Take this with a grain of salt, but some guy who has been in the industry for 12 years as a writer for 1up and bitomb has said he has news of what is essentially a Sony Smash Bros clone. Today he has updated with some minor info, so while you of course still have to not fully believe him, still seems kinda odd, and a bit fun to think about. http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2011/11/03/new-gameplay-details-on-sonys-smash-bros-fighter-exclusive-to-paul-gale-network/ | 2011-11-03 20:28:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
I can see Sackboy working a bit like Kirby, using Popit to copy an oponents costume and gaining one of their attacks. | 2011-11-03 21:34:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Awesome! Drake pushing over a statue seems a bit cartoonish for his character, however I will be very pleased if this turns out to be true. I remember my entire saturdays were spent Playing Super smash Bros N64 at my friends house Sackboy might have a move where he grabs onto a rocket cart and flys through the screen, lighting all of his enemies on fire, and on landing haveing the rocket cart blow into a million peices, knocking everyone but him off the stage | 2011-11-04 01:05:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
No, Sackboy's Super would be that he calls in the Negativitron. | 2011-11-06 23:00:00 Author: junk-Warrior7 Posts: 276 |
No, Sackboy's Super would be that he calls in the Negativitron. No no no. Emitter trap that is instantly pushed off by an exploding rocket cheetah that plays a farting sound as it hits the cage, all while My Patch is playing. This is LittleBigPlanet we're talking about. | 2011-11-07 00:32:00 Author: Testudini Posts: 3262 |
Well, anyway. According to HipHopGamer... who apparently is a credible source and is responsible for Kratos being in Mortal Kombat... Sony will officially announce this January 11th. Sooooo yeah. Take that for what you will. Though I do find it odd that the LittleBigPlanet stage has Buzz in it <_> | 2011-11-07 00:38:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Sackboy opens his popit, grabs it, and smacks the player in front of him off of the stage with the popit menu. | 2011-11-07 03:43:00 Author: alaskadawn Posts: 101 |

I think it is interesting but sony looks like they are just wanting to be nintendo. Sony trying to be like Nintendo? You're crazy. It's not like Sony made a motion peripheral and had a game with Sonic in it... | 2011-11-08 04:50:00 Author: alaskadawn Posts: 101 |

I hope theat we'll be seeing Ezio Aditore. I don't know if cole McGrath is there is he? We also need a Nyan Cat | 2011-11-13 02:49:00 Author: lark98-2 Posts: 116 |
I hope theat we'll be seeing Ezio Aditore. I don't know if cole McGrath is there is he? We also need a Nyan Cat I can't see them not including Cole. He is popular AND electric attacks would make him very unique. Ezio is owned by Ubisoft, and though they might be adding James Bond, having 20 or so characters in total makes me hope they focus primarily on Sony characters. Plus they'd have to pay everyone who allows their character in the game. And I doubt they would include some random meme. Assuming this is real, of course. | 2011-11-13 03:02:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Shall we guess who's in it? Ratchet Kratos Cole Bond Sackboy Sly Jak Nathan Drake Someone from Killzone (Don't know any other than Helghast) An Ape Escape Monkey Ezio Chimera (Or someone from Resistance) Lara Croft The Apprentice (Force Unleashed) Crash Spyro (These two are unlikely but it's a wish list) Mario :3 I didn't add in multiple characters from a franchise but I could see sidekicks being added. | 2011-11-13 11:13:00 Author: Jedi_1993 Posts: 1518 |
If your too lazy to click the link, heres info on the LBP Stage: LittleBigPlanet’s stage has the best music of any arena yet at this point. That could also be a matter of opinion, but when it’s common for levels to eventually restart their musical score (sometimes more on the too noticeable and distracting side), the LittleBigPlanet stage seems to continue sounding pleasant all 3 minutes of the fight. I mentioned before that if you pick up a Buzz! remote, Buzz! himself will come on stage and ask you different trivia questions. Two examples I can give you that show the difference between “easy” and “hard” questions that the dev team is having fun with: 1) What game series is Kratos from? 2) What was LittleBigPlanet’s name while in development? Once again, jump on the platform with the correct answer and you’re safe. Answer incorrectly, and a pie coming from the screen (your perspective) will hit your character and KO him or her. | 2011-11-13 14:14:00 Author: DominationMags Posts: 1840 |
You Probably Thought This Was a real Game. Nope, chuck Testa! (Sorry...I couldn't resist) Edit: On a more serious note, personally I'd love to play as one of the Sly Cooper Charachters: sly, bentley or Murray. I also hope this comes out before 2013! | 2011-11-13 15:36:00 Author: Valeview Posts: 1581 |
I will welcome this game with open arms if it's real, simply because I would really like a Smash Bros.-like game with competent online. Having characters like Cole, Sackboy & Ratchet in one game wouldn't hurt either. (I'm ignoring PlayStation Move Heroes because despite liking all three series that game drew from, it was apparently a piece of crap.) | 2011-11-13 18:35:00 Author: Behonkiss Posts: 229 |
We also need a Nyan Cat Possibly an Item that when used commits massive damage? Kind of like the Dragoon ship item in SSB | 2011-11-13 23:09:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
(I'm ignoring PlayStation Move Heroes because despite liking all three series that game drew from, it was apparently a piece of crap.) Having bought and played it to completion I can assure you it's not crap just average. If you've got the move stuff already it's worth picking up but only if it's cheap. | 2011-11-14 23:01:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

I agree with whoever said Sackboy could be like Kirby. (Best SSBB dude ever BTW) Heck, he's already got most of the other characters costumes from DLC anyway. Say: He whips his pop-it out and it wraps around another player and pulls them in and sackboy absorbs the power. Something like that? This will be absolutely amazing if it is confirmed. Day 1 buy. | 2011-11-17 06:41:00 Author: jalr2d2 Posts: 256 |
Btw why is the thread called " Sony Super Smash Bros Clone"? You do realize there are plenty multy-game characters fighting game out there. Yes I know, not the most original idea, but those games are always nice, usually pretty fun. | 2011-11-17 06:55:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

Anyways, lets stop this pointless fight, it may be or may be not, I suppose neither of us can really tell right now. I never said it was 100% true. I said it was a rumor. The rumor was that it was a Smash bros clone. Then you said I shouldn't say what the rumor was? The entire rumor is based around what that one guy said. He said it was a Smash clone. Then you come and say I shouldn't say what the rumor is because... why? | 2011-11-17 17:19:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
I have to say, I'm not fond of fighting games other than Smash Bros, so I'd love this to be as similar as possible, but I imagine I'll be dissapointed. I have to say Sony don't really have a huge array of different characters, most are just people. How many of the SSBB roster are human, I can't recall. It's not loads I think. If it's true, of course. | 2011-11-17 22:12:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |

