The Stone Bridge

Archive: 8 posts

A prequel to Darkening Dreams. The level has very mild gameplay with lots of hidden bubbles. The main focus of the level was visuals and poetic story/dialogue. The level is heavily inspired by Ico and Shadow of the Colossus with some references to those games. Hope you enjoy the level for the purpose it was intended for. As always, any feedback would be great and appreciated. Here are some pictures:

I'm not queuing this one...because it's loading right now! come on! Load faster! Yay, ok here we go. Nice visuals, good bit of rhyming for the story, and I like how you have the title inset there, that's cool. I like the water features and this music is very fitting. BTW, you have got to be the fastest creator I know, just sayin. I tested a portion of this, what, a week ago? Dang, man. Ok, back to playing. Wow, that was a leap. Glad sack guy's legs don't break. maybe a stone elevator? I tell you, the railings on these bridges are impressive, nice underwater section. Am I missing some hidden areas? Hidden point gems or something. Pretty confident I'm getting the hidden bubbles.

ooooh, I like those stone guardians, great design. Nice. I like the way you have the scoreboard come in. Well that was good, dang it, ranked 2nd on the scoreboard.
I liked this a lot and to me it feels more like an exploration level with a touch of platforming, rather than a bunch of puzzles to solve in order to proceed. You did an awesome job on the ambiance of the level as it feels like I'm exploring some ancient ruins. I like the story and can't wait to see where it takes us next. Outstanding job as always shookie! well done.

As always, your feedback is great dude. Thanks for always taking the time to play and feedback. Its a short level if you don't do any bubble hunting and the thermo exploded on me like never before. I considered doing a level link but there was not really too much that could be added. I'm happy with the results and don't regret not making this a platformer. Its good to venture out and do something different now and then. Thanks again bio!2011-11-06 02:26:00

I really liked this level, it has a great atmosphere and design. I have to disagree with Biorogue a tiny bit though. I really enjoyed the exploration, but would have liked some sort of stone wheel puzzles.

There is nothing lacking without them though.

The rhyming is something I haven't seen before in LBP and it really added to the theme and atmosphere, I also would have liked to be able to climb the statues a bit more, but again it doesn't take away anything that you can't.

I think that this level serves it's purpose as I want to see more of this style and am interested in exploring more of this world.

I never thought I'd lend LBP2 away to a friend. I'll play anything you make and I'll play this when I get my game back.2011-11-06 12:38:00

@mr. Fusion, thanks for the feedback. I had actually planned on having more in depth gameplay, but as I was building and decorating, the thermo was explosive, so I decided to just mainly focus on the visuals and art side as well as hidden bubbles. This is a prequel to an existing published level called Darkening Dreams, which maintains the visual and artistic approach as well as more involved gameplay, if you wanna check that out. Another level in the series is called eastern gate to the forsaken desert and mainly focuses on mild puzzle solving. Thanks again, glad you liked it.

@basketsnake, hope you get your game back and that way you can add me on psn, maybe revisit honeyland. Glad you enjoy my work, its appreciated!

Awesome job on yet another well-made level.

VISUALS:
The architectures are neatly polished with material usage, and the lighting looks cool.

SOUND:
Good sound and music use.

GAMEPLAY:
Despite the level's length, the platforming puzzle gameplay is a blast. The grappling hook and real water usage is very good. The secret bubbles are a nice addition to this level, too.

OVERALL:
The level feels a bit short, but it makes up for great gameplay and visuals. A yay and heart.
