How do you get much people playing your levels?
Archive: 32 posts
I always wondered... Sometimes even bad levels get 1000 hits ![]() This doesn't mean I could get 1000 views (maybe) but at least 50. How do I get more views ![]() One of my levels has got 100 plays. That's pretty nice ![]() | 2011-11-19 10:45:00 Author: Yassinius ![]() Posts: 68 |
I'm also wondering. Probably, just by advertising on every possible place? | 2011-11-19 14:25:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
That could help ![]() | 2011-11-19 14:30:00 Author: Yassinius ![]() Posts: 68 |
take a look at my sig. I am a member of several LBP forums and this is the sig I use at all of them. I've never posted this level in the "please play my level" sections of the sites. I'm just an active poster at the forums and the sig is free advertisement. I know it's not a good level and maybe the 182 play count is not that much to some, but to me, I'm like WOW! 182 people played my level! Also, please no double posting. Click the "edit" button on your post and add in what you need to. | 2011-11-19 14:31:00 Author: biorogue ![]() Posts: 8424 |
How do I get that Sig? That sounds handy ![]() | 2011-11-19 14:56:00 Author: Yassinius ![]() Posts: 68 |
You can get one on LBP.ME | 2011-11-19 15:25:00 Author: Acrokids ![]() Posts: 14 |
where on Lbp.me? edit:Oh, wait I now it ![]() Are there more ways to get more people playing your levels? | 2011-11-19 15:32:00 Author: Yassinius ![]() Posts: 68 |
You can get one on LBP.ME no, you do not get it from LBP.me you get it from LBP2Blog. go here and fill in the necessary info and one will be generated for you LBP.me Level Sig Maker (http://lbp-me.lbp2blog.com/sigs/) one other thing to note. You'll notice that in your sig, when you click on it, it takes you to a picture of your sig. When you click on my signature it takes you to my level. This is why. The code they give you looks like this: http://lbp-me.lbp2blog.com/sigs/level/7we1qe/8/0/sig.png (http://lbp.me/v/7we1qe) notice the "[IMG] and [/ IMG]" add "LINK" after the "IMG" and it will link to your level. Like this: http://lbp-me.lbp2blog.com/sigs/level/7we1qe/8/0/sig.png (http://lbp.me/v/7we1qe) also, all the sigs from there look like this in celebration of LBPodcast 3rd birthday celebration. They should go back to normal next week. | 2011-11-19 15:48:00 Author: biorogue ![]() Posts: 8424 |
But I still don't know how that link works ![]() | 2011-11-19 15:50:00 Author: Yassinius ![]() Posts: 68 |

Yeah, problem is that if your level is really good, it will probably have some players. But if it's just decent or fine, no one would play it, because most of "cool levels" and "recently published" are garbage. | 2011-11-19 19:57:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |

There's an age-old secret: Make a popular themed level, be it a costume level, nicely made house, or movie (Those are popular now.) Once those get you some creator hearts, then make a legit level. The people who hearted you will see it, and therefor play it. ![]() | 2011-11-21 12:20:00 Author: Rather Tasty ![]() Posts: 57 |
I have had this probably and well...still do, but I made a stupid film and it got like 1000+ plays. So.... you could try and make a little film to see if that helps. BTW i made a new level called "Dark Frenzy Depths" give it a try and I will also checkout your levels ![]() | 2011-11-21 13:06:00 Author: The_Lil_JoKeR ![]() Posts: 745 |

Not much of a secret. ![]() But yes, that is the main fallback for most people to get cheap plays and hearts. | 2011-11-22 19:12:00 Author: CYMBOL ![]() Posts: 1230 |
There are several people who want plays of course but not many people seem to understand the concept of "do unto others". Go find people that want plays as well and check out a few of their levels, review and comment them with a request to play yours. Say something about their levels and what they may like about yours. Never, ever just say "play my level". Playing others, reviewing and maybe even hearting them sometimes gives them a little more of a reason to check out yours. Depending on who you ask and if they even see that you were willing to help them with the same, they may return the favor... This of course, would be the ideal way to get some plays but it takes a lot of playing, reviewing and commenting before it starts working. You shouldn't have to make a costume level, film or anything else you didn't want to make in the first place. That's just an assumption based on what is usually on cool pages. The misconception is that you still need a fair amount of hearts for that to even work. | 2011-11-22 19:45:00 Author: Dortr ![]() Posts: 548 |

Here is a tip from me. Create buzz. Make people aware that your level exists and tease them into believing they cannot die peacefully until they have played your level. Market that sucker. Use social networks to reach out to other players (who in turn, through their activity feeds, retweets, word of mouth, podcasts, hubs, etc. will pass it on), like Twitter where a fair bunch of 'em hangs out. If I were you, start a teasing preview thread in the Projects & Ideas forums where you update with regular intervals to keep people hooked. I look in that forum occasionally to see what is about to be published and if I see your thread close to the top for a while I will probably take interest. Make your levels really good. Everybody knows Mario, so they have a preconception about your level. If you drop hints of what makes your level stand out from the other (pretty bad) mario clones out there, that might pull people in. Find someone to record a video of a playthrough of your level, or edit it into a teaser trailer. Put it on Youtube and pass the URL around. Once published, bring it up in the Level Showcase forum to receive attention and reviews. If your level is deemed cool enough it will be promoted to the Cool Levels subforum and might even show up on one of the Community Spotlight episode threads. When you publish, send a PSN message to all of your LBP playing buddies with the good news, ask them to take a look. Edit: I saw Yassinus avatar and a Mario level was the first thing that came to mind. ![]() | 2011-11-24 07:07:00 Author: Antikris ![]() Posts: 1340 |

That's much work but it could work ![]() Heaven forbid you should give a bit if you want to receive... I thought that was understood by children and adults.. I have seen so many people complain about not getting plays but don't play anything themselves.. Then several creators with thousands and thousands of plays that don't play much of anything either. | 2011-11-25 20:21:00 Author: Dortr ![]() Posts: 548 |

Hmm... make something that appeals to players, and then they'll check out your levels. If you improve quality of levels over time, you'll get more plays. I got onto the Cool Levels once. Trust me, sometimes too many plays can be a bad thing. (ONE WORD: INVITES) Good luck ![]() | 2011-12-01 02:55:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |

Try and keep your level on top of the Newest levels page and give it a snappy name. This will help increase your odds of people seeing your level. Besides that. I have noticed that 70 plays in 3 hours puts you on page 2 of the cool pages so Thats your goal mate. Hope this helps. LittleBigSnooth | 2011-12-03 15:50:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |

What should be a good name ![]() Yeah Super Mario Bros. is a good name because it really does tell you what you're getting. However, Adding some good Tags like Retro and Pltforming etc. can also increase your market to people that play by using the SEARCH feature. Also, try constantly improving on feedback given and then rename the title to V1.1 etc. This way they see that you're listening to the community etc. Also, if you message them telling them that you have changed and improved upon there feedback they will play it again. This might not increase your plays as I ddont know if Replays count anymore but they may bring a friend which will increase your plays. And if they like it they will heart. Hope this helps - Liam | 2011-12-04 14:04:00 Author: LittleBigSnooth ![]() Posts: 454 |