I haven't read the full article, but it would be cool to see our eight centimeter friend in a n SSBB-esque fighting game for PS3, let alone get an SSBB-esque fighting game for PS3. As for any characters I'd expect, well, I haven't really played many games like Ratchet & Clank, God of War or Assassin's Creed, although I did play the first infamous game and some Sly Cooper way back, and it would be cool to see Sly and Cole make an appearance. Even though this character never made it to PS3, Okami, with the wolf, with the soul of Amaterasu inside it, originated on the PS2, and I'd love to see it in this SSBB-esque fighting Sony game, if it were to be true and came out. I only watched the trailer and began Okami, but I think it would be cool using some of the controls and the celestial paintbrush. As for the controls, still be able to bite and tackle of course, but also, like I said, use your paintbrush powers. Now, in Okami, when you use the celestial pintbrush, it pauses the whole world aorund you practically, but of course, this is multiplayer, so of course have everything keep moving normally when using the brush. Like I said, I only just began, but maybe have a few techniques, such as the wind blowing power, which could try to sort of move characters in tht direction, if they're in the way. But maybe, if that's too secretive for it to just show up, show the paintbrush in use, even before the action is made, like while you're using the brush, it shows to everyone else, or whatever. | 2011-11-18 18:52:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
Mario Luigi Peach Wario Link Toon Link Zelda/Sheik Ganondorf (I think, not too clued up of Zelda lore) Ness Lucas Marth Ike Snake So, there's only a few So that's what, 13/35? So about 37%, which isn't too bad. I'm really stuggling to come up with non-humans for Sony, other than Sackboy, Ratchet and Sly. Still, it's a pretty minor thing to complain about, the point I'm trying to make is that Nintendo seems to have a more diverse range of characters to choose from, which is why I think this might not be as good. Having said that, I may only think this because I don't use my PS3 for anything other than LBP xD | 2011-11-18 19:13:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
I imagine Cloud and Sephiroth will be in there somewhere, being arguably the most popular RPG icons in history for Sony, but I refuse to read the article until I know it is 100 % true. This is a list of everything Sony owns http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Computer_Entertainment#Owned_franchises_and_p roperties if we're speculating about who's going to be in might as well start there. Of these, I can imagine the following will appear one way or another: Ape Escape Buzz! Dead Nation EyePet Gran Turismo God of War Heavenly Sword inFamous Invizimals Killzone Lemmings LittleBigPlanet Loco Roco ModNation Racers Patapon Ratchet and Clank Resistance Sly Cooper Wipeout Based purely on what I've heard of and stuff. I imagine a few of those would be Assist Trophy-esque stuff (EyePet would fit this well), and others maybe just stages (Resistance maybe?). Of course, Smash Bros. had stuff I've never heard of, so I imagine a few more could sneak there way in (plus I've probably missed something). I imagine Snake, being a guy who seems to get around a lot, would manage to get in as well. | 2011-11-18 21:26:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
Im expecting to see more than just a stage for Resistance. The Chimera have been in Uncharted! Also, The Helgan from KIllzone pretty much fit the bill for a Sony Title fighter. | 2011-11-18 22:30:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
Im expecting to see more than just a stage for Resistance. The Chimera have been in Uncharted! Also, The Helgan from KIllzone pretty much fit the bill for a Sony Title fighter. The guy says that Radec will be a character. Ya. On the off chance that anyone didn't bother reading what he said, this is what he said the current cast of characters is confirmed as: Radec- Killzone Kratos- God of War Parappa- Da Rappa Drake- Fortune Sly Cooper- That Sly Dog... er... racoon Sweet Tooth- Twisted Metal Fat Princes- NOMNOMNOMNOM And stages from LittleBigPlanet and Jak and Daxter. anyway, that there would be seven characters, and he says there would be about 20... I'd say Cole is a given, cause of popularity and the gameplay possibilities of his electric powerset. Jak and Daxter wuld be cool, though maybe as just one character rather then two (dunno if any Sony property would be worth two out of twenty slots :/). Also, to RPG Maker, I wouldn't bet on that seeing the whole Sony not owning them thing. Sure, they could pay Square for the characters... but then that would mena they'd have to pay Square for the characters. Also, I'd imagine they'd choose Lightning just cause she's newer and stuff <_> But ya, anywhom... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee | 2011-11-18 23:37:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Jak and Daxter wuld be cool, though maybe as just one character rather then two (dunno if any Sony property would be worth two out of twenty slots :/). I can see potential in having Daxter as a seperate fighter, he can fill the roll of a smaller/weaker/lighter fighter that has quicker attacks. | 2011-11-19 00:14:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Yeah, I can also see said potential. I could also see the potential of having them be fused into one. Well, if he is his own separate character, he should be a secret unlockable one. Just cause. | 2011-11-19 00:20:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

If Daxter was to be a separate character he'd be similar to Pichu, which was a weaker (very retarded) version of Pikachu. I don't own a PS3 but if this game is even remotely similar and as fun as SSB I could see a lot of people buying a PS3 for it. SSB was so much fun. I remember how when a pokeball dropped onto the map, all hell would break loose and everyone would stop fighting and immediately run over to pick it up. Pokeballs were awesome. Which brings me to ask this question. What about items? What do you guys think? Will there even be items? I would hope so since the rumor states it's a SSB clone. What items would you guys like to see in the game? | 2011-11-19 22:46:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

What items would you guys like to see in the game? The guy said that stages would have arena specific items, like the LittlebigPlanet one will have a Buzz remote (don't ask me why), and the Jak and Daxter one would have a Hot Shots Pro Golf one (again, don't ask me why). Supposed to only be in those levels, though both announced are the 1 hit kill ones (the Buzz one asks you Sony based questions, you jump on the platform with the right answer to not die, whereas the Golf one will have the characters in the background fire flaming golf balls at you which you'd need to evade). There may still be smaller ones that can be on multiple levels, but those are what is announced. Also, personally I hope most of the stuff would be related to Sony. I shouldn't need to say how disappointed I am Brawl's story mode was all generic fields aside from the Halberd, but most items were made up for Smash. The Assist Trophies were a nice touch, but there were way more Pokemon then Assist Trophies :/. Anyway, hope pretty much everything in this game is taken from another game (well, you know, it IS supposed to be a crossover thing). And I am hoping for a story mode that is kind of like Brawls (though I guess they'd need to make the levels more suited for the gameplay mechanics :/), only have anything to do with the games. That'd be awesome, yo. | 2011-11-19 23:07:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

So basically, you just said a random fact that had no connection to anything else? Well, ok then. Metaknight and Snake are cheap. No. You were talking about the story mode for the game and Master Hand is part of the story in SSB. So it has lots of connections. No. You were talking about the story mode for the game and Master Hand is part of the story in SSB. So it has lots of connections. Now drop it. ... ? Wait. What? No, the story mode in Brawl was the Subspace Emissary. Master Hand had nothing to do with that. What's more, I said that Smash had too many things that were not from the source material. Master Hand was not from the source material, and was just made up for Smash Bros. So if anything, that just proves my point. What's more, I did not mention anything about Master Hand. I said levels in Brawl were made up for Brawl and not taken from the source material for the most part, and bosses would mean the same thing. So basically you were saying that there was a boss who proved my point? But you said nothing else. You just mentioned that Master Hand, something no one else mentioned, was a boss, despite no one saying anything about bosses, and then left no clue as to what that has to do with anything. Forgive me if I am confused as to what the hell is going through your mind. | 2011-11-20 03:13:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Forgive me if I am confused as to what the hell is going through your mind. Let me explain since you are having IMMENSE trouble in understanding my posts. You >> Story mode Me >> Master Hand (part of story mode. I also stated in my post I was talking about SSB, never did I say anything about Brawl) You >> Blah blah blah story mode Me >> Master Hand (still a part of the story, whether or not it's part of Brawl's story or not. So it still is relevant to your post, which was about the story. I don't have to agree or disagree with your point, it has nothing to do with anything.) EDIT: Furthermore, a post doesn't have to be a response to what you, or anyone else mentioned. Like I said, there are connections in my post. The connection being STORY MODE. | 2011-11-20 03:28:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
... Yes, but my point had nothing to do with Story Mode. I said nothing about Master Hand. I said I wanted the features to take more from Sony's games. How does mentioning a completely unrelated character was a boss, a fact I never disputed nor brought up, have to do with anything? Yes, blah blah blah, Story mode. That was still not the topic of conversation. Let us use an analogy, shall we? Let us say we were discussing, oh, let's say, the Nazi's military strategies during World War II. In the middle of discussing Hitler's invasion of Russia, let's say some person said "Patton was a World War II general", despite Patton not having anything to do with the conversation at hand, beyond World War II of course. Now, personally, I would consider the person who blurted this out to be mentally deficient (obviously I'd try to be careful around them). And that is the reason I am so confused. I have known you too long to believe you are truly mentally deficient, and thus am confused as to why you would respond with a statement like such. Unless, of course, you are merely trolling me, as you so frequently do. If so, then well done. Personally, I have also had the urge to randomly pop up in conversations and say a random fact with little to no connection with the topic at hand, but I thought I was the only one. Wow Rock sure knows how to make mountains out of molehills. xD Anyways, what characters do you guys think should be in, either in the main game or DLC? Maybe some of the classics, like Crash, or such? Perhaps only from more popular recent games like Cole from inFamous or Altair/ Eizo. A little Farfetched, but perhaps John Marston or some GTA character(s) Or even more farfetched, Characters from Portal 2 (seeing as chell was shown on the latest PS3 commercial with a lot of PS3 characters.) wether it be Chell or Atlas/ P-Body. Can't really think of many right now. | 2011-11-20 05:09:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Perhaps Ezio from Assassins Creed seems to be the more popular figure, and as Rock suggested, maybe Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII( as much as I hated her character development). This one may be even more far fetched, but perhaps Commander Shepard from Mass Effect games. But given the state of gaming these days, I suspect a third of the roster to come as DLC Heres to hoping Rachet plays exactly like Star Fox in SSBM... | 2011-11-20 14:12:00 Author: Rpg Maker Posts: 877 |
Characters from Portal 2 (seeing as chell was shown on the latest PS3 commercial with a lot of PS3 characters.) wether it be Chell or Atlas/ P-Body. Anyone for an Aperature Laboratory stage with portals placed around the rooms, and Glados making cracks at the worst and best players, kind of like the Resetti Assist trophy? I would pick that stage every time. | 2011-11-20 22:41:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
I think Master Hand wa sin the Subspace Emmissary, did Wario, Bowser and Ganandorf not serve him until it turned out he was just a way of Tabuu communicating to them?[/nerdwhoknowstoomuchaboutBrawl] I do however think everyone here (myself included) are thinking this'll basically be an exact replica of Brawl and deep down we all know it won't ;-; | 2011-11-21 17:08:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |

