I just updated the level with a race mode that adds a ton of spikes but also provides you with a nice race mode that will surely result in extra points Good luck!2011-11-02 13:42:00

This level is a very, very fine tuned instrument of torture for those who are not precise and patient. Having said that it is also something that a little patience and in about two spots a little luck and you can get through fairly cleanly. I was blown away by the set design and creative variations of challenges presented in this level.

I am very impressed with the precision in the placement of the score bubbles. Not only do they keep you going in the right location but even with the absurd array of spikes laid out and you can still rack up high combos as you move through each section.

The double-jump mechanic seemed to be unbreakable in my plays which is critical and the whole level is contingent on. The thing with sackbot gimmick levels is that the gimmick must work 100% of the time or it isn't good enough for the mass market. I killed off a primary sackbot gimmick in my Darkhallow level because about 5% of the it didn't work as advertised even as I tried for hours and hours to clean it up so I appreciate the clean double-jump implementation done here.

This level is similar in ethic to NinjaMicWZ's excellent 'Enter the 36 Chambers' in that it isn't trying to be an easy or moderately challenging level but is honestly completable if you just run/jump at the correct times. Actually it is like Enter the 36 Chambers and the Most Impossible Mario Mod had a weekend getaway and the result was Mission imPAWssible.

My biggest complaint is a part of wall that has two bounce pads, a horizontal spike followed by another bounce pad. The goal is to bounce up this wall, over the spike and then up to the top. The placement of the spike is just at the point where as much as I practice and refine my technique it can still be a problem without a perfect set of jumps.

Otherwise the other trouble spot is a pinball-esque section that due to the speed and variability that it seems 50% skill and 50% luck as to whether I get through here in one life or five.

The boss fight is a bit easy compared to the platforming that precedes it but it lasts a good bit and there are still plenty of chances to die. The different stages of the boss battle are all very nicely choreographed and executed. The logistical and logical wizardry behind the sequence is very impressive.

If you die less than 10 times by the end you can get a sticker which I believe unlocks the race part, or at least an alternate path I have seen a few times as I fell to my death in certain areas of the level. Unfortunately I think that the sackbot cannot pick up prize bubbles or there was a bug as I played as I was not able to pick it up.

I'll have to play it through a few more times to test my sackbot versus non-sackbot theory however.

A very impressive level with good set design and excellent implementation. A challenge for those who are looking for one.

Definitely a must play for those looking for a challenging platformer. Come prepared with finger callouses and a lot of free time or you may end up in pain.

Cheers

I finished your level! (And I must say that I'm very proud of it even though I just got *cough* poo in the end!)

Well, it's very VERY difficult and you need lots of patience. But still the gameplay is genious! Especially how you used your double-jump feature! Very commendable!
Also the boss fight was very original (especially the design) and very challenging as well!

There's only one thing I didn't really like:
The scenery of the level. Yes, it's quite original but also a bit plain in my opinion.

Nevertheless a very awesome and challenging level! Thank you for challenging me!

Thanks for the feedback!

@Trindall I know the boss is a bit bland compared to the rest of the level and I was very close taking it out completely due to thermo issues but decided to keep it in because honestly a boss is often the best ending to anything paha. For now all it does is to give the player some kind of reward after fighting through the previous part of the level. Thanks for that huge chunk of feedback anyways. Seems like I managed to pull of exactly what I wanted judging from your awesome analysis of the level. Thanks for playing!

@StarrKable0150 I am not a huge fan of the scenery itself, after about ten hours with it I also though it indeed looked pretty plain and bland, but it's a certain style and I guess it differs from person to person. Next time I will definitely do something different scenery-wise though :B

I updated the level! There is now a race mode you can activate at the start that gives you a race and also ALOT more spikes to avoid! Very good for you scorehunters out there, very good indeed.
I will probably update the level today to give death a bit more punishing results. From sometime today and onwardsyou will loose 10-50 points everytime you die, just so that only the pros can get the gooood scores.

Anyways, glad you guys liked it!

LOL I don't have the patience, tolerance or time for levels like these. BUT I still played it and yayed it since it's still a good level. It's just me that's the problem. Your style is quite distinct and characters too. A definite must play for the more pro or hard core player wanting a challenge or a change.

The boss is a bit bland in the sense that up until that point there are some tense, difficult sections that early players may die on 20 - 30 times to pass. The boss fight is a great end-cap to the level and even though it is easier than the run/jump/double-jump part of the level it is still leagues above many other boss battles I've seen. You should definitely have kept the boss fight.

I've played the level a few more times primarily the race section and while it is harder and has a higher payoff I think there are still only three areas in the level that seem excessive when compared to the challenge of the surrounding areas. The first part is non related to the race but is the spike on the left wall that is above two bounce pads and underneath the third. You have to bounce up the wall and over this spike to the top where the next checkpoint is. The spike is in just an exact height relative to the platform you jump off of that even after practicing the wall climb sixty times or so I can still not reliably reproduce a clean ascent.

The second spot is the race spike added, or maybe not added because of the race, at the stickering "Problems?" The top spike is very difficult to get over and more often than not the only way is to land on the top and then jump to the platform. When looking at the amount of deaths in the level running through the different sections they are always largely from one of these three sections.

