Odd Emiter Problem

Archive: 6 posts

While creating, I was attempting to tweak an emitter, but somehow, the emitter sunk into the hologram making it unselectable or even tweakable. It still works with the imput, but can not be changed. Even if I copy it then replace it, it will still be inside of it. All I was hoping for would be to find a way to get this out or even delete this.2011-11-05 16:16:00

Was the holo material initially on a thin layer that you changed to thick? Also, you could change the holo to thin layer and see if it becomes selectable. And another cause would be the holo is also tweakable, and not allowing you to select the emitter. You could try selecting the entire object and enlarging it to increase resolution, then zoom as tight as possible to see if it becomes selectable. And if all else fails, change the holo to wood, tweak your emitter, then change wood back to holo (the easiest approach).2011-11-05 16:56:00

I've had this happen too, but in my case I can select the Emitter right at its center. If I just press Square I get the Holo tweak menu, but if I press X (right at the center of the Emitter) and then press Square, it works.
Changing wood also works, unless of course it overlaps with some other physics. You might try changing holo to sticker panel, I haven't had the same problem there.

Nah, sticker panel stick out of materials even more than holo. It would be worse. Square-selecting the emitter worked for me. Then you just have to move it and it comes back in front of the object.2011-11-06 17:28:00

Yeah, sticker panel shows in from of other materials. But in my own experience, it doesn't stick out over the emitter, so far anyway.
One other thing you could do is put the emitter on a microchip, and leave the chip open while you're building.

The problem is actually when using the material replace function, changing the material to a visibly thicker wall doesn't move the gadgets on it forward.2011-11-09 01:12:00