Sorry, seems like that guy's twitter was deleted. But before it went down, there was pretty much proof. And now he's most likely fired. I'm guessing anyway. I'd hope sony would at least try to make it somewhat unique. maybe make it 3d, allowing you to travel around the enviroment a bit more or sumin, but a carbon copy of a nintendo game is just a cheap attempt at getting money. maybe they'll let us create our own environments? | 2011-11-27 10:55:00 Author: Smudge228 Posts: 533 |
Who else would like to see a cool story mode linking all these characters together and having them interact? Subspace Emissary was kind of cool in Brawl, but I was bummed that they didn't have the characters talk. | 2011-11-29 00:16:00 Author: Behonkiss Posts: 229 |

I hope they don't go through with this. I can already see the trainwreck this is going to end up in: ? everything is unbalanced ? too 'serious' and not fun or cartoony lands the game with low scores ? Nintendo reveals Brawl or other SMB fighter remakes for 3DS ? the game is forgotten and now a bargain bin game like the Sly, Jak, and Rachet Move game At least make it a PSN exclusive, Sony. You'd be taking a huge risk marketing such a hit-and-miss game like that. | 2012-04-22 00:55:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Completely forgot about this, but I think my point still stands. People will no doubt compare this to Brawl, and as many others have said, Sony doesn't have enough interesting, non-super-serious characters to choose from. | 2012-04-24 17:31:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |

I still don't think sony would be foolish enough to directly copy nintendo, espicialy after the stick it got for modnation, which really wasn't much of a copy anywho. I think based on the available characters and the current trends in gaming, a third person action versus game would be more likely. like uncharted 3 multiplayer but less gun oriented, and with all the wacky worlds of sony. | 2012-04-24 21:50:00 Author: Smudge228 Posts: 533 |

Smash Bros. wasn't the first fighting game, so I haven't been saying this is (too much) of a rip off, but after watching that, seeing characters fly around really far, no obvious signs of health, and this seems to be ring out type of fight. Ring out + mashup of different franchises = Smash Bros rip off. Sadly, I would have still bought it with no hesitation, but those stages are pushing me away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=v1bQSw7FOUQ From Destructoid (http://www.destructoid.com/hands-on-preview-playstation-all-stars-battle-royale-226561.phtml) The rumors were true, and now that I've played it, I'm glad. Sony has been working on a mashup fighting game that pits many of their first-party characters against each other in a Smash Bros. style four-player match. This brawler was shown off for the first time earlier this week at a PlayStation press event, where I got to mash buttons playing as Kratos, Parappa the Rapper, Sly Cooper and others. They call it PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and it's going to be a pretty big deal. While All-Stars pulls from two decades of Sony game history, we were only shown six characters and four stages at this event. This means that you should probably get ready for the inevitable slow character rollout, with what's sure to be more reveals at E3 later this year. Still, this early look was enough to get a solid picture of what to expect in the final version, and from what I've seen they have a pretty good thing going on here. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3) Developer: SuperBot/Sony Santa Monica Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment Releases: 2012 PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is being developed by SuperBot, a company purpose built within Sony Santa Monica for the job. The team consists of members with extensive backgrounds in fighting and combat titles, and they come with an understanding of how their title will have to appeal to a wide audience, satisfying both casual gamers and hardcore fighting game fans. We've only seen a small taste, but it's clear that these guys know their ****. Through their work, the game's control is really easy to learn, and not unlike other four-player brawlers out there. Either the left analog stick or the d-pad controls movement of your character. I found that I like the d-pad a bit more as button commands can be combined with directional presses to access additional moves, with the d-pad giving me better control of those. The right stick will let you perform throws, with different ones assigned to each direction. The X button jumps, and the other three face buttons are assigned to different attacks. L1 blocks and R1 picks up items. The last control, assigned to R2, executes a super move. While fighting, you'll build up a meter that lets you perform a super move that knocks out characters. Also, some attacks knock AP (action points) out of opponents, letting others pick them up to fill up these meters. There are three levels of supers, each one stronger than the last, and each requiring another filling of this meter. If you can manage to land hits and survive long enough, a level three super can knock out all other players, earning you points. This brings us to All-Stars' battle system and scoring. Victory goes to the player with the highest number of KOs; knocking out a character adds to your score while being knocked out subtracts from it. So, there's nothing in the way of health bars here, as health doesn't really matter in the long run. This makes for a game that's really easy to get into, as there's no technical scoring to learn. I played with each of the reveal characters a few times to check out their move sets and supers. Each of the six are quite different from one another, with varied play styles that Smash Bros fans will probably feel right at home with. That said, Smash players should not expect an All-Stars character parallel. While this game looks similar, it feels much different. Here's a quick rundown of the six debut characters: Parappa the Rapper: Parappa is small and fast; a short-range melee character. His moves come right out of Chop Chop Master Onion's kung-fu dojo, though you'll have to be right up on your opponents to connect with most of them. One of his most useful moves is also pretty funny: he brings out his Boxy Boy boom box (it arrives with the classic "Aw yeah!" hip-hop sample) to the play field, where it spews AP bubbles that can be picked up to charge super meters. Smart players were using the boom box to level up and use Parappa's skateboard super, which dashes through and knocks out anyone in sight. It's a total **** move, but it works, and wins matches. Radec: Killzone character Radec isn't as cute as our favorite dog rapper, but he makes up for it with badassness. He's quite the opposite of Parappa, working best as a long-distance attacker, with projectiles and lasers that easily land hits on the opposite side of the play field. His level one super gives the player a reticule that can be placed over any character to direct a large-scale fire attack. Sweet Tooth: Those wanting to play as a strong bully will want to choose Twisted Metal's scary clown hero. He's huge and all about space control, with attacks that can send you flying. Up close he hits really hard, so stay away if you can. I loved using him to shoulder check enemies to send flying across the screen. His level three special is flashy, bringing fire and parts flying out of the sky to his body to turn him into Mechatooth, armed with a machine gun that will easily mow all opponents down. Fat Princess: No one picked the big girl in the first rounds, but I found that she was one of my favorites after trying her out. I fell in love after seeing her match opening animation, which has her instantly plumping up after downing a piece of cake. Princess has swinging mid-range attacks that are fast and reliable, and they provide good defense, as a lot of jumping and blind swinging can take place. She's surprisingly agile and has lots of power. Sly Cooper: Sly is unique in that he has no defense at all. Instead, and true to his character, he can turn invisible by hitting the block button. This makes him quite a bit more sneaky, as he can get behind opponents to use his special moves in close range. His normal attacks glide him from platform to platform, and he can fly/attack diagonally, making him great at recovery. Kratos: Anyone that has enjoyed any of the God of War games will feel right at home with Kratos, as he plays exactly the same in All-Stars. He's the best all-arounder of the initial line-up, with a mix of both ranged and close quarters moves. His spin attacks take up huge space, and his spear-based pokes will push you back. He's a beast. Developer SuperBot has done some fantastic work with the stages shown so far. Rather than simply re-creating part of a game's universe as a backdrop, they've taken elements from many Sony IPs and have mashed them together to make for some really crazy interactive settings. One stage, Dreamscape, looks like it came straight out of LittleBigPlanet, complete with stage creation pop-up menus in the background, randomly selecting platform pieces for you and your opponents to overcome. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the screens in the back of the stage become a backdrop for a Buzz! quiz show, with Buzz coming out to ask random trivia questions. In one fight we were asked, "Which Sony handheld was released in 2011." The text from the four multiple choice answers fly over each fighter, and it seems you're supposed to attack the correct answer. It's strange, but it works, and makes for some really wacky fights. The other three stages we saw were just as fun. The Hades stage starts out looking just like God of War, but the background transitions to feature scenes and characters from Patapon, cute cheering and song included. Another stage called Metropolis is straight out of Ratchet and Clank at first, with its moving platforms and conveyer belts, but then rain starts to pour, and a huge hydra pops up from the back to attack fighters. My favorite stage mixes a Jak and Daxter village with Hot Shots Golf. From nowhere, with no notice, Hot Shots characters begin using the play field as a driving range, with ultra-hot golf balls raining down on you and your opponents like missiles. These stages are so well done that I can't wait to see what they haven't shown us yet. Most of the matches I played were frantic free-for-alls that had us hitting each other in any way possible in an effort to get those meters filled up. The action is fast and crazy, with all four players hoping around trying to avoid attacks as well as get off some of their own. Early bouts had us all on about an equal playing field, but as some learned the strengths and ranges of the characters, a divide quickly formed. We all soon learned that winners were always the ones that were able to get off the most super move attacks, and this realization had us all adjusting our approach. Attacks came even faster and players kept close to each other in an effort to fill up their super meters, making the action even more intense. It's a bit early to raise concerns about balance, but I already see a potential issue with the scoring being based solely on knockouts. Anyone outside of casual players will approach All-Stars knowing that it's all about filling up that meter to use your super first, and then most often. It would make sense then that players would seek out the character with the most powerful level one super move, and in our play sessions that's exactly what happened. We had a small tournament, and in the final rounds most people were using Parappa, knowing that his devastating skateboard super easily knocks out everyone onscreen. That said, there's still more of the game we haven't seen, and we're probably not seeing the bigger picture at this point. One thing we can get excited about already is the control, because it's outstanding. SuperBot really nailed it. It's fast, super-responsive, and never gets in the way of the crazy action. The in-air stuff is not floaty at all; jumps do what you need them to, when you need them to. I never had a problem blocking, platforming or recovering. From the dozen or so matches I played I can tell you that if you die, it's 100 percent on you -- the control is that tight. After several matches I came away pretty excited about All-Stars. Smash rip-off? Who cares! It's so fun that I'm not even drawing the connection anymore. It's so easy to get in and get wrapped up that I found that a string of fights takes place before you know it. Even with only six characters and four stages I'm sure I could have played all night if permitted. The characters are are an obvious draw, and with their fantastic control you want to keep playing them. The mashed-up stages are also a riot, and are all eye candy to boot. If they get the balance down pat and add the right characters, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will be a smashing success. I'm sure they can pull it off, as the foundation has already been laid for a great fighting game. | 2012-04-27 08:22:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

