Through the Dust

Try out my brand new level. I came upon an interesting lighting concept and i decided to create this level to try it out. The photos are pretty dark on here, but it is much brighter in the game. Any feedback would be appreciatee. Thanks

This is a platforming level through-and-through, with only a few departures from the normal in terms of gameplay. What makes this one stick out for me is definitely the mood set by the scenery and lighting; the entire level is blanketed with a feeling of almost being lost, and a few crumbling set pieces help add to that effect of disrepair in general.

The mechanics all work solidly, and at no point did I run into any glitches. The lack of sound for the majority of the level was kind of off-putting, but bearable since the Ace in the Hole here was the swirling vortex background and the foggy, dusty red lighting.

A good level to play if you're not looking to invest yourself in a story, as the platforming here is pretty much in place, it seems, as a good excuse to take in a barren-feeling atmosphere. Overall not bad at all, nice job.

definitely has a unique look to it and there is solid gameplay. I had one issue where I was at the lift and it didn't move so I was about to hop off and it started moving, I fell off and it didn't return so I was unable to complete. did a fantastic job overall though.2011-11-05 22:05:00

Just played your level..

All I can say is wow, this level is awesome!
I've never seen this visual style before and the gameplay was solid, great job!

A very nice level, I like that there is no directions and you rely on looking at the environment but there are a few parts that were hard to see, and I don't mean because of the dust.

The very first obstacle where you slide down the rope could have been a tad clearer. The box just above the spikes and the point bubbles in the recess on the left hand side, this layout led my eye past the pulley you are supposed to grab on to. I tried to jump out onto the platform, and the next life I tried to drop down into the recess. I then noticed the pulley.

Later on there is a section with several ladders. From earlier experience I was expecting jump pads at the foot of each one, but there is no problem that only some do, but maybe a visual hint telling you which ones do would help (even if it were a small raised bump in the ground).

You are also encouraged to jump off of a ladder down to a lower platform when you do you are rewarded with some points, you then do the same thing again and jump into spikes. It might help if the spikes were visible at the bottom of the screen, but even if the ladders over the spikes looked broken it may be a helpful hint that jumping down would be bad.

The only 'buggy' thing that happened to me was in the part where the platform spawns for you to jump on and it goes up and then right. I missed the jump and fell into the spikes, but I guess I was in the wrong layer and missed them, falling to the floor of the stage. I was standing on the small lip when this happened.

Only little suggestions and their absence did not take away from my enjoyment of such a fantastic stage. Great work!
