If they share mature content people will report it and they will get banned.2008-08-14 01:59:00

I heard that users will be able to flag content. That's pretty much all they can do. :/2008-08-14 02:01:00

flagging will then disable it until it's been moderated.

Really? I didn't know that.

What if someone decided to be a turdmuffin and flag every single level they came across? (surely they thought of this?)

I thought flagging would essentially work like YouTube. You'd have to be over 18, etc, to play it. I much prefer what you say, ryan.2008-08-14 04:15:00

Haha, none of that 18+ stuff in LBP: all levels on the servers should be appropriate for ALL ages.

If you wanted to make an 'adult' themed level, you can keep it on your hard drive & distribute it to your (adult) friends only.

the best solution is this:

anything flagged, is automatically removed and is sent to be viewed by a moderator.

Any person who flags anything will have their id also sent with the "profanty" that is flagged. if somebody goes on a flagging binge the moderators know who is doing it, and can warn, or even disable online lbp accounts. which means no sharing content. purchasable content still should be allowed if it's from official mm or sony, but no flaggable items will be available to a banned account.

now the person banned can send a letter of excuse if it's a little brother who did it or a mean friend.. and the account can be unbanned, but if it is done again, the account will be perma banned.

that seems fair.. that way, people wouldn't dare be turdmuffins, or risk being banned and unable to download other peoples cool content...

what do u guys think?

That's exactly what they are doing. When you flag a level, you take a snapshot of the offensive content, and that along with a bunch of information is sent to whoever moderates it. The level remains online until they decide what to do. Also, if you flag levels repeatedly that don't deserve it, you can be banned, as your information is sent along with the snapshot you took.

I like the snapshot idea..

Hm, maybe this means you can still take snapshots in-game?

Eh, a Sack can hope!

It's absolutely certain that MM and Sony have thought these things over and over. And over again.

So you probably don't need to worry about things like this.

I could swear they said it's instantly taken off? But serial griefers will have their DNAS (IDK?) Chips (Online hardware) banned or something? Or just banned from PSN Idk :S

They should do the PSN. The other option would be the IP Address, but that CAN change and get reassigned. It's rare, but it happens.

There's a chip in every PS3 that sony has access to, and they can just ban the whole PS3 from using anything to do with PSN. Bit harsh, but give them out in the beginning, and people won't do it..

I'm sure that the data that's included with the snapshot contains info on who put what where. If you put up a sticker and then grief the level for inappropriate content, you'd just be pwning yourself in the face.

But isn't it that if u make a level u can set a lock on it so they only can play it and not edit some junk to it ?
Thats what i think just like other games ( like shooter games u can enable or disable teamkilling ) maybe u can enable and disable that 2 ?

So, here's how moderating will work....

If you're in a level and you believe the content is inappropriate press Select, highlight the area where the problem is, describe the problem in a few words, tag it (from a pre-defined list) to narrow down where the problem is, and submit!

From there your submission waits in a queue for moderation. All moderation requests are handled within 24 hours.

If you're in a multiplayer game and somebody is behaving badly, being abusive or otherwise acting in a poor fashion this can be moderated as well. When submitting this kind of report, a transcript of their behaviour is sent to the moderator, so there is no escape from the evidence!

The outcome of a moderator action being made varies depending on the severity of behaviour.

Sounds good to me. I imagine they may have some extra admin help for the initial release. Someone is going to be a jerk as soon as the game comes out, it happens everywhere, and flag all sorts of things just to ruin someones day. The admins will be the ones who really get burned so I'm sure they'd rather ban or whatnot whoever is being the jerk and put the levels back up. I'd hate to be in their shoes.

How would they perma ban someone though? You can ban a psn id but a dedicated jerk will make another. It's hard to ban an IP since a lot of people have dynamic IP addresses. I tiny file would work. If someones a jerk they get the "update" before they can login that would tell the servers if its the same guy with a new PSN ID. I wonder if that would cross any legal boundaries though. Doubt it.

I was under the impression that the flagged item is pulled from the server until they've decided what to do with it. That would prevent further flooding of the admins boxes and other people seeing the objectionable material. Correct me if I'm wrong. Things seem to change so fast and I'm behind the curve a bit.

Once again I'm guessing, sorry for the multiple posts, but I imagine the sticker placed on the map would not be on the original one you download from the server. If someone stuck the sticker and flagged it, and the snapshot is like a picture rather than data, it would still be easy to verify by checking out the level on the server.

I think the snapshot or whatnot may be or be accompanied by data. So the sticker in question would have a digital tag of the person who sent the complaint proving he placed it there.

hey, if you can't use the online service the way it was meant to be used, and abuse it to potentially get minors to see inappropriate things... you don't deserve online abilities. any account that sends inappropriate content more then once, should be banned... no questions

this way any person even thinking about it better be ready to make his own content instead of getting other peoples... trust me, if they do end up using this method, you can bet this will be a very rare, or non existent problem.

and i think there might be a flaw with the snapshot idea... you could potentially make content that looks appropriate in the angle the snapshot was shot in, and in a diffrent angle may look inappropriate. playing with the item in a level, and being able to see it from every angle, will take longer, but it will insure nothing hiding in the middle that gets set off when you walk by it.

anybody else know what i mean?

SamProtagonist posted this on the PSN.

Banning

While I'm not going to go into the nitty gritty of SCE moderation policy, there is a sliding scale of bans that can be applied ranging from one day to permanent, in a single game, to everything and more besides.

The simple fact of the matter is that it's neither big nor clever to break acceptable usage rules, and doing so could result in your content being removed, online publishing privileges revoked, PSN account banned or worse. So if you're considering being that kind of user... don't