I agree with Rock, while I like the changing backgrounds in the LBP stage, I wish they didn't have to mash up Buzz with it. If Buzz is important enough to them to be put in, they could've just given him his own map, instead of mixing him up with what is probably the ONLY map for LBP. Oh, and yeah, don't like how they mixed a golf course with Jak & Daxter. Why couldn't they just make it like it originally was. ._. (But I must ask, is that Sandover village depicted as a golf course, I've only played the first one, which I am still playing actually, of the collection. I wonder how Kratos will look close up, plus I do hope they add characters like R&C, Sackboy, Jak & Daxter and Cole Mcgrath. Seeing how I'm pretty sure I saw a glimpse of Quark being punched, then that would probably guarentee R&C a spot. EDIT: Yeah, it looks like a mix between Sandover Village and Sentinel Beach. EDIT 2: OH wait, Quark was only in the background. | 2012-04-27 13:53:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

OK.... so I was wrong, its a blatant knock off. Ah well, I've never played smash bros, so it'll feel fresh too me, and off course the playstation characters are more too my taste ( I've only ever owned sony systems) In order to be competative, it needs a map editor of some kind, a rules editor, dlc character and map add ons, and a huge opening roster of both characters and maps. | 2012-04-27 16:20:00 Author: Smudge228 Posts: 533 |

It looks like a rip-off. I'll still buy it I think that's the point really. Sony hasn't had a game like this ever and some people bought a Wii (The opposition) just to play Brawl. (I got it because of Brawl and Mario Kart, but mainly Brawl.) Personally I'm still looking forward to this, and future character reveals. Hoping for: Sackboy Ratchet Jak Drake I also like that the stages are a mix of two worlds, rather than one. Anyone else agree? | 2012-04-27 17:51:00 Author: Jedi_1993 Posts: 1518 |

Seeing as how Paul Gale correctly predicted this game, as well as the Super attacks, the "Fusion" of LBP and Buzz, and all 6 revealed characters, as well as some other stuff I am forgetting, I'm assuming that everything he leaked is correct. As such, he already confirmed Ratchet, Jak and Drake. In fact, here, http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2011/11/03/new-gameplay-details-on-sonys-smash-bros-fighter-exclusive-to-paul-gale-network/, take a look if you want more info. Even if it does look like a clone at the moment, we can't say it'll be bad because of it. People had the exact same attitude towards LBPK, but it's starting to change. Not saying, of course, that it CAN'T be a ripoff, but we'll see. However, this does compare quite a bit to the SSB series. The only thing that looks different so far gameplay-wise is the "Super Meter" part. I hope it'll be better than it looks, it looks fun. To be honest, I only played the Wii, like someone else said (I forgot who), FOR Brawl. Most other games were third-party cheap party games. At least this looks like a better Sony gather-up than PSHeroes, IMO. :hero: | 2012-04-27 18:11:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
I also like that the stages are a mix of two worlds, rather than one. Anyone else agree? While the idea of mixing two worlds together is nice (considering it is a crossover), I'm not sure if I'm liking the combinations. Like I said, mixing is cool, but then again, having stages mainly for that game aswell. Having maps for Jak & Daxter aswell as LBP are great, but I wasn't too excited seeing them add minimal games like Buzz and Hot Shots with them. I don't have much to say about the God of War/Patapon stage, considering I've played neither. I thought the mix was more interesting, but again, I've played neither game. I'd love to see a Paris stage at night for Sly, but, since every stage shown mixes things up between two games, might aswell just tell us what they're mixing with Sly. It's cool that they gave him Slytenkhamen's invisibility move, along with throwing an alarm clock. I do wonder how the alarm clock will serve in fights though, as in the Sly games, it was to lead enemies to a trap, although since that won't fool others, I'm guessing it'll be more like a little explosive like the little mines Radec spreads around the stage. I'm also curious if Sly will get other moves from his ancestors, and if God of War isn't the only game that'll get matched up in two maps. | 2012-04-27 18:13:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
This looks promising. I really like the concept of crossover backgrounds. It's no insult to call it a Smash rip-off. Super Smash Bros needs to be ripped off! It's a good series but everybody that's played Brawl knows that there's room for improvement, especially in the online features. Nintendo has no incentive to get its act together because no existing four-player mascot fighter has approached Smash's level. Maybe Sony can inspire them to take matters more seriously. | 2012-04-27 19:43:00 Author: Uncuddly Posts: 237 |
Eh. I'm going to have to be the devil's advocate but I think the game is going to fail. I think they should've made it as similar to Smash as possible. Sure the games look extremely the same (heck, Fat Princess has the EXACT same moves as Princess Peach) but Sony changed the core mechanics of the game in order to make it their own, which is why I think the game won't do well. Did you watch the gametrailer videos? -You can't knock people off the map. -You don't take damage or inflict damage. "You get AP bubbles by hitting the other players and you gain your "super" ability which is the ONLY way to kill players. -The "super" ability, from the looks of the video is an insta-kill, and Fat Princess has a super that looks IMPOSSIBLE to dodge (when the little castle people come on screen and start shooting fire balls everywhere, how the hell are you suppose to prevent from dying?) Much like the two dudes in the video said, it's more of an arms race to see who can rack up enough AP bubbles to get their Super charged faster and in turn get more kills. I loved Brawl because it actually took strategy to get your kills. If your damage was high, you'd play a little more defensively. If you saw someone with a high percent of damage, you'd try to focus on that player first. However, this game looks like it'll just be a button mashing contest, to see who can hit who the most. You don't have to worry about getting hurt, you don't have to worry about falling off the stage. Just mash buttons until you get your super. Eh, maybe it was just that one mode they were showing off but it just doesn't look good enough IMO. /rant | 2012-04-27 20:28:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Yeah, I'm not too fond of the "supers", at least not if you can't avoid it. I liked how in Brawl, anyone could get this mega superpower, but I also liked how the people who weren't overcharged had a chance to survive, and of course, falling off ledges and all was nice. | 2012-04-27 23:07:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

