Different Camera Angles on Widescreen TV

Archive: 3 posts

So I just got access to a new tv and was very excited about it. I was trying my newest levels on LBP and I noticed that the cameras I used are not zoomed in as much (probably to compensate for widescreen). Basically, you can now see beyond the boundaries of my levels among other camera related problems. Is this how people with widescreen have always seen them? Also, is there any way to adjust it without having the cameras very zoomed in for people without widescreen. This would also be helpful for me creating since I will be switching from new tv to old one that I still have and I dont want to focus on one part to havbe it look bad next time I work on it. Thanks.2011-11-24 22:41:00

I expect the zoom is the same, but your view port is wider. People with a wide screen will see a little more to the left and right, and a little less at the top and bottom, so ideally you should design your levels a little larger than your usual view port to be safe. Also because two players standing apart in regular play view make the camera zoom out a lot, too. I'm pretty paranoid about this, I always have huge blocks of floor.

I remember this issue came up a few times in the early days of LBP1, but I guess most people have wide screens now, so it's less of an issue.

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll make levels on the widescreen tv since thats what majority of people will be seeing, or at least I'll only do the cameras there. I knew about the multiplayer bit but this was in single which brought up concerns. Hey, maybe when I fix them people will think the levels are of slightly higher quality. Thanks again.2011-12-07 00:19:00
