is sending levels to others possible?
Archive: 16 posts
Hi. well here is my question. Is it at all in any way possible to send people a whole level? because at times for like when you are working in a team, it would be very useful. but if my memory is right... we can't I think. so I'm just wanting to make sure. I know we can make levels copyable... but i don't think there is a way to do that for only 1 or whatever people to your choosing is there? *mew | 2011-12-01 18:33:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz ![]() Posts: 4261 |

You can. What you have to do is copy a backup of the level on to a stick. That should just be one folder called "BCsomethingLEVELsomething" or something similar. Compress that folder and send it via mail for example to whoever you want. The person you send it too needs to have the following folder structure on his memory sticker PS3 -> SAVEDATA Then he needs to unzip that folder you've send him and put it in the SAVEDATA subfolder. | 2011-12-01 18:52:00 Author: Syroc ![]() Posts: 3193 |
as you said make it copyable... but only after you lock it, send keys to those you want to send it to, they copy it, you unpublish the level/make uncopyable It's not ideal but it works Regards Dave edit: hehe beaten to it slightly | 2011-12-01 18:53:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma ![]() Posts: 1414 |

so only people with keys can copy it then? yeah, it stops everything, not just entering the level. like others have said, just make it copyable, lock it, give your mate the key so he can copy it. you can always remove it once he has just in case you are worried you might do something wrong and let everyone copy it. i'm paranoid, so that's what i would do lol | 2011-12-01 19:36:00 Author: GribbleGrunger ![]() Posts: 3910 |
so only people with keys can copy it then? Yep. There's a bug where people can play locked levels for the first few instances after it has been published, so you might want to stick a load of gas in front of the entrance to stop anyone from seeing anything. It's not very likely to happen, though. | 2011-12-01 19:37:00 Author: Ayneh ![]() Posts: 2454 |

It's not very likely to happen, though. I don't really care if they can see anything as long they can't copy whatever. so you can only copy levels while viewing the levels on the planets? meaning you can't copy a copyable level while in playmode playing it right? if so then i suppose i really have nothing to worry about. *mew | 2011-12-01 19:56:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz ![]() Posts: 4261 |
If you lock it and send keys you shouldn't have to worry about anything, but if you are, do the above method and coordinate with your partners and only allow a window of a few minutes for copying... this will minimize the already low risk | 2011-12-01 21:50:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma ![]() Posts: 1414 |

there was a bug that allowed players to play locked levels without the key if they go to your earth and heart the locked level (then do some other things i wont share), but i'm not sure if it's been fixed or not | 2011-12-02 02:23:00 Author: evret ![]() Posts: 612 |
Yohohohoo... MM should had just added a send level to friend option. :S | 2011-12-02 02:30:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz ![]() Posts: 4261 |
Yohohohoo... MM should had just added a send level to friend option. :S would this be possible? if so then i'll add it to my realistic suggestions. i'm not that tech savvy though so i'd need verification from a more learned member. would it be possible to publish a level to a friends moon? that would be the simplest way around this | 2011-12-02 08:57:00 Author: GribbleGrunger ![]() Posts: 3910 |

I've been a active well known member on this forum for a long time now. and i've been a active LBP player and creator for over 2 years. anyways No. what you said is not possible to publish a level to someone's moon. player's moons are not online. if anything yes it would be to publish a level on someone's earth if MM wanted to add something like that. but a problem would be that'd take up someone's earth slot and people could spam others by keep doing that. meaning they would have to make it so only friends could send levels to one another's earth. but there would still be problems that could come from that. if anything, what needs to be added is a option to be able to send backup level data to friends that they could then go to a empty level slot on their moon and push load level backup. *mew But you can already do something close to that if you want to like this guy said. You can. What you have to do is copy a backup of the level on to a stick. That should just be one folder called "BCsomethingLEVELsomething" or something similar. Compress that folder and send it via mail for example to whoever you want. The person you send it too needs to have the following folder structure on his memory sticker PS3 -> SAVEDATA Then he needs to unzip that folder you've send him and put it in the SAVEDATA subfolder. and there you go. but what would be nice is if MM made a more easy version of doing that, a built in game feature of it. then it be much faster and no would need a PC to do it. | 2011-12-02 14:28:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz ![]() Posts: 4261 |
If I can say mine, the safest and most reliable way is what Syroc suggested, I say it from personal experience | 2011-12-02 15:18:00 Author: OmegaSlayer ![]() Posts: 5112 |