You don't have to worry about getting hurt, you don't have to worry about falling off the stage. Just mash buttons until you get your super. Whoa whoa whoa. I like Super Smash Bros., and I've been playing the games since the N64. The game has nothing to do with strategy. In fact, all you really need is skill. Super Smash Bros. (N64) was fun and required someone to actually know what they're doing. "Oh, that guy's character can float for a certain distance. Guess who's going to spam A+↓?" You had no time for strategies, only quick reflexes in how to dodge these things. Items would pop up randomly so it was a matter of who got to them first as well. Melee was a bit unbalanced, but not to a point of no redemption. I would main Mario all the time, because I loved his simple and yet effective move set. Falco was OP and a nuisance, so you needed skill in order to get rid of him, especially with Mario since he specializes in close combat. My cousin would pick Falco and spam A+(← or→, yet I was able to out smart him and dodge his hits. I used no strategy other than dodge reflexes and quick glances at the rest of the screen to spot any useful items. Brawl was a bit of a step backwards. The tripping mechanic was stupid, the 'specials' were a bit unnecessary, and the whole 3rd party characters ruined the Nintendo feel (seriously, Snake?) Oh, and the competitive community slowly made the game feel like Call of Duty, whereas you would have usually play leisurely, you now play with a "OMG noobs use Fox" community during tournaments. Of course, the game was always competitive, and a lot of my friends stopped playing because I would always beat them, but that's different; now the game is too serious. Still, I'm not defending this Sony All-Star Rip-Off. I hated the Rachet, Jak, and Sly game because it was like a stain in those great games' history. This new game is just banking on fan loyalty and character popularity, and it's ruining these characters names (i.e. God of War: Kratos, who was once the hero in a Greek tragedy, has been degrated to plot-ruining sequels, a cameo in Mortal Kombat which wasn't that great considering his move set was clunky, and now this). Right now, I'm just ranting on how you give Super Smash Bros. too much credit in the gameplay and strategy department. /rant of a rant | 2012-04-28 03:02:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |

CONFIRMED: Cole MacGrath Playable in PlayStation All-Stars Kyle from Vivid Gamer writes: The complete PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale character roster is being kept under close wraps, but certain first-party Sony characters seem like a shoe-in to join the fight. Among them is Cole MacGrath, hero (or anti-hero) of the stellar superhero series inFAMOUS. Earlier this evening, Cole's real-life counterpart - actor Eric Ladin - tweeted to Vivid Gamer that he has stepped back into the mo-cap studio to play Cole MacGrath in a game that is NOT an inFAMOUS title. http://vividgamer.com/2012/05/04/rumor-cole-macgrath-playable-in-playstation-all-stars/ http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZTqdWybMNLE/T6REhM7mTwI/AAAAAAAABwk/XJg-WVqZspE/s1600/IMDB.jpg | 2012-05-05 23:04:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
WAIT, Bentley and Murray? I don't expect them to be playable, but if they actually have a role in the story, that would be amazing. As long as Murray gets at least one or two lines of dialogue involving "The Murray" like in Sly 2 and 3, and, presumably 4. (Also, cool to see that Cole, Crash, Spyro and Rayman could be in the game aswell) | 2012-05-05 23:11:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

Here are the characters i want in the game that most of them probably is in it. 1. nathan drake. 2. sackboy. 3. sully. 4. ratchet. 5. clank. 6. jak. 7. daxter. 8. kratos. 9. crash. 10. spyro. | 2012-05-07 04:18:00 Author: Sunbunny23 Posts: 995 |
I can imagine the online experience now: people pick nothing but Nathan and Kratos since they're the most relevant ones on PS3. The fight will be nothing but 'Press X to Win' while Buzz asks you how much water can a person drink, and then Sackboy opens up his Pop-It in the background and adds water to the whole level while Buzz stares into the player's eyes and gives his big punchline: "a lot!" The laugh track is amplified by the water and begins to draw health from the player as the sound increases to get louder, the characters cringing from the ear-shattering laughs from the non existent audience. Players will need to mash X during the 5 hour long quick time event in order to swim out of the water and get back on land, and the first one to succeed to get on land will be given the option of experiencing a 10 day long cutscene directed by Kojima himself, leading up to the glorious moment of receiving the most over powered weapon in video game history that has no background story at all. The match ends with the player slashing at the opponent, mashing all the buttons on the controller while the opponent sits there, waiting, and waiting, and waiting... until the screen fades to black and the credits rolls in, indicating the match is over. And a Trophy pops up. I'm definitely going to buy this game, but the mashed-up stages really, really bug me. Who's bright idea was it to combine Buzz and LBP? And R&C with Hot Shots Golf? Don't forget the release dates were confirmed! October 23 in NA, October 24 in EU. I also hope they reveal a new stage or two tonight. The four already confirmed are kinda overused by now. Huh that's a good idea... Wish they did it. Probably a bit hard to balance (because if the opponent is good at the minigame paraapa gets no points). Anyway, they announced cold and jak, check ps blog for trailers Have you ever played Parrappa? The game is hard to play the first time because you need to go by the beat, not the button's positions. I bet some people will mess up on them, and if not, then Parrappa should at least be allowed to change the environment to this for a while and get a short invincibility boost with a new moveset. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eZcV1UuUzI | 2012-07-15 21:47:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
No I haven't, I'm just saying that it might be a bit underleveled for a level 3 (As as it stands now, you get -1 from all opponents no matter what (which isn't as much of an advantage as so many people say). However, if you do what you say, it's 3 at the most, potentially only 1 or so. Considering that it is feasible for other Supers to get more kills, it seems like it might not be powerful enough). Still a cool idea, though. | 2012-07-15 21:57:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Big Daddy's super doesn't look too powerful, yet he can get a good amount of kills. And invincibility boost with an instant kill moveset will keep players on their toes, so I'd say it's better than the current Parrappa super simply because it's sticking to Parrappa's old school jamming. | 2012-07-15 22:08:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |

On the bright side with the recent changes to + if you buy a 90 day sub for the beta there's enough content to justify the cost. Maybe, but this is Honk Kong PS+. Meaning that your current PS+ doesn't cut it, you need to buy PS+ for your Honk Kong account. Though I bought PS+ anyway... haven't registered it yet due to the store being down but ya. Reports are pouring in and the consensus of opinion so far is that it's very good. It's not just PS+ users though as some thought (if anyone here has been reading around the web. Particularly Neogaf) one comment from N4G: Nitro, it's great Lol Sorry I couldn't get you in, I myself was lucky. Note that this is for Plus members selectively being chosen. You're not all going to get in, though you could still do the Hong Kong beta if u are that desperate. Ive been playing the last two days and it's real fun, the online is amazingly smooth (feels like local, minus a few glitches). The netcoding is really solid. It's hard to track yourself sometimes though, the biggest issue is not any fundamental flaw to the gameplay but a lack of visual indicators that ought to be put in (such as a more noticeable notification for when you level up and a better indicator over your head-- it's easy to look at the HUD and then back at the game and not know where you are for a second) The core gameplay is very fun, and insanely gratifying. It plays nothing like SSB, so get that out of your mentality. It's incredibly intense, very fast, and requires a lot of quick thinking. Simple to pick up, but has some good depth via quick-thinking and combos. Edit: Fat Princess plays well, she isn't UP'd. Some people complain about Sly's Level 1, but there's nothing else I'm really hearing. Some cheap tactics include Radec players staying back and sniping, but people have learned this and keep Radec close, which screws with their strategy. Every character is very unique and plays very differently. #1.1.1 (Edited 1h ago) | Agr | 2012-07-27 05:16:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

