I have the first 2 Jak and Daxter games on my PS2, so I won't pick those up. JAK III maybe. Depends on how good it looks. There must be a significant difference graphically for me to care about this.2011-11-10 16:34:00

A retailer leaked this last month with a mid January release date so hopefully that'll be the case when the official announcement is done.2011-11-10 17:05:00

I like the Jak & Daxter games more than Ratchet & Clank. Both are great series, but the gameplay in J&D is a little more varied with less focus on shooting stuff. I really want a new game...maybe Naughty Dog could take a break from Uncharted. 2011-11-10 18:07:00

Greetings all, hopefully you?ve been getting to spend some quality time with Uncharted 3 (http://eu.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item328374/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g) these past few weeks. We are grateful for all the positive fan feedback and thank you for the support.
I?m not here today to talk about U3 (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/tag/uncharted-3/) though. We?ve been getting many, many requests asking when Jak and Daxter (http://eu.playstation.com/search-results/jak+and+daxter/) will be coming to PS3 (http://www.eu.playstation.com/ps3), and I?m happy to announce that they will be making their PS3 (http://www.eu.playstation.com/ps3)debut this February with the launch of Jak and Daxter Collection.

The Jak and Daxter Collection features three of our favorite Jak and Daxter titles- Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (http://eu.playstation.com/ps2/games/detail/item145140/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g), Jak II and Jak 3 ? all remastered by Mass Media (http://www.massmedia.com/), working closely with our team at Naughty Dog (http://www.naughtydog.com/). With the launch of Jak and Daxter Collection, you?ll be able to experience the adventures of Jak and his Daxter in 720p High Definition with crisper visuals, smoother gameplay animation and in full stereoscopic 3D. And, I?m sure all of you hardcore collectors will be happy to hear that each game in the trilogy features full PS3 trophy support.

Jak II

The Jak and Daxter franchise set a benchmark for the platformer genre with its huge environments and gaming freedom. In fact, it holds 7 world records in the Guinness World Records: Gamer?s Edition 2008 including the First Seamless 3D World in a Console Game. As you can imagine, there?s a lot of love for the franchise here at Naughty Dog, and it has a very special place in our hearts. If you can believe it, the Jak and Daxter franchise will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year on December 4th and we?ll be checking in with you via the PlayStation.Blog (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/)to help us celebrate. In the meantime, let me know your favorite Jak and Daxter memories in the comments and be sure to stay tuned to the blog to for the latest Jak and Daxter Collection news.

I wonder if this will be like the Sly Collection, as in a new Jak game is coming.. I know there was a game made by another company that apparently wasn't good... but, well, Naughty Dog did finish Uncharted 3, so they might be working on another Jak game. Or I culd just be making stuff up.

Anyway, played a bit of Jak 2, and I remember watching my brother play Jak and Daxter TEN years ago (;o). I'd like to replay them, for real this time I mean.

Some of the best PS2 games I ever played. The Jak and Sly trilogies made up my PS2 collection 8 years ago, and Im glad to finally have them able to join Sly in my PS3 library. Not to mention those screen shots show an amazingly well done graphics overhaul.

So, just like Sly, will Jak and Daxter be getting a new game once their trilogy is out? YES. PLEASE!

Hell. No.

That game was a step back from the series. Sure, it was fun in a way, but it wasn't Jak and Daxter at all. It was something completely different.

I've been on the internet a while, so it's hard for me to decide.

Are there people who actually want this, or is it just a joke

Anyway, I hope they make Jak 4, or at least something less scripted. U1 and U2 were nice and all (haven't played U3 yet), but I kinda want something with more exploration and collectables and stuff ;o.

Take it or leave it a joke, but my gut tells me a downloadable Uncharted racing game would prove fantastic.

Marko polo, Those purple dudes, and the Zombies from Uncharted 1 could all star

It's hard to believe it's been ten years since Jak and Daxter (http://eu.playstation.com/search-results/jak+and+daxter/) found their way onto PlayStation 2 (http://eu.playstation.com/ps2/)and into the gaming world. We are delighted at the place the franchise has found amongst the gaming community and the mark it has left on the platformer genre in particular. Given we?re so close to the 10th anniversary, looking back at some of the work that went into making those games awesome seems in order. We?re amazed to recall just how the development of the Jak and Daxter (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/tag/Jak-and-Daxter/) franchise has progressed and how far we?ve come.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6440844251_7e49cbc9c7_o.jpg
With each outing in the Jak and Daxter series, we set out to create a game that offered the player a brand new experience that built on the previous game. As you go from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy to Jak 3, the story will connect across the titles as the gameplay and technical aspects of the games and the tools used to create them evolved. From being on foot in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy to the hoveboard and morph gun in Jak II to the dune buggies in Jak 3, new gameplay ideas were always in play and being fleshed out and amped up. On the technical side, for instance, Jak 3 featured a brand new terrain renderer that included bump-mapping, which is now a commonplace element in rendering terrain. Also, other givens in today?s games, such as cloth dynamics and rag-doll physics, were new developments by the time that Jak 3 was released in 2004.

