The Creator's Toolkit is back!

Archive: 12 posts

Hi everyone. Do you LBPCentralites still remember the Creator's Toolkit?

A short history
The Creator's Toolkit was an enormously succesful object filled with tons of tools and chips. Widely acclaimed across the community, and used by many. It is also where the now somewhat famous BRB Box (ever seen one of those?) stems from.
It's goal was, and still is, to be the most comprehensive collection of logic and physical objects that are useful in create mode (we call both of them: Tools).
People all across the LBP2 community contributed to it and it grew and grew.
Don't believe me? See for yourself! Look at the plays and reviews on the old level for the Toolkit. Click here to view (http://lbp.me/v/ye4qhs/reviews?sort=rating) (summary: about 26.000 plays)

That is, until I stepped down from leadership and went looking for someone to lead it. I gave bagheadinc leadership, which was a mistake. He didn't do anything for 2 months. And the Toolkit's popularity, of course, declined. Without any updates or contributions getting checked out for such a long time.
It passed by a few more leaders after that. But that doesn't matter now. What matters is..

The return of the Toolkit
It's back! With an entire team of 9 people and growing backing it! All the old leaders including bagheadinc and me are part of the team.
Here's the level where you can collect it: http://lbp.me/v/1jdvkm

The team's divided into several sub-teams, and one of those sub-teams is called the Validators, whom are the people that listen to what the community wants to contribute and then goes to check out their stuff and validate it. And concerning the Validators, that's part of the reason why I made this thread.

You see, we need Validators. About 15 of 'em. We're gonna try to get the Toolkit as popular as it once was again. And believe me, once it is, we will need about 15 Validators to handle the insane influx of contributions.

So I turned to LBPCentral. There's bound to be some people out here on LBPCentral who fit the requirements for being a Validator.
As a Validator, you get to check out the stuff people want to contribute to the Toolkit and then validate it according to a quality guideline, which is posted in a special level. If it passes the validation, you'll also get to write the instructions for it.
You'll be a part of the Toolkit Team and get all perks for being in it. That means access to our PSN chat. And since you're a Validator, you can contribute AND validate your own logic and tools. Which means, essentially, that you can add your own logic into the Toolkit without having to go through the validation process - because YOU are the validator!

What are the requirements? Well..

You must be able to write clear instructions with solid English sentences.
You must be able to make tidy logic that is readable for not just you, but the entire community.

When a Tool passes the Validation, a Validator (in this case, you) sends it to an Organizer. The Organizer then organizes the Tool into a category inside the Toolkit. So all YOU have to do, is validate the tools and write instructions for them. The rest of the team does the rest.

Think you've got what it takes? Post here! No applications forms or any of that stuff, this is not a job application. Just tell me if you want to be a Validator, and somebody in the Team will go check you out and see if you fit the requirements.

Don't want to? You can help out in other ways!
You can help us make this the most comprehensive collection of logic in LBP2 by simply spreading the word. The more people know about it, the more people who might contribute!

I decided to create a new thread because the old one is quite big and people might get confused by the earlier content.

Sounds great. I am happy to lend support, but do have concerns about the time investment. The part about actively looking is a tad unclear. I guess it's stuff posted in forums etc.

I also may have some logic to submit, none of it is that complex but it may be useful to some people.

I'm in. I love logic and I've always wanted to be a part of the Creator's Toolkit. My PSN is zay916.2011-11-21 20:52:00

@Mr_Fusion I've seen what you can do, so you most certainly can become a Validator. The looking for contributions is simple, really. People post their contribution requests on a special level, and you look at the list of comments on it. Then you join the creators who want to contribute and check out what they have. You validate according to a quality guideline (which is just there to show you what the quality standards in the Kit are -- feel free to do as you see fit)

You just need to say Yes and you're in. I will then include you in the list, invite you to the chat, etc.
We're in dire need of some Validators right now. Contributions are, fortunately, flooding in again! But there are no active Validators that are handling them. The Validators we currently have are doing nothing.. Myself, I don't have time for it.

Here, the special level I was talking about: http://lbp.me/v/7x3d4y/comments
If that seems daunting, don't worry. You don't have to do it on your own. Once the team of Validators is set up, they'll all be Validating so that means you only have to do a small part of what's listed there.
Oh yeah, just wanted to clarify that you do NOT have to dedicate all your time to Validating. Validate whenever YOU like. But don't ignore the community's requests, please.

@Zay916 I'm sorry it's taking so long. I've been very busy before the weekend with work and with internship. In the weekend I needed to relax so I played Skyrim instead of LBP2. Hope you understand.
But you can contact the other guys in the Team about this too. At the moment, these are the Organizers:

WESFUN
iTECHERi
ZeusInTraining
robbit10 (as backup Organizer)

Those are their PSN names.

Glad you got the steer back Rob, as I told you thousand times it wasn't good to leave the project to others.
Glad that you found a group that help and backs you up.
Thanks for your work and best of luck!

Hello there Robbit, I heard of this vast logic group before on LBP2 You guys did quite a well job investing in all those logic chips, I was blown away of how many chips you presented lol.
I am quite interested in becoming a Validator, honestly I am not the best English writer (not even close) I will admit. Yet im quite expirenced at logics for a while now, and I would like to try out for this.
If I can't, I still wish you all the best of luck
Im anticipated what else you have in store for us!

Glad to be a part of the team. I understand being busy lol. I pretty much only play on weekends so no worries. Let me know what kind of chips you could use for the kit. My specialty is sackbots, but i can figure out logic for anything else.2011-12-07 02:13:00

@hershymalcovitch, zay916: Sorry for the late reply. I've added you both on CreatorsToolkit.

Hershy/dahaji, judging by your post here, your English is more than sufficient. Just join CreatorsToolkit (which could be me or some other Organizer at that time), and say that you want to become a validator (or, in case it is me, i'll just start the test). You'll then be tested on English skills and logic understanding. (Just a simple test, really. We pick a chip from the Toolkit and you write instructions for it. That's all it is.)

Zay916, who made you part of the team? I heard word that you had been accepted into the team, but apparantly nobody completed the full procedure - you should've gotten access to our chat, been hearted by CreatorsToolkit, and added to the list of Validators.

Hello Robbit, I was hoping I could be a part of the awesomeness which is The Creator's Toolkit. I, like many, am interested in becoming a Validator.
I'm a huge fan of The Creator's Toolkit and I have a fair understanding of logic.

P.S- On your last post, you said that dahaji would be tested on his/her logic skills, does this apply to all other people wishing to become validators?
If so, what "grade" of logic will I be required to understand?
