Slap Sensor - Walkthrough

Hello everyone! I don't have a Youtube video for this yet but I decided I will walk you through how to make a Slap Sensor. NOTE: I'm doing this off the top of my head without playing the game so there is bound to be mistakes. I will double check if I'm right and fix later.

First of all, there is two ways to do this depending on what you are doing it for. If the character that is slaping is a sackbot/player controlled sackbot, then go to the next paragraph. If you are sensing a players slap, then go to the paragraph after the next.

Okay, Using a sackbot to do this is a lot easier than an actual player. First of all, put a controllinator on your sackbot's microchip. Next, place a microchip on the controllinator board and label it "Right Slap". (You don't have to label if you don't want but I recommend you do so it won't cause you any confusion later). Inside that microchip. Place a direction splitter, an AND gate, a counter, a timer, and a tag. First, connect the negative output from the direction combiner to the input of the counter. Tweak the counter to count to 1. Connect the output of the counter to the input of the timer. Tweak the timer to count up to 0.3 seconds. Connect the output of the timer to the reset of the counter. Next, connect the output of the counter and the positive output of the direction combiner to the AND gate. Then connect the AND gate to the tag. Lastly, take out one more AND gate, direction combiner, and an OR gate. Connect the Postive and Negative outputs on that recently placed Direction Combiner to the OR gate, connect the OR gate to the recently placed AND gate, and connect the R2 button on the controllinator to the other input of the AND gate. Then connect the Right Stick Right/Left output to the inputs of BOTH of the direction combiners. The tag indicates that the player has swung his arm in a slapping motion. All you have to do is have a tag sensor on the sackbot that you are slapping that is tweaked to: Maximum: about 14 (I don't know exactly, you may have to play around with it. I know it's in between 12 and 18), Minimum: 0, leave everything else as default. The tag sensor acts as the slap sensor. -- To do the same for the Left Hand, copy the microchip and label the knew one "Left Slap". Connect the Left Stick Right/Left output to the input the Right Stick Right/Left was, the L2 to where the R2 was, and, (THIS IS IMPORTANT), REVERSE BOTH OF THE DIRECTION COMBINERS. Do this by tweaking the direction combiners and switching them to inverted. Now the tag sensor you had before can sense a slap from both arms.

To sense a players slap, you do the same as the sackbot one but there is an extra step. (The bolded part of the previous paragraph is what you need to do, but read it after you read this):, Make a 2x2 piece of invisible hologram (Brightness: 0), place a microchip on it and in that microchip place a follower and a controllinator. Tweak the follower as so: Speed: 100, Minimum: 0, Maximum: Up to you, Acceleration: 100%, leave the rest as default. Tweak the controllinator to: Reciever (Choose the picture of the sackboy below the colour selection. I believe it is named "nearest sackperson" or something like that). Okay, now read the bolded part above. Here is a bookmark to show where you were in this paragraph |||||||||Welcome back! That's the end of this tutorial, I really hope it wasn't too confusing and that everything worked. Remember, this was off the top of my head and what I remembered from making it about a month ago . In fact, you would need to make bots grab the player so he doesn't waste time shaking his hand after the punch. Then you can make them kill the player if they grab it for too long. But then you'd need to make sure the bots aren't grabable so they don't kill each others, so that would be lame since they wouldnt do any animation when punched.2011-11-22 23:11:00
