Creating LBP Levels from 2 PS3's, 2 Locations (and sync them?)
Archive: 10 posts
My son loves to create! He has many levels published, and he's been creating here since 2009. He recently got a PS3 at his Mom's house, and he wants to be able to work on his levels in both locations. We have him able to sign in and play from both homes, with his ID, buddabudski. Is there a way to synchronize his levels onto his moon, through the LBP community? So that, when he uploads a new level here, he will be able to download it, add create or modify it at his Mom's, then upload his changes there? Or, if not, is there a way for him to copy his levels directly from the PS3 here, onto a USB memory stick/card and just carry it with him to his Mom's house, where he can work on them there? | 2011-11-14 01:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
You can't copy levels from one moon to the other directly, but you can publish a level locked*, then copy it back to your moon from the other PS3. USB also works, just go to the level, make a backup, put it on USB, and on the other PS3 import the backup. * You may want to box in the entrance, because people have been known to enter locked levels erroneously. | 2011-11-14 10:30:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |

Ahhh ok I see how to do it with the USB, and I understand what you're saying with the locked/copy levels, thank you!!! We'll try it tomorrow, he's here tonight and at his Mom's tomorrow night... | 2011-11-14 16:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
I concur, but being how it is on another PS3, would you have to make the locked level copyable, even though you'd be using the same PSN name? I would just got with the USB route and make sure to keep both PS3's updated with the same data. | 2011-11-14 16:38:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I don't think they'd need to be copyable, no. It's still "you" (the same PSN) that's doing the copying. | 2011-11-14 21:19:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Great, thanks again! Another related question too if you don't mind... he said that all his materials, community objects, etc, in his popit and goodies/tools bag at his Mom's house are empty. So, in other words, anything he's accumulated by building here, isn't in his profile there. Is this saved in the Game Data Utility, where I could copy his profile from here, onto the same memory card, so he could import it there? Would that get him all the tools and popit stuff in both places? Otherwise, he has to redo all the tutorials there? | 2011-11-14 21:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
If this is also happening I'd go the USB route and do a profile backup before shutting down, and then import the profile when he boots. | 2011-11-15 20:15:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |

Trophies sync from PSN, not sure about pins, but I think the answer is yes... | 2011-11-16 20:18:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Transferring a backed-up profile works fine in LBP1, so he can do that, and it will copy the profile exactly. Best teach him to back up reguarly, so he can keep his profile up-to-date on both PS3s and he will have a recent copy of it should something go wrong. It won't with LBP2 though, which is very annoying. EDIT: As you can't import a profile that isn't yours on LBP2, no, pins and trophies will not port over. If you do it in LBP1, you get a message saying trophies are disabled. | 2011-11-17 21:55:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
