False. You just need imagination ! I've played a duck hunt game in LBP one!
But again, buying LBP2 makes it 100 times easier.

There's no DLC that will help you do this in LBP1 apart from MGS pack, because there are plasma balls and pain guns.
Now you could build a simple ship hooked up to pistons, and... wait...I'm in a drawing mood.

The left picture is the spaceship, the right picture is the driving logic. When the player walks left, he activates a sensor which triggers a winch which triggers a 3-way switch which makes the piston holding the ship move the ship. Same thing applies for movement to the right. When the player doesn't move, he is pushed in the center by the springs. By the way, it might be hard to move left while the ship is moving left, so you might want the player to be in a room outside the ship, hidden, controlling it from the outside (which allows to build smaller ships). With this setting the ship can't move up and down though.

Then you must find 3D camera tools (glitches) if you want it 3D cause I don't understand them too well, and then you can hook the grab switch to an emitter to shoot.
you can emit plasma balls or floaty material, and make the ennemy detect the ball when it is super-close using tag and tag sensor (called magnetic keys in LBP1).

But again, it's not too great, and it would be 100 times easier and better in lbp2.
