A 'Welcome' Change

Archive: 16 posts

I'm not sure if this really counts as site feedback or not, but it is feedback and it is related to this site.

I remember that, not even very long back, the introductions area was a pretty quiet place. Not in the form of lack of new members but a lack of responses to the threads posted there. I really just wanted to say that it's nice to see how things have since changed, these days introduction threads are filled with warm welcomes for new members, which is great to see.

Since joining LBPC (my first forum) I've signed up to number of others and I've found even just a quick 'welcome' from a few members of the forum makes a huge difference to how I feel being there. So I guess what I'm saying is thanks to everyone who takes the time to welcome our new members, even if it's only once in a while, it makes a bigger difference than you probably realise

Kind of a nothing thread but I wanted to post it anyway.

I'm with you 100%.

I used to write a welcome post in all introduction threads. Kinda stopped when I got busy with schoolwork and haven't really thought about posting welcome posts untiI I saw this thread. Thanks for reminding me!

I'm really glad to see more members welcoming new members also. It makes a big difference when you feel like you're part of a community. Many members came from other sites where they did not feel welcome and/or were ignored and those sites died. I wouldn't want that to happen to LBPC.2011-11-06 03:36:00

Good to hear. I had a period where I stopped when I was really busy as well, I'm still pretty darn busy, but try to drop in there every now and then.

Exactly, there's not a lot of motivation to stick around and contribute if you don't even feel welcomed.

I love welcoming new members and now it's become almost a game to see who can get there first. You're right about the feeling welcome bit, I joined a couple of other sites a long time ago and posted an intro and waited and waited and waited and after about a week, a grand total of 1 person welcomed me to the site. I didn't stay long. come to think of it, I don't know If I ever introduced myself here. gonna go check on that.2011-11-06 05:35:00

Welcome to Central Biorogue. Hope you enjoy yourself

I used to play the "try to get there first" game a little too but I've given up now, there's too much competition! and I'm just not fast enough

Thanks SR20, for putting this thread up. It's the people that keep a site alive, and their passion for giving that little bit extra is commendable, which is why, in case anyone is wondering, I like to Thank those members for sharing their valuable time to make someone feel at home with a sincere welcome. You just can't put a price on that!

I remember when I joined in May of 2009...my Intro was 3 pages long, and filled with welcomes that I will never forget. I truly felt at home in this awesome Community, and even moreso now.

Wow um, I just copy and paste because I usually don't know what to say, and if I try to change it up, I always mess myself up because I can't really think of any other way to welcome EVERY person that comes here with a warm sounding welcome lol. So that's why I copy and paste the nicest welcome I can think of so they get the full story without edits that I always forget my train of thought on. Also, on top of that.. I usually have a limited time, like 15-30 minutes when I come on since I'm soo busy, so if I actually had words then I wouldn't even have time lol.

But I just wanna thank you for posting this, it really means a lot to those who don't copy and paste like me lol, but it still means a lot to me too.

Too funny nys.

"IDEA" Expounded: maybe we should all synchronize a bump of our Intro threads, so we can all welcome each other, and also see what it was like at different points in time at this site...and how rediculous I sounded as a NOOB.

Yea,
thanks for making us obsolete with your cover-all-bases mega post SGR.
No but seriously, even if you copy and paste I commemorate you for typing it all up in the first place.
I thank everyone who welcomes the new members.

*Hugs

Yup I agree! I think it important to welcome our new members, help them out and answer any questions they might have about all the goodies here at LBPC. It can be horribly confusing to some and it is wonderful having such a great welcoming committee these days!

That being said, I really appreciate everyone's help in welcoming all the new folks here. Makes my job quite a bit easier knowing I can just catch up from time to time, especially since I have been so horribly busy these past several months. Keep up the great work!
