played this, really enoyed it, wonderful visuals, excellent landmass designs, good thorough use of decorations, the atmosphere was immersive, I felt lost in your variety of beautiful materials and scenery. Very nice I can't think of any problems. Deserves a heart. If you have time can oyu play my level, The Island off Flu Street, thanks. | 2011-11-17 00:14:00 Author: drei Posts: 158 |

Cymbol, thanks for your nice review on psn. As you've noticed I like to build levels where you have to puzzle a little on how to proceed, find the correct way to climb up those caves. A little sense of freeroaming. That being said: I thought I had kept it quite straightforward this time. Was there a specific point where you got stuck? Thanks for the review Drei/angiefaramarzi. I noticed you forgot to score my level. (Arrr, where's me heart!!) I'll be sure to drop by on Flu street next time I'm on. Hey Des & Sozo, always very interested in your opinions, please let me know what you think okay? | 2011-11-17 11:50:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Yeah, I got the free roam style you were going for and found it very unique and enjoyed it. However, there is s danger with free roam, which I've run into in many video games, which is, where am I supposed to go? I was running around, jumping on buildings, avoiding bad guys, and it seemed like I kept going over the same terrain. I was also confused, cause I could grab the boxes, but I couldn't seem to move them. Overall I really enjoyed the design and atmosphere, but perhaps a hint could be displayed after a while to help those of us who get a little lost and would like to continue the level. Greet production. Look forward to what ever you do next. | 2011-11-17 19:12:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |

Thanks guys. Yeah, I got the free roam style you were going for and found it very unique and enjoyed it. However, there is s danger with free roam, which I've run into in many video games, which is, where am I supposed to go? I know what you mean, Cymbol. I had that with games like Oblivion or Fall Out; interesting worlds, but too open for my taste. I'll see if I can put in a few subtle hints to make playing through the goblin city a little more streamlined. (Us usual thermo is about full, but I'll see what I can do.) | 2011-11-18 09:00:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
My first foray into move pack stuff, so forgive my ignorance. - "Catching up to player" logo/indicator. Maybe add some blocks to slow the fall, so this doesn't show? - Backtracking for grapple. -+ Collapsing bridge. Maybe add some sponge to grab onto to save yourself? (If you just so happen to suck like me,haha) + Ladders. They work pretty well! - Blind jumps leading to death in a freeroaming exploratory platformer. Rawr. Don't get me angry. You won't like me when I'm angry. -+ Is there anyway to get back up to the part with the 2x chestnuts and 2x teacups?? I try to grab that bad guy, but my grapple seems to grab everything but him. - At the base of the cannon, the green bit isn't glued down. -+ Chestnut counter somewhere? Looks great. The new decorations/etc sure come in handy. New water material is pretty cool too. Nice Had no other problems. (except not beating someone's score..) Had fun. | 2011-11-25 03:06:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Hey Midnight, great you enjoyed yourself. Thanks a lot for the detailed walkthrough. I'll fix that stuff soon. -+ Collapsing bridge. Maybe add some sponge to grab onto to save yourself? (If you just so happen to suck like me,haha) Sneaky goblins and their deathtraps, lol... + Ladders. They work pretty well! Yeah, I like 'm too. - Blind jumps leading to death in a freeroaming exploratory platformer. Rawr. Don't get me angry. You won't like me when I'm angry. Don't wanna get the Monkey King mad... I'll try and tune the cameras so there'll be no more unfair deathdrops. (Just fair deathdrops...) -+ Is there anyway to get back up to the part with the 2x chestnuts and 2x teacups?? I try to grab that bad guy, but my grapple seems to grab everything but him. Yes, that's a hard one & you get no retries (unless popping). I'll see if I can devise an alternative route to getting back up the teacuptowers. - At the base of the cannon, the green bit isn't glued down. Consider it glued! -+ Chestnut counter somewhere? If the thermo allows I'll put one in. See you online, mate. It's been a while! EDIT: Updated the level, with most fixes installed. | 2011-11-25 08:23:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |

Just updated my level. Improved the AI of the goblins. (Thanks to Compermc and his FANTASTIC tutorials). | 2011-12-16 14:53:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Alrighty then, Sound: -I liked all of your the songs in your level, they fit the theme well. -Though the first song didn't quite get me into the mood to explore; it made me feel lonely. -However the second song is a much better fit for the level. -The transition to the third song was awfully sudden. You should try to have your songs fade in and out when transitioning. Aesthetics: -I really liked the par that had the textured gray clay with the rust sticker on it as well as the wooden slats near the end of the level, but you used far too many different materials and they ended up clashing together. I would suggest picking just a few materials and messing around with them, see what cool shapes and designs you can form the into. -Sometimes the shape of the scenery seemed a bit too rigid or unnatural, but in general it was good. Gameplay: -All of the gameplay worked well and was fun to go through... -But there were too many blind jumps. -And the layout of the level was strange making it difficult to explore at times. These are just my thoughts, take them for what they are, and I'm looking forward to whatever you have up your sleeve next! | 2011-12-17 21:16:00 Author: zynax555 Posts: 170 |
I was loving this level but i got stuck! Not sure if am missing something obvious but i couldn't find my back up after you follow the guys with wings...i kept going up to the teacup tower fom the pine cones, then left to a stone tower then....stuck! Please give me a hint - i'd love to go back and complete. Still, it was fun to keep trying for long time! Love the world and the music. Very immersive. I'd love to get my hands on the mushrooms and the butterfly! Where are they from? Maybe a few more checkpoints and/or chestnuts (you can see but have to try and get to) to guide you through? Overall, lovely! I'll check out your other levels - my you have been busy! | 2011-12-18 10:43:00 Author: THe EGG Posts: 75 |
Thanks for the nice feedback! Please give me a hint - i'd love to go back and complete. Still, it was fun to keep trying for long time! Of course. Keep going right from the bottom of the teacup tower. You'll have to use some stairs, bouncepads etc to continue on. Pass a waterfall. Still keep going right. You'll come to an area where the camera zooms out, and you'll see a challenging route to climb upward. Let me know if you can find the way, ok? Love the world and the music. Very immersive. I'd love to get my hands on the mushrooms and the butterfly! Where are they from? The mushrooms are decorations from the Move-pack. The butterfly is part of the Asylum-ackground. Overall, lovely! I'll check out your other levels - my you have been busy! LBP-addiction anyone... Already working on the next part, where you really get a shot at saving the princess. | 2011-12-18 11:57:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Thanks for the feedback zynax! I liked all of your the songs in your level, they fit the theme well. -Though the first song didn't quite get me into the mood to explore; it made me feel lonely. -However the second song is a much better fit for the level. The second one is an original compisition by SevenisaCanibal. Great stuff indeed. | 2011-12-23 10:18:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Fixed the looping of the music. | 2011-12-26 07:24:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Fixed some more bugs. Added some pictures to this thread. Also started on the third part of this quadrology-within-a-larger-story : The Bathhouse at the Bottom of the World. Finally you'll get to rescue princess Sau Mei. | 2012-02-22 07:33:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Very nice looking level! The scope is huge for all the levels together. I have to say it took me close to 40 min. to complete this level. I kept saying what am I supposed to do now? Some times the answer was as simple as walking in the back layer when I couldn't see a way through. A few cut scenes would have helped players like me who are best at scratching their heads. The helpful goblin was very good. Thanks for making fun levels! I have a f4f level if you have a chance. http://www.lbp.me/v/9ky2z0 | 2012-02-26 13:37:00 Author: one-mad-bunny Posts: 334 |
Got this queued up, this level looks amazing. Can't wait to give it a play. | 2012-03-07 20:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wow, I love the looks of this level. All the greenery! The detail looks very good too! Looks like you put a lot of time into this level I will play it, when I get back onto LittleBigPlanet 2. I am going to heart it and give it a yay too. | 2012-03-08 11:04:00 Author: Skaterjoe14 Posts: 60 |
Thanks for the replies and feedback guys! I'll get on the F4F on your level asap, one-mad-bunny. In the meantime, hard at work at the next level in this series: The Bathhouse at the Bottom of the World. | 2012-03-31 07:33:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
Hey pickled! Sorry I've been off the LBP2 scene for a while now. I'm back with some creative spark! Anywho, I just played this level of yours (long overdue, I know) and it was awesome! A bit shorter than your other levels but the level design and decor was great as always! I love the use of hologram you used! I may have to incorporate that technique into some of my levels, if you don't mind . Oh, and since I haven't been playing LBP2 for the past YEAR, I'm wondering where you got those spike shell hazards? Anyway, a few minor things I've had with the level: - When you drop down in the beginning, the camera pans down to an angle. I can see a tid bit of the edge of your level and a little bit of the bottom of it. - Some of the same things are grabbable, some are not. I found myself a little disappointed that I couldn't grab this crate in my way to move it aside to see if there was a hidden passage but moments before I could with other crates. Same goes with some of the grabbable branches you swing on. Thanks for making the level, always a pleasure playing them! Like + heart from me | 2012-11-21 00:56:00 Author: MrTran Posts: 216 |
Hey Mr. Tran: good to hear that you're back to haunting the Craftworlds. I love the use of hologram you used! I may have to incorporate that technique into some of my levels, if you don't mind . Oh, and since I haven't been playing LBP2 for the past YEAR, I'm wondering where you got those spike shell hazards? The stuff comes from the Move pack, a very usefull edition to your creator toolkit. It's got a lot of great new nature-themed objects (including the spikey chestnut shell) & decorations. Also, from this pack comes the incredibly usefull sticker material. You'll need a motion controller to play the cool levels though. Thanks a lot for the pointers: I'll slap some more grab-tweakers around, and fiddle with the camera. | 2012-11-21 18:35:00 Author: pickled-punk Posts: 598 |