So the beta has aparently been mined for data. UPDATE #1: Another rumor. A file was posted on GameFAQs that is said to be extracted from the recent beta. A lot of people downloaded it and it seems to be legit. It contains a lot of new info and (if true) CONFIRMS both the stages and the characters leaked. ORIGINAL: From reddit. Stages seem legit. Characters not that much. But we will see. More to come tomorrow according to the leaker. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comme...haracter_list/ (http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xark6/ps_battle_royale_character_list/) First big image still seems to have a Uncharted 3 (Cargo Plane) stage, a Ape Escape stage, and a Resistance stage (these three didn't have a "proper" leak today). Characters seem to be: Raiden (Metal Gear Solid Revengeance), Dante (the new one - from DmC), Ratchet (Ratchet and Clank), Sackboy (Little Big Planet), Spike (Ape Escape), Sir Daniel (MediEvil), Nariko (Heavenly Sword) and Evil Cole (InFamous 2). The two question marks there are probably for the Random Select slot, but they could be for two secret characters too. There's no way to know though. Early comments (not confirmed) pointed to 14+ stages and 20+ characters. For comparison sake. Also some different takes on this leak: -> Paul Gale (the first one to leak the game) said there would be at least 3 female characters. With the leak we only have two (Fat Princess and Nariko); -> Paul Gale also said there would be a RPG character. With the leak we have none; -> David Hayter (Snake voice actor) said on twitter that he was recording voice for the game. After the leak, no Snake confirmed; -> The next character and stages reveals are planned for GamesCom on the 14th of August. The reveals there should pretty much confirm (or not) this leaks. -> Another reminder. The story in the game will focus on the rivalry between a pair of playable characters. So that's a starting point to guesses. http://i.imgur.com/xdVS0.jpg SLY COOPER ~ PARIS STAGE http://i.imgur.com/jaSQ7.png TWISTED METAL ~ BLACK ROCK STADIUM STAGE http://i.imgur.com/Sru6A.png BIOSHOCK: INFINITE ~ COLUMBIA STAGE http://i.imgur.com/Nq7MU.png KILLZONE ~ INVASION STAGE http://i.imgur.com/x2mf7.png INFAMOUS ~ ALDEN'S TOWER STAGE http://i.imgur.com/CNMqd.png LOCO ROCO STAGE http://i.imgur.com/PdS0W.png http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=40386541&postcount=1 | 2012-07-29 09:08:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

You mean the Dreamscape? OH is there an actual stage based on LBP? Yay I have not been following this game at all.. | 2012-07-30 09:32:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
OH is there an actual stage based on LBP? Yay I have not been following this game at all.. Yeah, there is. It's based off a level shown before LBP was made that didn't make the cut. Very similar to the gardens. There's even a thermometer over on the left. As the match goes on, new things are added into the stage. Only downside is that the stage, like every other stage, is mixed with another game. You can expect the background flip from Dreamscape, to 'Buzz!', back to Dreamscape, blah blah blah. When it's in Buzz mode, it actuallys gives you Playstation trivia which you have to answer by stepping on certain platforms. | 2012-07-30 11:28:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
Also in the beta files were news of some new modes: Arcade Mode, CTF, Challenge Trials, Character Trials, Countdown Attack, Free Roam, General Trials, King of the Hill, LAN Game, and Solo Play. The Trials seem to basically be the Events from Super Smash Bros, with three separate types: Challenge Trials:This Trials set involves fun trials with unique gameplay Character Trials:This Trials set involves mastering one character at a time General Trials: The Trials set involves finding success with the fundametals of the game A list of trial names follows: assassinate_target atomizer_trial baumusu_axe_trial boots_of_hermes_trial cake_pacman capture_the_flag combo_ap_multiplier dodge_or_die escaped_apes feed_negativatron fly_rocket freeze_missile_trial golf_club_trial gravity_shield_trial hedgehog_grenade_trial hole_in_the_bucket_easy hole_in_the_bucket_hard hole_in_the_bucket_medium horde_trial iron_fist kill_descendents killer_bees_trial kills_with_deaths king_of_hill laser_designator_trial leech_beem_trial low_gravity medusa_gaze_trial mic_grab missing_costs_ap mix_up_attacks multi_kill murder_of_crows_trial must_box_opponent must_have_barrel must_have_zurkon must_sleep must_stun_dart must_switch_stances must_sword_grab must_use_absorb must_use_charge_attack must_use_fan must_use_gravity must_use_plasmid must_use_shield must_use_slide must_use_tesla must_use_wall nanotech_crate_trial only_ape_attacks only_boxyboy_ap only_charge_up only_circle only_multi_hits only_square only_triangle pandemonium protect_little_sister pulsing_invisibility railgun_trial razor_claws_trial reflect_projectile rival_drains_ap rpg_trial sackbot_trial Also, more stuff, which I'll just quote from the gamefaqs topic: as i was looking through the beta files, which included texts from almost about anything (including Menu selections), i came across the word "SHOP" now, we can all make wishlists for upcoming DLCs. oh and in addition to some of the Character Trials (Cake Pacman, Protect Little Sister), i also found Drake's Character Trial, which is called Nepal or Bust. and again, as a little update. the Railgun list on the Items isn't the MGS4 Railgun. instead, it's the LR-3 Railgun from StarHawk. and since we're on the topic, i might as well say that in addition to the modes, there will also be "2 vs 2 Tournament", and "Team King Of The Hill", and "Team Deathmatch"., and "Team Battle"., "Versus Match", i don't know the differences, though. and then there's "Team Collection". i don't even know what that is. for those who don't know, there will be General Trials, Character Trials, Challenge Trials, and Combat Trials. anyways, i'm too lazy to put up the description for each. you can Invite people to your Party. there seems to be a "Ranking" system, governed by Points. I don't know how and where that works, though. probably in the "Elimination" games. there are *1 Player*, *1-2 Players* and *3-4 Players* and of course *1-4 Players* games/modes. i just hope Capture the Flag and King Of The Hill are in the *1-4 Players* category. you can also Record Input. again, I don't know where that applies, but you can Play and Stop whatever it is. you can also Kick a player. hmmm... and, there's a Move demo. and no i don't think it's the PS Move. it might be previews of the moves. that is neat, btw. i don't know why fighters don't do that. there is also a "Collect 3 Stars". whether it's an unlockable, or a mission (like collecting stars in a level), or it's tied in to the "Gold Stars Collected x/y" with each Trial, i'm not sure. you can Customize a profile. so there's an online profile, most likely. there will be Short Cinematics. i think we all know that by now. you can Send Gifts. hmmm... there is also another mode, on top of Easy, Normal, Hard, and Insane, there's Easiest. there are some Customize Match options that i won't list, but there's something interesting called "Ability Settings". not saying it'll be under "customize game". also, what game mode would have a "7th place"? my theory: you can connect up to 7 wireless controllers in a singer PS3. does that mean that there's a mode where you can connect up to 7 wireless controllers, but only control 1 character at a time. OR, maybe a FFA tournament with 7 controllers. elimination-style or tournament-style. that's the other logical game mode. there might be some cameos, since the beta lists some but i'm not gonna spoil them. I listened to Buzz's audio files and i saw some characters that can't possibly be associated with any of the questions, like the MAWLR from Killzone (which we all know is in a mash-up). some might be actually in the mash-up (i think i found one that is a mash-up), and some may just be cameos in the story mode or whatnot. heck, i actually came across a possible Stage name that's not in the leaked stages, and not associated with any of Buzz's questions. but oh well... Again, apparently all of this stuff was hidden in the beta files. | 2012-07-31 04:37:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Hey everyone! Last week, SuperBot Entertainmen (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/superbot-entertainment/)t and PlayStation (http://www.us.playstation.com/) invited a small group of players to get a hands-on preview of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/playstation-all-stars-battle-royale/) as part of our early development beta. We?re beginning to test our servers and connectivity issues and this is just the beginning as we work toward rolling out a public beta to the entire PlayStation nation this Fall. As part of this exclusive access, players were able to take control of characters such as Kratos, Sweet Tooth, PaRappa the Rapper, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, and Fat Princess and battle in environments such as Dreamscape, Metropolis, Sandover Village, and Hades. The feedback we?re receiving from beta testers has been highly encouraging and valuable, helping us craft the best online multiplayer fighting experience possible. In addition, there was an unexpected and unintended leak in our beta that allowed fans to be able to see some additional content. We?ve enjoyed reading all of the fan reaction and are thrilled that so many of you are excited to learn more our character roster and level mash-ups, however we are still in development and the leaked content does not fully represent the final product nor the incredible efforts that were made to make these elements truly spectacular. This will be evident in the coming weeks as this content is officially revealed, beginning with our next character announcement at Gamescom (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/gamescom12/) in a couple of weeks. While just a small group now, in the coming weeks we will continue to send out batches of codes as we gradually expand the beta; so keep your eyes open. You just might receive an invitation to join! Keep checking back with the blog for more information around the public beta, starting with early access to PlayStation Plus (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/playstation-plus/) members. If you?re having this much fun with the game now, we think you?re going to be thrilled with all the great stuff coming in the final product! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/08/02/playstation-all-stars-battle-royale-public-beta-this-fall/ | 2012-08-02 17:57:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Hopefully early access starts soon... Am actually kinda surprised they responded to the leaks, haha. Nice to know it isn't final, not that I was expecting it to. Maybe Evil Cole isn't in the game? | 2012-08-02 18:17:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Maybe Evil Cole isn't in the game? Maybe in the final game good and evil Cole will occupy one slot on the select screen and you'll chose the one you want from that. | 2012-08-02 18:57:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Maybe in the final game good and evil Cole will occupy one slot on the select screen and you'll chose the one you want from that. Well they already hacked them so that they have different movesets... But maybe. Well, we'll see I guess. So, each character has a rival. So far, we know Toro and the Tekken guy are rivals. I'm guessing they're going for more weird rivals than stuff that makes sense, i.e. no Good Cole vs. Bad Cold, as thematically accurate that may be. So any ideas on cool rivalries? I think Kratos vs some "joke" character like Fat Princess would be funny... or maybe Kratos' rival would be the entire roster? Huh. | 2012-08-02 19:02:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
So any ideas on cool rivalries? I think Kratos vs some "joke" character like Fat Princess would be funny... or maybe Kratos' rival would be the entire roster? Huh. Kratos vs Sackboy seems to be the most "odd" matchup I can think of. I like it. That's what I see them doing, unless they decide to kinda pair people up who have similar moves or something. (Maybe Nathan Drake vs Sly Cooper for example?) I'm kinda hoping the beta isn't restricted to PS+ members, but I guess I don't really care too much about it. I'd rather wait and play the game when it comes out. | 2012-08-02 20:22:00 Author: KlawwTheClown Posts: 1106 |
How about Spiritual successors vs. Spiritual predecessors? Or to be more general, characters from modern titles against the same company's last IP? Like Cole Mcgrath versus Sly Cooper, or Nathan Drake versus Jak & Daxter. It could be pretty weird yet interesting. | 2012-08-02 22:59:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’s website was briefly updated today showing imagery of both LittleBigPlanet’s Sackboy and Metal Gear Solid’s Raiden, all but confirming some details of last week’s major leak. Both NeoGAF and the Official PlayStation Forums caught the leaked images on the website before it seemed to have been taken down. NeoGAF user Coolbgdog12 captured the two images of the website below, one showing a rather awesome character select portrait of an angry-looking Sackboy along with his character model, as well as a picture of Raiden from Metal Gear Solid Rising in a tussle with the already-confirmed hero (or villain) of Infamous, Cole. http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2012/08/allstars-610x437.jpg Im not sure were to post this..So if i posted it in the wrong place im really really sorry i thought it was news cause it has sack boy in it. I mean, Sackby and Ratchet are shoo ins, but I just can't see three reps from Tekken. Crash Bandicoot would be cool if in. anyway, from what I understand it was leaked on the website quickly, but I'm still not entirely believing it. Oh well, we'll see soon enough XD I just hope Sackboy is done right. I hope his moveset emphasizes his creative capabilities more than his actual platforming items (Like he could generate materials which do stuff... Does the 2nd person who says "I will burn Shamylan if he makes a live-action movie for TLOK" get a code? Unfortunately, no. But you're fighting a worthy cause nonetheless. Anyway though, congrats RAWK, I'll pm you that code right nao. :kz: | 2012-08-10 00:19:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