All in all, the evolution of the franchise was a long, fun and winding road, and we are delighted to be able to share it with the current console generation. With The Jak and Daxter Trilogy, we?re bringing the first three installments of the original PS2 series to PlayStation 3 on one Blu-ray disc. Mass Media has been working closely with our team at Naughty Dog to remaster Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (http://eu.playstation.com/ps2/games/detail/item145140/%20?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g), Jak II (http://eu.playstation.com/ps2/games/detail/item34852/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g) and Jak 3 (http://eu.playstation.com/ps2/games/detail/item35422/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g)for the collection. Each title will now offer refined 720p High Definition visuals, smoother gameplay animation, full stereoscopic 3D functionality and trophy support

Looking back at the old code and comparing it to this newly minted code is pretty amazing. Our beloved Jak and Daxter franchise (http://eu.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item431810/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g) and its colorful cast of characters looks, and still plays, truly awesome. The technology and the development work that went into making The Jak and Daxter Trilogy is remarkable. We?re looking forward to hearing your thoughts and stories once you get a hold of the collection.
For those of you who are longtime fans, get ready to experience the Jak and Daxter (http://eu.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item431810/?WT.mc_id=PDC_blog_g)as you?ve loved it in fresh light. If you?re new to the franchise, be ready to get hungry for more eco.

Naughty Dog returns to Jak and Daxter?

When Naughty Dog decided to create a second development team in the studio, it needed a new game idea. One of the earliest possibilities was a reboot of the Jak and Daxter franchise on PlayStation 3. Co-president Evan Wells explains what happened.

"We'd all talked about it in interviews with fans asking, 'When's the next Jak and Daxter?' I don't know if this is going to make them happy or sad, but we did explore the idea fairly extensively. Something that we talked about early on was, 'Let's go back and apply what we've learned on the Uncharted games to Jak and Daxter.' It's one of the franchises that's near and dear to us, and, in all honesty, we'd like to somehow honor.

"But as we started exploring this and looking at ways we could evolve the game and apply the same narrative techniques that we had leveraged to good effect in the Uncharted series and bring the technology forward and allow us to render in a more realistic style like we were able to do in Uncharted, all the ideas just started to feel like they were going so far away from what made Jak and Daxter Jak and Daxter. Even if we felt like we're going to give the fans another Jak and Daxter, we felt we weren't going to give them the game that they wanted. We would end up limiting the direction that the company had this passion for while simultaneously not creating the game that fans wanted. We just realized we were going to just do everybody a disservice. So at that point the conversations started to move in new directions.

"Now is not the time. Never say never. It could happen. Naughty Dog's got a long history and I think it's got a long future, so to say well never go back is kind of crazy. But right now we've got this new IP that we're definitely going to be supporting. I guess there's a possibility that the Uncharted Team could move on to Jak and Daxter. It's still up in the air, but I wouldn't think that's going to happen because I think we'd run into all of the same problems with that team that we did with this team."Game Informer via http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=34853251&postcount=59

I'm currently halfway through the second game and loving it. I got interested in the Jak series since I played the third one at my friend's a few years ago, but sadly I couldn't play them because I have no PS2. So I was very excited when this collection was announced. This is one hell of an adventure series.

But I do have a few nitpicks. The companies that port these games to the PS3 should do more than just upgrade the resolution, they should tweak the gameplay too so it fits with modern quality standards. My main complaint is the camera. It's stupidly slow and when you move the right analog up or down, it zooms in and out instead of looking up or down. And it doesn't "adapt to the environment, so changing the point of view in closed environments is a pain in the bum.

There's also one thing that would've improved the combat greatly: a tighter lock-on system and strafing. The ability to walk sideways while still being able to shoot an enemy (Ratchet style) would've made the combat much smoother and intuitive. Instead, you've got to move towards the enemies to keep aiming on them and even then it's easy to lose it. This can become a problem with enemies that charge at you. I don't think the devs should keep outdated gameplay unimproved just for the sake of tradition.

Anyway, good stuff. Definitely worth it especially if you're into adventure games.
