Area 52 - Live or die...

This is a map i made, which i spent atleast a good 60+ hours making, im afraid I've no pictures, but if someone could get some it'd be really appreciated.

As said in the title, the level is Called Area 52 - Live or die...

I assure you it wont be a waste of your time, but some have complained about it being too hard, i personally dont think its that bad, but it might just be cus im the creator.

Anyways I'd like feedback if possible, but most importantly, enjoy the level i will also return the favour to anyone who does if you would like me to just ask, and ill happily help ya out ^^

edit: thought i'd add a few details of the level ^^ get a little most specfic
story: the level takes place in a laboratory, called Area 52 (so i wasnt totally copying Area 51 ). As soon as the level starts, a professor reports that a "problem" has occured a few floors up. You must continue throughout the level and go make sure everything is ok, and preferably, make sure "it" hasnt escaped.
I wont say anymore as i dont want to ruin the level, although ill add the end has a rather epic boss fight, which has been complimented on by many ^^

Music and Sound effects: The music and sound effects have been carefully layed out throughout the entire level, the beggining with quiet creepy music inthe background, with sound effects layed out to match and give you a creepy atmosphere, from creaking boards, to water dripping. And throughout the level it will change to match, all the way till the end boss fight and the epic chanting music.

Custom Content: Everything in this level is completely custom, i did not use anything from other levels, and made everything completely on my own, there's also a few prizes with some things throughout the level for you to win ^^ if you enjoyed the boss i'd be happy to give it to people for use in their levels aslong as I am given credit :]

Wasn't this featured on the thread you made yesterday? Creating mutliple threads of the same levels is not a good idea imo. Having said that I will check out the level later and let you know what I think. I'm from Toronto btw 2008-12-26 00:02:00

well it was on all my levels together, which is like 7 of em :/ and i kinda just wanted feedback / reviews / peoples oppinons on this one inpaticular, since i doubt i would have gotten any for this level inpaticular in that thread

sorry if its counted as a double thread post on the same thing.. my mistake..

edit: i thought you were from Fukuoka, Japan jk, nice to meet someones who's pretty close by

I live in Fukuoka, Japan. I am from Toronto lol. I have been living outside of Canada for close to 8 years now though lol.

You can expect a lot of honest feedback from me. Keep in mind that if you are expecting people to leave you feedback then you should be prepared to do the same (and no, I am NOT talking about my levels here although it would be great if you checked them out). Try to take the first step and leave feedback for others and they may be more wiliing to do the same for you. Just some friendly advice

yep, in the old forums i was in i always offered to do the same in return, i just forgot to add that in :/ but i happily will i suppose ill go edit that in now too...

and oh, i see my bad, so can you speak japanese too? if so, thats awesome

anyways, ill be sure to check out your levels as soon as i can get back online, which will be tomorrow night ^^ (im currently at a relatives house for x-mas), but getting on tonight is a possibility, as they do have high speed, i just have to hook everything up.

Anyways i look forward to your feedback, im glad itll be honest, id rather honest feedback that will help with improving the level, than lying feedback which won't help with jack sh*t >_<

That's cool although maybe next time you can PM me. This is Sniper's level thread and those comments really don't belong here.

I played your level about an hour ago Sniper. I am putting together my comments now and will edit THIS POST within the next 30 minutes.

*EDIT*

OK here are my thoughts:

Pros

- There is a fun story that drives the level froward. The story isn't fleshed out but it does not really need to be. During those one or two parts that I did not find too interesting it was the need to know what that creature is that kept me moving forward lol. So good job on that.

- There is theme that is followed through to the end. All the material selection makes sense and the level is very cohesive as a whole.

- I love the way you did the doors, very cool.

- Sound effects are used liberally and the music works, well done.

- The level has a good length that doesn't seem too long or too short. It was perfect!

- The boss, WOW! Even if the rest of the level was garbage (it isn't of course) then it would be worth playing just to see the boss. I can honestly say that it is one of my top 3 favorite bosses that I have fought in LBP. The visuals on it are just nuts, really great work here.

Cons/Suggestions:

Before I start here I want you to know I tend to give a lot more feedback when it comes to suggestions (check my previous posts) because I am more interested in helping make a level better vs praising what is already great. I only mention this because you are new to the forums and probably not familiar with the sort of feedback I give lol. So, here we go:

- The section with the rolling fire logs needs to be tweaked. It can be very unforgiving and after my fifth death it was very tedious. I read some of the other in-game comments and it seems I am not the only one who feel this way. I think you can change the speed so they are a bit slower but still pose a challenge. To make your level a bit more unique you may want to consider completely revamping this section by creating another hazard. We have all same the rolling fire log a thousand times and players want to see something new. Just a thought.

- I love that you used a lot of sfx but there are one or two that really don't fit: the gunshot for the fire logs as well as the "magic blast". I personally don't feel like these make sense within the context of your level but if you have a preference for them then by all means keep them in there.

- Lighting. Although you have lighting the level could use more. I would also take out all of those candles, they really don't fit your theme.

- You could ad some polish by making the switches invisible and coloring your checkpoints. These may seem like minor things but it is often the small details that make a level really stand out.

- After defeating the boss I ran back to the left and there were pieces of his body on the ground that I know were not intended to be there. One of them also hand the bosses alien sound effect running so it was kind of strange.

Overall this is a great level that was fun to play. I encourage everyone to give it a shot and let Sniper know what you think. I will definitely check out your other levels when I get a chance and I look forward to the next one

thanks for all the feedback OCK this will def help with fixing up my level ^^ and im really glad you enjoyed the boss fight, that seems to be the highlight of my level but no complaints, im glad something is rememberable

ill be sure to fix up that log part then, i dont know if you know already, but if you jump without running its pretty easy to clear the logs and gain some distance, but nonetheless ill fix it up some more

and yeah, i think i was going to fix those sound effects and forgot too >< but ill get right on that in the next version, and lighting, never heard that one before but im glad i did, ill be sure to fix it up too ^^

and im glad the length was good, because i ran out of thermometre lol, although i had to remove alot of detials i had in the level so i could fit the boss and an end in awell

anyways, thank you again ever so much for all that feedback OCK, itll def help me out