Ok, so, thanks to dragonvarsity I have played 6 matches, 1 featuring each character. 2 on Hades, 2 on Dreamscape, 2 on Sandover (stages were randomly selected so I didn't play on Metropolis). So far, Kratos is my favorite which is no surprise. He's a well rounded and easy to usecharacter, whereas Radec will be for the hardcore players who want a challenge. But if you master him, he's apparently great. Supers are fun so far. Level 1 is easy to get but is hard to use. In the limited time frame of the beta matches (two minutes), it is hard to get enough for a level 3 or even a 2 super, seeing as how everyone else is trying to stop that from happening. It gets very tricky to know if you should use your supers now or save them up. Using them as soon as you get them is an instant failure. So far, I haven't used any level 2s aside from Fat Princesses where she rode a chicken for some reason. I killed the other 3 guys and won the match. It was the only one I won. So, after playing some more... My favorite character, by far, is Far Princess. ... huh. Anyway, the Super system is fun, and just like I suspected, being able to fill it up and unleash it at the right time requires a lot of skill. | 2012-08-10 17:34:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

First my brother gets an LBPK Beta code, now he got a PASBR Beta code. My brother's account is a gold mine! :3 So that means you'll be playing it, eh? Too bad the beta is only random matches so we can't play together (makes sense, since it's testing server code). Still, be sure to let us know what you think. But yeah, my favorite character is Fat Princess. And her chicken. Yay chicken! | 2012-08-10 17:50:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Where do I sign up for the beta? Is it just in the US? I didn't sign up for anything I think, yet Sony still sent me a code. o_O | 2012-08-10 20:47:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
Getting beta codes seems to be random, and last night was only the second batch of emails. However, Superbot keeps sending out mini contests on twitter and facebook. https://www.facebook.com/SuperBotEntertainment https://twitter.com/superbotent At the moment on facebook, there's a contest for everyone who likes the post and sends them a message. I did it again, and if by some chance I win I'll give my code out to a lucky person on here. There's a new contest every day nowadays, though it's only about 5 or so people at a time. But still, if you want in it may be your best bet unless you're willing to wait. | 2012-08-10 20:57:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

They tweeted that there is going to be an open beta in the fall. | 2012-08-11 18:16:00 Author: Halfire Posts: 132 |
So to those who got into the BETA, how is it? feeling like a smash bros clone or is it true that it doesn't? worth looking into purchasing? Doesn't really feel like a Smash clone. I mean, same genre, but the Super system makes it totally different, but still fun. Though I can't seem to play as anyone but Fat Princess... She was an unexpected main. | 2012-08-11 19:10:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
What about the menus? I've only seen like one video of the beta, and just a snip-pit of the menus themselves, but of what I saw, it looked pretty bland, trying to match up with the PS3's XMB theme (Not that I don't like the XMB theme, I'm actually quite fond of it. I just hope, based off what I saw, it isn't the final version) | 2012-08-11 19:30:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

