Movie Camera Troubles

Archive: 15 posts

I am working intensely on my new level tutorial, but I am having trouble with the camera. When I unpause in create mode, the camera is not active (which I want, as it should be triggered, but when Im in play mode, the camera is active, and I do not spawn. Any help? Also, add me if youd like to join and see the issue yourself.2011-11-06 02:25:00

I'm pretty sure this is the intended behavior of the Movie Cameras. You can have a cut scene playing at the begining of a level, and the players will not spawn until hte cut scene (Movie camera) has stopped playing.

To bypass this behavior, I think you need to leave in a few seconds in the start of a level so players will have time to spawn before you trigger the Movie Camera.

Actually, this isn't entirely true. Whatever checkpoint you're due to come out of will only spawn you if the Movie camera can "see" said checkpoint.

In any case, if you want your camera to be triggered when the player has entered the level then you could just trigger a player sensor at the beginning which in turn triggers the camera, OR you could just put the camera on a sequencer if you don't want this initial moment of player spawning; this is a useful technique, as you can set the sequencer playing mid-creation and see if everything's as it should be and reset as you wish. Just make sure that you leave a little gap AFTER the length of the camera on the sequencer otherwise the camera will just stay on infinitely.
Once the camera on the sequencer has finished, the default game camera will then just jump to the spawn point and presto! Out you pop!

Hope this helps, and feel free to PM me if I haven't explained properly!

Ok thank you, but do you think I could get some in game help? I have a special sackbot that travels between 2D and 3D dimensions so there is a lot of cameras, do you think you could help edit my logic to make sure no cameras are active until the player sensor says so, because I have many sequencers. Thank you a lot, this is helping tons2011-11-06 19:26:00

It'd be good to see what the context your predicament is in so I'd be happy to help. I could add you on PSN and we can try and go through it if you like? I'm not the best at everything but I should be of some use!2011-11-06 20:23:00

yes, if you have it set to cutscene it won't spawn a sackboy, it'll just play the cutscene/movie and finish

One more time, I arrive late T_T. Anyway, I've made 3 tutorials using movie cameras. Check them out and play them to see how do they work:

Advanced Tutorials-Percentage Signals-Introduction[ESP&ENG] (http://lbp.me/v/6ns9nq)
Advanced Tutorials-Percentage Signals-Basic Uses[ESP&ENG] (http://lbp.me/v/6nsejn)
Advanced Tutorials-Percentage Signals-Basic Uses 2[ESP&ENG] (http://lbp.me/v/6wje69)

I use multiple movie cameras in all of them. They are placed in independent hologram pieces, and their duration is set to infinite. I trigger each cam when needed with the proper logics. When the camera must dissappear, logics destroy it ^^.

If you want to add me, send me a friend request telling that you found me in this forums. My ID is SebasSBM. If my friends list is already full, report it to me and I'll delete someone.

Okay, cool! Movie cameras are deffinitely my weakest point in creation, so this should help a ton