The last is the pinball chute where you bounce up and then over to the right where you have to wall climb again. You put a spike right in the optimum path to make it over to the right wall and made an already hard spot even harder. I'd really like to watch the technique of people who can repeatedly clear these sections because for my play-style they are a bit hard.

Either way, I've enjoyed the hours I've spent playing your level and that is what counts. Cheers.

Thanks for the further feedback!

* The first bit with the 3 bouncepads and the spike can indeed be cleared without many problems if you have the right tactic. It IS possible doing it your way but you can also clear it in a much safer way by waiting slightly before using your doublejump to gain some momentum when slamming into the next bouncepad. That way this area is actually one of the easier ones

* The PROBLEM area is indeed totally unfair and I am considering making it easier. It is possible clearing it with the right timing but it is more a matter of knowing it rather then..being awesome. On the other hand the race mode's purpose is to make you rage with unfair tactics so I'm not sure how to go about it...

* The last area is entirely possible to survive even with the race mode spike You just need the right timing with the jump, you can even come up the ledge entirely with the right timing!

Thank you once again for the feedback!

Level update!

You can now finish the level with a flawless multiplier..in theory. I have added quite alot of bubbles to fill out the gaps and where alot of bubbles wasn't enough I put in some extra long score combo timers to keep you going. I have played it through and even if I haven't managed to finish the whole level in a combo I have still finished each part in one, so in theory it is indeed possible

So yeah! Feel free to run through and see the highest multiplier you can rank up. Mine is on about 16!

I wanna start by saying that Mnniska is a good friend and I owe a lot of credit to him for helping me get my Bug Blaster way back in the Multi-player Create beta... but with that said Mnnska, I'm not sure we can be friends anymore after you put me through the Mission ImPAWssible! LOL!

VISUALS:
The visuals on this level are like the visuals in all of Mnniska's levels in that they are pretty good, but are definitely not the draw or main attraction of his levels. This particular level has a dingy almost hellish holding cell feel to it and I love it. This kind of art style is right up my ally so I think I prefer the looks of this one over some of his other levels. I also think that the Sackbot fits the level perfectly. He looks like a little ninja in training ready to rip out some precious Kitty Cat's fur. Speaking of Kitty Cat's, I did feel that the Boss fight looked and played like a completely different level, but It was refreshing to have something a little easier after the grueling lead up to the boss battle so I didn't mind that difference too much.

GAMEPLAY:
This is the part where Mnniska is a master! His level designs blew me away when I first met him and they continue to push the envelope with each and every level he makes. The level design in this one is no exception. The things he did in this level with a simple double jump astounds me. If any one was gonna reinvent the double jump, then it had to be Mnniska. The crazy techniques like grabbing material or using a jump pad so your double jump resets is just brilliant. I also like how each section introduced the player to a new double jump problem and then that problem would be more present as you progress through the level. This keeps it fresh and familiar at the same time. I did think that the Boss Battle was a little easy compared to the rest of the level, but like I said before, it was refreshing and felt like a much needed break from the extremely hardcore gameplay of the level so it didn't bother as much as it normally might have.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I first played this level a week or so ago and barely made it in and said " heck no, this is too hard! Isn't for me!" But then as days passed it started to eat at me because I know Mnniska doesn't make levels you can't complete so I decided that I have to finish this or it will haunt me forever... So I rolled up my sleeves gave it my very best and after about an hour and 98 deaths I was able to say that I completed it... And I hope to never play this torturous level again! LOL!

RATING:
Visuals: 3.5 Stars
Gameplay: 5 Stars
Overall: 4.5 Stars

VERDICT: Fantastic Job! (as always!)

is this hard? Are you kiddin' me! I invented new curse words because of this level. I had put it behind and the night terrors and chills had just about gone away, but then you had to go ahead and bump this thread. Thanks a lot xiSicx.2012-01-31 18:22:00

Just got to playong this after I referred it to a friend without playing it yet and he sent me a message stating "I have a few choice words for ya" (he loves sadistically difficult levels) and then we played it. Awesome the sackbot allowed us to take turns while playing and after 99+ deaths while playing with someone whoalready beat it I would have to say congrats on killing me, alot. Awesome work as usual MNN2012-01-31 19:26:00

LOVE LOVE LOVE this level Mnniska! Nothing like a hard level to get your blood flowing and your brain thinking! The death counter and Player swap mechanics were incredible, and the visuals and gameplay were top notch as always. I would ask for a look at how you create your levels, but your already generous enough to have given us speed create! Hearted and given a massive yay. I wish I could give more than that!2012-02-01 04:02:00

@Isic. Thank you so much for that huge heap of feedback-related awesomeness! It's great to get some suggestions on how to improve, too I completely agree about the scenery and the boss is indeed a different experience compared to the rest of the level. I had quite alot of trouble designing this boss (my very first one in LBP2!) and it didn't turn out as good as I wanted it to be, however I gave it my best shot and it turned out an alright boss. Not mindblowing, but alright! I will be sure to consider your feedback next time I'm crazy enough to try something so hell-like to create like a boss It's really hard to relate it to the level, keeping it epic and at the same time try to not make it too repetive.

I'm blabbering, sorry. xD

Thank you all so much for playing it! Great to see some people enjoying the multiplayer part too, as I had to sacrifice the three number counter for that one! I can imagine the fun in being four noobs and taking turns trolol.
