Online "Co-Op" Creation

Is this ever coming? Or should I just try to find a way to do my projects without them? If so, I'll need to scrap the Zones. :/ | 2008-12-25 16:34:00 Author: Unknown User |
It'll come. They said it would. There's text chat in create mode which would be pointless if they didn't plan on putting it in. | 2008-12-25 16:37:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
Yeah, I'm trying to be patient but it is keeping me from creating anything. I have tons of ideas, but they all involve more than one person. xD | 2008-12-25 16:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
Has anyone tried creating with 2 or more players? (I mean offline, so on one playstation) It's so annoying The camera is terrible. When creating you should have your own camera view, so you don't have to "share the same camera". Does anyone even understand whut i'm trying to say? >_> | 2008-12-25 16:43:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
That doesn't mean they can't improve the camera when they launch Co-Op Creation, right? | 2008-12-25 16:58:00 Author: Unknown User |
Good job I found this thread, I might've ended up posting a double-up thread if I hadn't. ^^; But I look forward to seeing online co-op creation when it comes (I'm pretty certain it'll arrive). One idea that we could end up using is if more experienced builders were to use online co-op creation to give hands-on tutorials to a small "classroom" of not-so-skilled builders (myself included there XD) | 2008-12-25 17:06:00 Author: ChazFox Posts: 132 |
Wow. That is an amazing idea! I can totally see that happening too. Credit to you, Chaz, if we ever end up doing that. | 2008-12-25 17:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
*taps on desk* Attention here class, today we will be learning about AND switches. Does anyone have any questions? Yes... Yes you there with the silly top hat, what do you want? Silly top hat boy : Can I go to the bathroom. Teacher : NO!!!!!! Your sitting down and listening to my teachings, do you understand me kid? ...Man I'm bored... Anyways, back on topic. This definately needs to be implemented soon, I know it will because it really was the whole point LBP stands out from other games. | 2008-12-25 20:10:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
I already do "classroom" style levels where I try and teach the reasons behind some of the more advanced tricks you can do in create mode. If anything, online teaching one on one might be even worse as you need to try and explain things not at the pace you teach, but rather the pace they are taking in information. A non-co-op classroom allows them to read and ponder things as much as they want. If they want to spend five minutes thinking about one speech bubble, that's great. If they want to replay the same lesson 5 times before they understand, that's great too. Sure, it takes me maybe 10 hours to fully create a lesson, from conception to publish, but then an infinite number can go through the detailed reasoning at the pace that they want, rather than me spending an hour per person and only teach 10 people in the same time. But... back to the original topic... online co-op sure would be interesting from a bug hunting point of view. Not only can you suggest things, you can go to their moon and build a prototype work around together. | 2008-12-26 07:17:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |

Speaking of AND switches, does anyone else know how the NOT switch will work for 2. I do. Actually, I have a simple way of remembering Gates. This AND that. This OR that. This NOT that. | 2008-12-26 09:36:00 Author: neonrage0 Posts: 284 |
I thought this would be primary in the game when it was released.. actually me and a friend were really looking forward to it. I really hope it comes along later | 2008-12-27 01:55:00 Author: Pinchanzee Posts: 805 |

One idea that we could end up using is if more experienced builders were to use online co-op creation to give hands-on tutorials to a small "classroom" of not-so-skilled builders (myself included there XD) ya the camera view is annoying, and i made the mistake of doing this w/ some friends that hadnt played LBP before and were just messing around when i was trying to build us a crazy rocket cube to fly in and BAM! a giant somberro falls on us...one of my friends figured out how to make objects and thought it was funny to just keep making huge somberros | 2008-12-27 02:00:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |

I'm pretty sure that when and if co-op create is implemented though, there would be no compulsion at all to have complete strangers come in and destroy something, especially a beta level that is nearly done with no back ups on which they then save over or publish without your permission. | 2008-12-27 03:12:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |

Yeah. I wouldn't create with strangers, I would create with people I know. | 2008-12-27 03:18:00 Author: Unknown User |
Between you and me. It'd be nice to work on something with Tyler. That'd make my frickin' day. | 2008-12-27 11:25:00 Author: neonrage0 Posts: 284 |
1 word: split screen! that would be usefull in 2p editing.. Yes that camera is horrible! | 2008-12-28 01:43:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
I remember that when I first bought LBP, I thought this was possible only to be very disappointed when my buddy and I were unable to play around and create. I do hope it's a feature they add in the future as I'd like to collaborate with other creators within the community. | 2008-12-28 15:03:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
I know you can't have online at the same time co-op create at the moment, but what you can do is make (part of) a level, lock it, set it to copyable, and then publish it. Then send your friend a level key, and they can get to the level and copy it to their own moon and then modify it. By that I mean go to the tools section, and then go to "send object to friend" in the more (square button) settings. Then they can take their changes, lock it, make it copyable, publish it, send the new key to the first person or the next one... It's not quite the same as working online, but it kind of allows content to be collaberated. All of this is theoretical though. I haven't tried it myself, but it should work. | 2008-12-28 15:40:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
That does actually sound like it'd work. ^^ Like you say it wouldn't have the same feeling of being there with your friends and working together on a piece, but it'd prove to be a useful workaround in the meantime. Props to Elbee for that idea | 2008-12-28 15:54:00 Author: ChazFox Posts: 132 |
isnt the key only for playing..? but then again, a level isnt selectable on the world map if its locked! should work! | 2008-12-28 21:41:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
As Bassdeluxe pointed out to me, you have to take the key you are given, put it in a random level on your moon, change it to play, and run over it before you can access a locked level. I was not aware of this point before. It seems a bit silly to me, but I guess it's just how the level keys work... | 2008-12-29 06:28:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
I was just on! The part of actually creating wasn't available but I went to my freinds world, and he went to a space on his moon, you could do everything normally, except make stuff lol. | 2008-12-31 06:11:00 Author: MrLinksys Posts: 35 |
It's definitely coming. There's a trophy that you can get for creating a level with another player. | 2009-01-07 00:04:00 Author: Arven7 Posts: 11 |
It's definitely coming. There's a trophy that you can get for creating a level with another player. you can get that if you have another controller on. | 2009-01-07 00:06:00 Author: Trap_T Posts: 431 |
It's definitely coming. There's a trophy that you can get for creating a level with another player. First off, no duh it's coming. Secondly, that trophy you are referring to can be obtained be creating a level with another player offline, on one console. | 2009-01-07 00:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
You would almost need a community moon added to your pod. Here you could invite co-authors and give them privileges to edit the level. Of just add those create features to your moon. When you go to create it could ask you if you want it to be a community create or solo create. If community, you could just pick from your friends list (up to three) co-creators and if you want them to be able to create without you present (what privilege level). I would also suggest in this mode you have 1st person perspective for each persons create screen and not try to make both people be on the same screen together...so it would look like solo create but the other person could be working on a part of the level way far away from you. This would be cool if we could do this. | 2009-01-10 01:34:00 Author: Mattrick Posts: 214 |
On the LittleBigWorkshop forum, a MM member said that they were waiting until the online gets better, because as the online is right now, co-op Creation would suck. | 2009-01-10 04:22:00 Author: Sackdragon Posts: 427 |
