Top Down Jumping Troubles

Archive: 5 posts

Fairly simple question, what is the best way to make a top down sackbot jump? I understand how you do it (ie, in out mover) I was just wondering how to get it back to theh first layer if it walks off. Thanks.2011-11-23 21:58:00

Press jump to have it trigger a 'move in once' mover, and a count up timer set to a short number, make this timer reset itself and also trigger a 'move out one layer' mover. There is defiently a tutorial about this in the Cliffbo mega-tutorial thread.

If you want it to auto return if you walk off of a cliff you could use a battery to always be 'pushing' to the back layer. Just dont give it any strength. You then make your jump button interrupt the signal flow of the battery and have it trigger the 'move in' briefly.

I'd start with a quick pulse of a counter set to 1 that resets itself, and have the trigger the 'move in' and the inverse of this pulse (NOT gate) hooked up to interrupt the signal.

That's just my first thought though

Hmm. I tried that, but the jump would always stick to the same layer and not really jump at all.

Make sure that the "move to back" (ground) mover is off durring the jumping process, you could also have that (constantly refreshing bottom mover) that Mr. Fusion is talking about shut off during the jumping process too. That way your character would always "fall" to the "lowest" layer unless you jump.2011-11-25 22:12:00
