ON and OFF from different sources

this is really just a question rather than a problem. i have it working fine but i wondered if there was another way. how i do it: i have two counters set to 1 which reset themselves. these are hooked into an OR gage with two imputs. the OR gate is hooked into a TOGGLE stitch to switch what i want between two states. i found that the TOGGLE switch wouldn't activate if one of the OR gate switches was still active, hence the counters providing a pulse signal. is there a better way... or simpler way? i can't remember why i didn't use a selector for this but i do recall trying them and for some reason ditched the idea. i'll try to remember the reason lol edit: because the selector by default always has one output active and adding a dead output makes it miss once. remember both the states have to be off until i activate them oh yeah, on a side note and related (a bit) is there a way of resetting a switch back to it's starting position (if it's on a wall for instance)... if not then it gets added to my realistic suggestions thread | 2011-11-02 19:23:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
XOR gate in place of your OR and toggle. Then replace your counters with toggles. It will work the same way as a hallway light switch. Just hook both into it, and the output will always change state whenever one of the toggles is activated or deactivated. You don't need the pulse reset with it. EDIT-If you are using a two-way switch, then you don't need the toggles, but if you are using a button or other "one shot" style switch, then you will. | 2011-11-02 19:39:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |

For the switch, you can attach pistons/rods/etc to the handle, and have something that physically moves the switch. Elastic allows you to pull the switch, then by moving what the other end of the elastic is attached to, it can pull the switch back. | 2011-11-02 20:06:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |

For the On/Off: Have a selector with 3 inputs/outputs. Outputs 1 and 2 go into an OR gate which goes into input 3. Then your 2 switches go into inputs 1 and 2. Output 3 is your On/Off, hook it up as you wish. For the switch reseting: Have a winch hook up to the switch and the wall/floor the switch is on. Tweak the winch to maximum length: 20, Minimum length: 8, Time: 1 Second, Strength: 50%, and tweak it to Forward/Backwards. This way you can command when you want the switch to reset by hooking the input for the reset to the winch which will reset the switch. All you need to make sure is that the input for the reset does not stay on for more than 2 seconds, so the player can pull the switch again. (You may have to adjust the maximum and minimum length depending on the size of the switch, and my memory . | 2011-11-03 02:41:00 Author: Wolffy123 Posts: 406 |
