for example, placing emitters in the extra foreground/background, not just drawing shapes with different materials. Can someone please explain this process or point me to a tutorial that actually does? Thanks in advance. | 2011-12-09 02:55:00 Author: Rainbro Dash Posts: 121 |
here you go oops!, didn't read the whole post before offering my input. Um, I know I saw that somewhere. Did you go through the tutorial section? | 2011-12-09 03:03:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
Ya beat me bio. Here's some more great info. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46908-LittleBigPlanet-2-Tutorials-and-Games | 2011-12-09 03:07:00 Author: Lady_Luck__777 Posts: 3458 |
woo hoo! we must have seen it at the same time Lady. dang, I know I've seen it. I'll have to go dig deep, but I know it's in the tutorial section somewhere. Aha! this might help you out. It was in the LBP1 tutorial section Layer Glitch FAQ - Get the most out of your custom backgrounds/foregrounds (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=323079#post323079) | 2011-12-09 03:09:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I was watching the LBPlanetorial tutorial again and realized that they all say the same thing, just explain it differently (some a bit more confusing than others). One thing none of them are very clear on is what settings to use for the emitter that pushes my object backward or forward. He starts explaining it around 10:30, can anyone make sense of what exactly he's doing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij--bJxovSk Edit: Nevermind, I guess you can't use emitters in the extra layers. | 2011-12-09 03:14:00 Author: Rainbro Dash Posts: 121 |

you work alwas at the back layers first then work your way into the forground. Also note the very back layer you use normally will take up the space of the 3D layer. If you have 2 physical materials in that spot overlaping such as Cardboard they both will break or bouce off each other and crash. Alwas try to create the actual ground for the sackbot first then do 3D after since its easyer for you to overlap 3D over it all. If you do it the other way it will be much harder and you will have gaps between everything. Make the backround first then the forground after in 3D. Step1: Make sackarea such as walking ground Step2: do 3D backround Step3: do #D forground Depending on your skill you can jump between layers and keep overlaping to have multaple layers of 3D. | 2011-12-10 12:02:00 Author: venat Posts: 715 |
Edit: Nevermind, I guess you can't use emitters in the extra layers. Yes. You can. The requirement for an object to emit in the extra layers is that part of the captured object has to be in the 'allowed' layers. This is as simple as making sure that you capture a piece of sticker panel or hologram along with your object. For example: I want to emit a square in the background. I can't just emit the square by itself. Instead, I set the square up in the layer that I want it to emit into, and I then place an extra piece of sticker panel (set to invisible) in the front thin layer. I capture the two objects together and place them in the emitter. Boom! You're done. | 2011-12-10 12:42:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |

You're done. yeah i was thinking that myself but never had the bottle to suggest it. it seems obvious because you have to use an emitter in the first place to get the glitch to work, so it follows that you could do it in real time too | 2011-12-10 14:30:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

I've done it without anything in the "allowed" layers in my Munchy Bunny Bounce, just single layer pieces in the background. (what I said in the other thread) 1: Made the objects I wanted to emit, sent them into the background, and captured as new background objects. 2: Place emitters on a piece of material and sent it into the background. 3: Tweak each emitter (now in the background) to emit the captured background objects. | 2011-12-10 18:17:00 Author: Pookachoo Posts: 838 |