But it seems functional enough. | 2012-08-11 19:40:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Possibly delayed. Sometimes people slip up. It seems as though someone at the US PlayStation Blog may have pushed a button just a little too early and allowed a little leak of information to slip out when it shouldn?t have. Spotted by Ben (https://twitter.com/V_Ben/status/235013051705851904), one of our friends from PSNStores (http://www.psnstores.com/), this captured image shows that there was a blog post supposed to go live today which cites the date of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale as the 20th November. That?s almost a full month after its previously expected arrival. It's described as a ?new release date? rather than a delay but given the perceived balancing work that Blair spotted in his preview of the beta earlier today, it's not necessarily a bad thing to take a little more time with it and release it just as everyone?s mum is filling up their Christmas stocking, is it? http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/08/13/looks-like-playstation-all-stars-is-being-delayed/ | 2012-08-13 17:27:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
As an ex-competitive Smash Bros. player. Would you guys say this game will be worth picking up? Or should I just stick to Smash. | 2012-08-14 00:53:00 Author: bigMoose_ Posts: 183 |
As a casual player, I can't say how competitive it is. However, it is a good game by itself, and the Super system is unique and fun. I'd say you should try for yourself once public beta gets out | 2012-08-14 00:56:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
I suppose I don't mind if it's competitive or casual. But the game itself does look pretty good and the super system is a brilliant idea. | 2012-08-14 00:58:00 Author: bigMoose_ Posts: 183 |

Gamescom confirmed Ratchet, Sackboy, Dante and Spike, as well as the Uncharted stage. Also, you can now "Cross Buy" PS3 and Vita titles like this, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Ratchet and Clank Q-Force for no extra cost. So if you have a PS3 and a Vita, if you buy the PS3 version you can get the Vita version for free. | 2012-08-14 18:15:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

I remember people saying good things after Sanzaru talked about Sly 4 starting Sony's cross play feature with their games. The only complaint of course was having to pay double for both versions, but I see that that's no longer a problem. | 2012-08-14 18:35:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

With Sackboy and Ratchet confirmed, my first-party wishlist is complete. Yellowhead would be the perfect DLC costume for Sackboy Edit: I think Ratchet's first 2 supers are OP compared to the rest. | 2012-08-16 03:31:00 Author: TheUltraDeino Posts: 1274 |
With Sackboy and Ratchet confirmed, my first-party wishlist is complete. Yellowhead would be the perfect DLC costume for Sackboy Edit: I think Ratchet's first 2 supers are OP compared to the rest. Well, there's a chance that Ratchet has a hard time leveling up his super meter, thus balancing it out. I know for a fact that it is hard to get enough for a super meter in order to win, every second counting in order to have enough AP to pull off as many successful supers as possible. So if his moves are hard to build up AP with, than better supers could be a balancing act. Course, not sure what his supers are, so just guessing. Anyway, level 3 supers are nigh impossible to use. I can't see them being used more than in some nonserious matches. Building up enough AP to use them, as well as their chance of failure, when coinciding with the need to not waste a single drop of AP, means that levels 1 and 2 will probably be the go-to supers for almost all of the time. Though Kratos's level 3 is WAY overpowered. They need to nerf that, you can get, like, 6 kills at the moment O-o | 2012-08-16 03:50:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Though Kratos's level 3 is WAY overpowered. They need to nerf that, you can get, like, 6 kills at the moment I get what you're saying, maybe they made it so Ratchet gets AP slower, but if that's the case, why do they give him a powerful Lv. 1 and 2 super, but a mediocre Lv. 3? And level 3s usually go 3 ways, one that has 1 little cutscene and kills 3 people instantly no matter what (Parappa, Toro, Heihachi, and Spike), they insure you 3 kills, but that's it, nothing else. Some are transformations (Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Jak, Dante), which can give the person 1-hit kill moves, allowing up to 6 kills, but at the same time, the opponents can dodge the moves long enough for the transformation to be over, thus not having that many kills. Then there are the ones where the character goes in the foreground and controls something in the arena (Sly, Ratchet, Cole, Radec), again, it can score up to 6 kills, but there is that risk where you might not get many kills (even though I doubt people will avoid Cole's lv. 3 without being killed atleast once). So far, Nathan Drake, Big Daddy, Sackboy, and Fat Princess are the only ones who don't have Lv. 3 supers like that. ...Anyways, here's a gif http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8rk45yLNH1qjdbzao1_500.gif (ImNeverGonnaGetUsedToThatModel @_@) | 2012-08-16 05:06:00 Author: TheUltraDeino Posts: 1274 |
Well, again, Level 3's seem to just be for fun, and I can't see them being used competitively or to win at all, so it doesn't really matter about how useful his level 3 is. | 2012-08-16 05:30:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

they need to put ryu from the breath of fire franchise into the game, being able to transform into or summon dragons would be beyond fun! otherwise it's looking great but I'm seeing the problem that with a t.v. screen as small and as far away as mine distinguishing between the characters will get very hard, I can hardly tell whats going on in the trailers and they're playing full screen only abouyt half a meter away from me. they need a more obvious indicator of who is who. | 2012-08-16 13:24:00 Author: Smudge228 Posts: 533 |
I like how they put in the bouncepads into his character and all players can use them. It's like adding the LBP flavor to the entire game. I don't like sackboys animations though. He seems more of a prankster than an adorable sackperson with cute smiles. In Allstars he's more like the green ghost from Ghost Busters -_- | 2012-08-16 23:01:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzFCSgCLFxw&feature=player_embedded Evil Cole revealed. This just proves how desperate Sony is. You'd never see Nintendo adding multiple versions of the same character. Also, I doubt the Crash things means anything one way or the other. It was probably just the twitter person (who wouldn't know such things) telling the person to ask Superbot. Anyway, so far I believe the only leaked character not revealed yet is Raiden. Well, Pax is coming soon. And hopefully they'd announce more people there too. And hopefully some noncharacter stuff like extra modes and stuff. | 2012-08-28 23:10:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

I don't see what justifies Evil Cole's existence in this game. Throughout history, we've had Evil Ryu, Orochi Iori, Claw Iori and regular Iori on KoF 13, shotoclones in general, as well as others. This really doesn't come as a big surprise. :B | 2012-08-29 15:59:00 Author: CirkuzFr3ek Posts: 194 |

They may not be the SAME character (apart from the 1st and 3rd one), but they have nearly identical moves. Mario, Dr. Mario, Pichu, and Pikachu are the only justifiable ones, since they're actually just the same characters re-skinned. Late response. Rock said it was a joke. movingon.jpg While Nintendo is in fact guilty of doing this. I don't see what justifies Evil Cole's existence in this game. Evil Cole has a different moveset. If you've played inFAMOUS 2, you were allowed to change moves and abilities based on Karma. In this case, just having Evil Cole as a skin would not be possible due to his different abilities. So yes, it looks lazy by I do support it because it offers players another way to play Cole. I would definitely want to have a Good vs. Bad match. | 2012-08-30 02:21:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
I think the argument would be justified if Cole turned evil in the game at certain points, rather like Banner turns into the Hulk, but he does not. It's a completely different development tree. You can play through the game as Evil Cole or Good Cole but the two ARE mutually excluded. They are two different characters that share a common story. You decide which you want to play through your actions. Think about it. When you consider the HUlK you are also considering Banner; when you consider Superman, you are also considering Clark Kent; when you consider Jekyll you also consider Hyde; but when you consider Bad Cole and Good Cole, you are considering two different characters because one isn't inside the other waiting to emerge at any moment. | 2012-08-30 04:08:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
I view characters like Evil Cole as nothing more than a place filler. Also, Snake > Raiden. | 2012-08-30 04:11:00 Author: bigMoose_ Posts: 183 |
This is a new IP from Sony. They have literally hundreds of characters they could put into the game. Clearly they chose Bad Cole. To say filler is to suggest they're struggling to find characters to put in the game. And if people think that the release line up will be the only characters to appear in the game, then you're not following Sony very well. There will be DLC for this game without a doubt And isn't the point of having such a diverse selection of characters in this game because you're supposed to pick characters that you personally liked? Would you expect every person who buys this game to have played every character in it? Or even like every character in it? By the very definition of 'favourite' you acknowledge that there will be characters you don't like. It's the nature of the game. In fact it's the point of the the game. | 2012-08-30 04:29:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
While this is true, Evil Cole is redundant with Cole already in the game. | 2012-08-30 04:37:00 Author: bigMoose_ Posts: 183 |
