Raiders of the Lost Sack - Part I - Added Video

Archive: 5 posts

YES, I know... ANOTHER Indy based level, but unlike others I have seen, this is based on the entire movie (and my point of view of course...). I had to split it into 2 parts and Part II is coming soon. If I see that people like it, I will be creating levels based on the remaining movies as well since I already have them planned.

Creation Title: Raiders of the Lost Sack - Part I
Author's PSN: Morri
Brief Description: Based on Raiders of the Lost Ark, you will pass through parts of the movie (at least those that I like the best). Not too hard, 99% created from scratch and if you see too much material being repeated, a word of caution: I haven't finished the game yet so I haven't unlocked all the goodies since I spent most of my time working on this level so far.

Anyway, enough with the talk, here are some pics:

Hope you guys like it! It is my first level and I feel that I spent a good amount of time on the glue/unglue bug which almost made me give it up. Another bug I found is that the color of the gas of emitted objects will be yellow regardless of the color you choose when you created them, minor detail but still annoying.

So I had a chance to check this out last night and I was quite impressed. Your colors are vibrant, the custom content all looks great (I especially liked the burning house and airplane) and the level really just felt fun to play. Unfortunately I could not finish the level though and here are a couple of suggestions:

- You use dissolve as your "floor". In this case it kind of blends in with the rest of the object but I would still recommend coloring it or using a differen material to make things look a bit more pretty.

- The "earthquake" near the begining. As far as I could tell there was no explanation as to why this was happening and I was kind of confused lol. But maybe that's just me.

- I could not get up onto the moving platform in the house. It seems like I need to jump on the highest shelf and access from there. I tried jumping with all of my might but could not make. I suggest lowring the platform. The last thing you want to do is frustrate the player this early in the level and this part really does not need to be challenging.

I will definitely play again once the platform is fixed. You have a really nice level here and I encourage everyone to take a look.

Thanks, really appreciate you taking the time to play it! The burning house (actually meant to be the tavern) took me a long time to build it, this is where I had the most problems with the glue/unglue glitch.

I know, at the time I started creating this level I only had the basic materials available and went for the "green"... but point taken and since then I have gathered more materials so I will take a look at a better option for it.

It was meant to be that the chamber was falling into pieces after you get the idol, I guess it was not that sutil...

Actually you can jump from the lowest part of the "bar" (you can see it on the video, at the 2:01 mark) I never missed one jump on that, but most likely because I have played the level 100s of times... Anyway, I will lower the chain for it as you said, it would be unfortunate to have that stop players to finish up like you experienced, the best part comes after that...

Thanks again for taking the time and willing to try it again, will let you know once I update it.

its ok he doesn't no indy like us . I'll definitely play this as soon as i can (just got back from holidays and i have to set up the ps3). I will eventually make a series of levels from one of the movies (hopefully all of them). I was going to start with temple of doom but I couldn't figure out how to make the nightclub scene into a level (though i just got an idea now :blush. I might make Last Crusade though....*has a million ideas run through head at once*

EDIT: Watched the video and.....WOW! Awesome level you have made a fantastic representation of the first half of raiders (I especially like the Flying Wing and the Map Room. You even had the Nazi flag and the light shining from the Staff of Ra! this is truly an awesome level and i'll play it as soon as i can .

An improvement could be instead of having the boulder a three layered electric circle, get the soccer ball object and put it on fire. It looks much better when the camera turns because it is spherical. Otherwise perfect!

Cool, another Indy fan! LOL, I have the same, as I was working on part I, I had already like 5 ideas for the 3rd film in my mind...

Thanks, I'm kind of proud of my flying wing, it turned out nice (at least I think so), and as for the other details, I tried to be consistent with the movie as much as I could.

Suggestion taken and put in place already, looks MUCH better, thanks!

I have also painted the floor and increased the length of the chain in the tavern as suggested by OCK!

Thanks all for the comments/suggestions!
