How do I make posters, a la the ones in Skunk Factory?

Archive: 10 posts

I've been trying and trying, but I just can't figure out how Bobtox does it, dag blast it! If you're wondering what the blazes i'm talking about, maybe you haven't played the Skunk Factory series.

If you have, do you remember those posters on the walls saying things like "the boss is good" and such? HOW DO I MAKE THOSE!!!???

Thanks in advance

probably the sticker panel and the fonts you can get from the community. Comphermc has a nice selection. i'm going to queue this just so i can see exactly what you mean lol

edit: do you mean these?

that's just cleaver use of what is already there. perhaps a picture of a soda can and a picture from the incredibles pack combined with fonts from the community. or he could have made those letters on the PC, taken a pic with his PSEye and then sharpened them up with the paint tool

The paint tool wasn't out when this was build. So it uses glitched text stickers.2011-11-05 03:26:00

it just looks like layering of objects. It's very clean but the Soda can looks a little blurred so I guess it is 3D and the other stuff might be neon or blue wood or even cardboard. Taken on the side and then 90% rotated?2011-11-06 03:25:00

I still don't get how you would do that though. Also, how did he get his own lettering font for Skunk in there? Or is that what you mean by the neon/blue wood?

yeah... remember you have 4 thin and 3 Thick layers and if you are in front view it looks pretty flat. I could be completely wrong; but I'd guess that the back thin is a large flat textured material with a red sticker on it, or some neon set to red. The starburst is probably on the thick layer, and the Skunk lettering would be a custom font on the next thin layer, as would be the sticker of Jack Jack.

The two cans are 3D objects stickered and would be on the next thick layer.

You then rotate this 90 degrees to take a photo. I would guess that the reason the letters on the bottom are cut out of the starburst with such a thick edge is that the photo tool compression would have given very messy edges if the line was finer.

The sticker glitch happened randomly to people, where a wall turned black and taking pictures of objects in front of it made a transparent background.
It makes bad quality pictures though, compared to the paint tool. And you couldn't capture the glitch, so you had to share only the pictures or place the level online.

Looks like he just made his own sticker.

You guys probably do this all the time when making level patches.

Most of this is sticker work, place some custom fonts (like you do anytime you want a picture of a word), place any objects in the frame, and take a pic.

If you want it poster length, grab everything and turn it on its side, then take a pic.

Time consuming, but not hard. At least, that's how I would do it.

Or, you could see how friendly Bob is, and ask him in a PSN message.
