Escape from the Moon (Spotlighted in ep. 72!)

Finally, the long wait is over! Behold, the sequel to the critically acclaimed (on LBPC, at least) "Journey to the Moon."

This level may be a little short for some. I think that the sequencer that governs the cinematic opener is sucking all of the thermo. I wanted to get back into the Death Ray shooting stuff that I had going on in the latter part of "Journey," but that'll have to wait until "Escape 2." Instead, I focused on giving a classic platforming experience, with a couple of retro twists. The hacking sequences seemed like the perfect reason to use the Pixelate glass material, which I've been eyeing for some time.

Hope you like!

A cool level with nice ideas with some really tricky passages. Actually i was not able to finish it yet. But i will try it again. This level is worth the try. Good work :-)2011-11-01 20:44:00

Another brilliant level in this series. The cinematic intro is really gripping and dramatic - a great way to get the player on the edge of their seat right from the start. The gameplay seems less integrated with the story this time (which is not a bad thing btw!). You use the idea of hacking your way out of prison to create some cool retro style gameplay, minigames almost, and they're fun and inventive to boot. The final ride around the circuit board was a little tricky. Those electrified obstacles are somewhat unforgiving. Time and again I would jump a fraction too low and get caught. I was taken by surprise at the number of attempts it took me to get through that long section. It doesn't look that difficult at first glance but experience proved otherwise, lol! Maybe an extra checkpoint halfway through would help?

Anyway, a very cool chapter in your story - full of your usual creativity and style. I look forward to the next one!

My thanks, as always, for your encouraging words, Lass. The next installment is well underway, and I hope it will not disappoint. I'm not sure if I can top the opening cinematic from this one--that was a flash of wacky inspiration that only strikes once in a while

I was trying to channel an old-skool sensibility with the moving platform section, reminiscent of Mario and Megaman. It is deliberately difficult, but I hope it's not cheap. I hope somebody will leave me some feedback If it comes across that way, so I can tweak it. I suppose it might be a simple matter of making the electrified obstacles a hair smaller. I'm not sure where I would put another checkpoint without having to pull it all apart...If I have the wherewithal, maybe I'll try to eke out some more thermo and make the section longer, as I had originally planned.

Another amazing job on the moon series! Much better than the previous installment.

VISUALS:
The opening scene has a very intriguing surgery scene. The pixel material gives the hacking part of this level a retro feeling, too.

SOUND:
Great music choices.

GAMEPLAY:
The platforming of this level is a blast, and it is quite challenging. It also has very good use of bounce pads.

OVERALL:
It's a very fun level. A yay and heart.
