Camera Question

Archive: 5 posts

In a level I'm making, I need to have a camera completely away from the player. I know a movie camera can do this (that's what I tried), the problem is that the camera won't move. If I put a game camera on a block of cardboard then moved the cardboard (controlinator with advanced mover), the camera follows it. With a movie camera, I can't move the cardboard at all. I know there's a third type of camera which I'll experiment with tomorrow, but I've been wondering how to get this to work for a while. An example is this level:*http://lbp.me/v/y39b0v
The camera follows the aiming reticule, and if you go all the way left, the player is still sitting on the controlinator.*
Thanks in advance

Make sure the disable controller option is set to off.
I would recommend you use holographic materials instead of physical materials as it will pass through anything but if you you want to limit movement then physical material is just fine.

Spot on! though if you are using this as a camera for a sackbot or controllable player then do as Darkcloudrepeat says with the hologram (then set a follower on hololgraphic material, set to follow a tag on the "sackbot or controllable player"! this way you can immertate the game cam by playing with the speed/strength/dampening of the follower.

Hope this helps with what your lookign to do

Thank a lot to both of you
This helped a ton, although I still don't know how I missed the disable controller option... Either way I'm very impressed with this forum and the timely and accurate replies.
I've got the camera working now (thanks to you guys), so I can finally start finishing some levels.
