Do the Move games require a Navigation control?
Archive: 10 posts
Hi guys, Just wondering, am planning on buying the Move, which comes with the Eye and Controller. I see there is a Navigation controller sold separately (for some ridiculous price). Do I need this for Prehistoric Moves and the DLC Move Pack? Or just what comes in the basic pack? Thanks! | 2011-11-09 22:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
You can use a standard controller instead of the nav controller. It's just a little awkward, because you're holding a full sized controller with one hand. | 2011-11-09 23:06:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |
Thanks for that. So other players just use the normal dual shock controls, is that right? | 2011-11-09 23:14:00 Author: Unknown User |
I use the Move wand and a regular controller, I don't mind it at all. The Navigation stick might be better, but dual shock works fine. | 2011-11-09 23:19:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
Personally I prefer using the Dualshock - I don't have one (though I did intend to buy one at one point), but as far as I'm aware the navigation controller can't be used in conjunction with the DS, so if you turned both on, your Move would be tied to one or the other and not both (and also make a second sackperson appear??). Seeing as you cannot use create mode without the DS it becomes a bit of a hindrance having to swap the Move back and forth between the two whether you're creating or playing. I THINK that's the way it works, maybe someone who has one can clarify this. For LBP the nav controller is likely merely an annoyance, but if you intend to use it for other games then it will be better than the Dualshock for ergonomic reasons mainly, but I guess for practical uses too as it's not as big or heavy for only one hand to wield. | 2011-11-10 01:40:00 Author: Xaif Posts: 365 |
Thanks for that. So other players just use the normal dual shock controls, is that right? yeah, just rest it on your knee when you play and it becomes second nature. it only becomes awkward if you try to hold it in front of you. i have the MOVE pack and don't have a nav, so take it from me it works great. personally from my experience with the nav it's too small (and so awkward) and is designed for people with smaller hands IMO and just in case you want to branch out at some point, EVERY Move enabled or specific game can be used with the duelshock in this way | 2011-11-10 02:32:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
To address the question directly No, you do not need the navigation controller! you need a motion controller & a Normal Ps3 controller I bought the Move & navigation Controller purely because the Move pack came out! but buying the Navigation Controller was a complete waste of money! its handy playing through the Move DLC Story mode (as it is rather comfy) but you cant use it in create mode! Which to me is what the game is all about! Though I imagen, if your just intending to play move games that others have created, then could very well be worth it! | 2011-11-10 20:38:00 Author: danx87 Posts: 59 |
I ended up buying a navi control. It was on special and also got another $10 off as we bought something else expensive, and hubby always asks for discounts lol. Realised last night in create mode you have to use the dual shock controller. But anyway, the navi serves as a normal controller anyway, so now I can get some of those x3 prizes in the levels | 2011-11-10 20:47:00 Author: Unknown User |

I have only the 1 controler plus the Move+navi, and have used it to exploite the multiplayer only collectables! | 2011-11-10 22:40:00 Author: danx87 Posts: 59 |
I've bought a nav for PSMove Heroes (bad game btw, too limited and repetitive), but I don't use it for LBP, I got tired of switching DS- Nav - DS - Nav - DS... 'Cause I'm a crafter. | 2011-11-12 04:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
