Stargate: United

I have been working on this Stargate multilevel game of and on for almost a year. Travel in and out of levels using the Stargate. If you're a fan of the show, or not please feel free to check it out. I'd appreciate it. Here are some pictures from the levels.

I sure would like to play this, but you didn't put in a LBP.me link and your profile doesn't display you PSN. Sorry, but I'm not playing Columbo to track down your level.2011-11-12 15:48:00

I'm not really a fan of stargaze but only because I haven't really watched the show. I like the idea of the stargate world, just never got around to much past the movie and the first series in the 90's...

ANYWAY a year's worth of effort suggests that there is a lot of detail in here do I have it queued! I hope it picks up some more interest! I also see that you have a few locked levels, are they completed and unlocked through play or are they still not done?

All levels are available and are unlocked through play. I believe this is the most detailed Stargate level(s) I've seen and has a lot of characters and locations. Thanks for checking out and, yes, I hope it gets more attention. 2011-11-16 12:05:00

I love Stargate SG1 and Atlantis (never could get into Universe though) and I'm a big fan of 'what would have happened if...' based levels rather than unoriginal copies.

This looks great fun and I queued it without hesitation

Ok, So I have played the first two levels, the intro and the start of the SG-1 Base. Your detail is excellent, and it really reminds me of the little Stargate that I know. I looks as if you have gone to great pains to get the look just right.

The intro movie is a little misleading though, but not in a negative way really. It's just rather short and all the details in what you have sort of suggest a bit of a longer setup. I guess that the thermo was against you. But you could investigate a destroyer/emitter setup and roll this intro into your first level maybe.

The first stage also has great design and really looks well built (one of your pillars is not glued down though, I took a photo (http://i2.lbp.me/img/ft/b52e03ed2d5da628cf2c6468426ffe4ac6a59a19.jpg) of it), but I think that your gameplay logic needs a little tweaking.

You spawn and are told exactly what to do, which is great, a perfect setup and a clear goal. But you step out into a corridor of plasma balls that you can't see.

The sackbot character died pretty quickly due to my unpreparedness, which is a little upsetting, as I guess you get a bonus if she survives. But it doesn't really feel like I have much ability to keep her alive. The actual section is a good start to the level, but maybe allow a little more space before the plasma, and some more alcoves for you to get her into cover, as I can jump the plasma, but she doesn't.

I really like that the paint gun is limited but it did lead to, and exacerbate, my next frustration. Your elevators are tricky to get on. You have to wait some time before they arrive and if you run out of paint you need to backtrack to get more, invariably having to wait for the elevator again.

Maybe a little more logic design would help, you could make sure that the elevator is always on the floor you are on.

Having a paint gun on the lower level would also help, as I went along and up the next elevator (after waiting for it) to see the two guards and have an empty gun. I then had to wait for the elevator to go down a level, wait for an elevator to go up a level, pick up the gun, wait for the elevator to go back down, then wait for the next elevator to go back up. I then accidentally dropped the gun while clicking through re-triggered dialogue.

Some logic tweaking would be great for these sacktors standing near the button to unlock the C4. The conversation keeps replaying as you walk past. It may also be worth while to add some AI to them that sees you if you try to walk past them. Because you can just ignore them and press the button.

The issues with the next section (where I got game over) are a combination of the two, very minor issues I have already mentioned.

The Sackbot gives you the next goal (again this is great, because it breaks the level into smaller parts to keep the feeling of accomplishment after the first door is completed), but I died in the corridor, and respawned at the checkpoint, but when I stepped back into the corridor the sackbot's dialogue was re-triggered and it pulled the camera away from me and I could not see the plasma blasts in the corridor. This happened until I ran out of lives.

I will return because I do like what you are offering, and this I the same reason that I have taken them time to re-play your levels up to the same point and then sit down and write this as what I have played so-far shows potential and looks great, the flow of the level with the smaller goals is a good concept as is the small amount of platforming in each mini-section

I also agree that it is some very detailed Stargate stuff, and anyone with a passing interest in the series will probably really enjoy what you have created, but do keep in mind that anyone can see your recent activity and by booing so many other Stargate levels without offering feedback you are actually hurting yourself as these are the people most likely to play your levels as they are also fans of the show. Reach out to them and leave comments on their profiles as fellow fans, I know that personally I am always looking for BTTF stages to play and would have no problems with someone letting me know that they have done some similar work.

Thank you for the detail info and some that you mentioned I was aware and would like to correct. As far as the booing of Stargate levels, I didn't take into consideration of the feedback or the lack of and now looking back I feel bad I did that in that way. Thanks for that heads up as I was not trying to just shoot down these levels. Your attention to detail is appreciated.2011-11-17 19:14:00
