Looking for really good non intrusive rain!
Archive: 6 posts
I've been trying my **** off to figure out how to make good, non intrusive rain for a rather large project im working on...But i cant quite get it right using water drops looks...wrong because they grow as they fall and are on a thick layer, with the sackperson/bot in the same layer as the water drops they will slow him down and make him duck consistently. I tried using sticker material to make good rain but my paint skills arent quite up to snuff Any help would be a GODSEND, and ill give whomever help a sneak peak into what im working on, i think you will be pleasantly surprised PSN: Ssliasil | 2011-11-05 22:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
I know theres some sort of glitch type thing that replicates rain, with very low thermo, but Im a bit fuzzy on details. Ill try to help as best as possible. Set the water level to make it appear as there is a couple millimetres of water on the ground Make a large square, about 10x10 to 20x20 on a big grid, more if needed. Have a piston push and pull the square in and out of the water (make sure it goes all the3 way in, then all the way out) at 0.1s speed, stiff. If the rain is too low make the square bigger, and also remember to place the square piston thingy away from your level, its kind of big. If you need an example, search "Origami Killer" by faith_rip, it uses this method (this is not me ) | 2011-11-06 02:40:00 Author: Clayton Posts: 181 |
Make thin strips of holo or sticker panel in the shape of water droplet, like a thin diamond, set them to be low visibility. Copy this a few times and glue them to big invisible block in a random pattern. It'll need to be pretty big to cover the screen. Connect a piston to the block and use the flipper setting and play around with the speed and length settings. You can create an effect where it looks like it's raining but it's just the block going back and forth, kinda like a scrolling background. | 2011-11-06 18:29:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |

I would have suggested then grouping the large selection randomly together, then add a mover to group (ie so it travels down and right) then just emmite from high up out of several emitters & connect to a randomiser ( with it set to toggle & play with timings)! So that each emitter throws out 1 every so often at random intervals! http://lbp-me.lbp2blog.com/sigs/level/7kfrqx/0/1/sig.png (http://lbp.me/v/7kfrqx) | 2011-11-06 20:30:00 Author: danx87 Posts: 59 |
Arg, we can't do the walk through glitch on water drops... Well you could do it on another material and add a destroyer logic on the object. The walkthrough glitch is easy : place a brain on an object, jump on the brain and pause before the object is gone, copy-paste the object. The copy won't disappear and will not collide with sackboy/sackbots anymore, but will collide with any other material (even hologram and sticker panel will collide after this glitch). That way you could make half-transparent water drops with sticker panel or glass and make them break on collision with splash effect or no effect (and having just a bit of water-level above the round will make water splash around when raindrops hit it since they are solid). Make sure you place your destruction logic AFTER doing the glitch or it will disappear. Mmm, wait, can we capture glitched objects like this with an emitter ? Not sure... then too bad... | 2011-11-06 20:49:00 Author: Unknown User |

Thats a very Gud idea! though im fairly sure you cannot capture the intangable made objects! http://lbp-me.lbp2blog.com/sigs/level/7kfrqx/0/1/sig.png (http://lbp.me/v/7kfrqx) | 2011-11-06 21:00:00 Author: danx87 Posts: 59 |
