Great little level you made here! Good balance between gameplay and visual interface. Had a nice restrained halloween atmosphere without being oversaturated in imagery, sometimes with halloween themed levels you get everything including the blood splattered kitchen sink thrown in visually! I loved the flow of the gameplay and clever implementation of LP2 gameplay items...bouncepads, grapples. It also had an explorative feel but not so much that it impeded the route through the level. Liked the attention paid to lighting and material choice too. The Giant cookie boss at the end was easy to beat, but once again that's how I like them...can't stand cookies that are too tough or lack chocolate chips! I kicked myself when I killed myself towards the end because this level is ace-able, a great asset for any platformer. Maybe you could make the pumpkins destroyable by being jumped on and splattered for a points bonus to add another element. Good job, hearted. F4F: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=64649-A-christmas-carol Thanks for all the nice comments, I agree with the pumpkins. I think I do need to do something else with them to make the level feel a bit more alive instead of just reducing them to a decorations. Will make a few adjustments as soon as the competition ends. | 2011-11-01 23:55:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Quite nice level, good visual and gameplay, i like that grapples part. Well done | 2011-11-03 21:25:00 Author: Unknown User |
I played through this one yesterday and it felt like a solid platforming level that had a good bit of exploration involved. The use of all the layers in crystalline type shapes and non-flat surfaces really gives the level an interesting look. I like the strong colors you used with the gel type material interspersed through the level. I noticed that there was a visible music box when you drop into the shaft after talking to Eve for the first time just in case you intended it to be set invisible. I think the section I was most impressed with was toward the end there is a long drop down into an area that I thought at first I was just heading down to a new area farther down. On the way down I'm passing spinning wheels an bounce pads and I figured I was missing out on some bonus points or some such. But at the bottom of the fall there is the grappling hook power up. Now the unused objects in the shaft suddenly make sense and I climb back up and out to a higher section of the level to continue playing. Good work. The final boss section was fairly tense just because the cookie just waited, watching me. As I'm running over to do my job I kept expecting some terrible or wacky attack sequence that never came. Up until the end I was thinking something would still happen but not in this level. I'm not sure if the non-boss is actually a satire on the general implementation of bosses in player made levels? Or if it falls under the 'lack of thermo/time' category? Possibly a comedic end to the level? Either way this is a pretty solid level that worked cleanly from start to finish. There are some tricky sections but over all not too hard to get through. Cheers. If you are able I'd appreciate some feedback on my Darkhallow level that is also an entry in the same contest. Link to the level is in my signature. | 2011-11-03 22:21:00 Author: Trindall Posts: 297 |

It annoys me that I missed a little detail like that, so thanks for alerting me. And I knew that I would get some criticism on the boss, the reason it's bland is a combination of time, thermo and me not being that great with logic. But I tried to make sure that area look it's best with all the colors and lighting so even though there's not much to do, at least there's something nice to look at. Uncharted 3 is kinda sucking all my time but I'll be sure to check out both of your guys' levels tonight and have the feedback posted by tomorrow. | 2011-11-04 00:46:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
If you put in front of your image URLs, and at the end of them, they'll display as images Like this: http://ie.lbp.me/img/ft/38e05bf9480ad7f0f6bf45c45e9f6dde1dd6e531.jpg becomes: http://ie.lbp.me/img/ft/38e05bf9480ad7f0f6bf45c45e9f6dde1dd6e531.jpg | 2011-11-04 09:04:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
If you put in front of your image URLs, and at the end of them, they'll display as images Thanks for the tip! Was curious how other people posted the full images but ultimately had to settle for just the links. Now I know for next time. | 2011-11-05 03:55:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
hi ive played your level 1 day ago and i need to say its really cool with some nice visualls and the pmumpkins around the whole world give it a nice halloween touch The lightfacette is really nice and the way how the cmaera switch sometimes between the obstacles give the level a bit more action the gameplay is really easy to easy for my taste but enjoyable all in all a good plattformer for all kinds of ages gj | 2011-11-13 14:27:00 Author: Z1091990 Posts: 84 |
Nice platformer. Very pleasing on the eye. Loved the crazy camera angles, thought they fitted well with the theme. The platforming was simple and fun. The only negative I can give you is that I didn't think there was much of a threat in the level - you know... spikes etc, so it was a little bit easy. If you could play my BattleSnake level, and leave feedback, it would be greatly appreciated. Links in sig. | 2011-11-14 20:03:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |

Creating a platforming level was a bit of a challenge at first but I think I did a decent job for my first attempt. Nice platformer. Very pleasing on the eye. Finding the difficulty for a level has always been tricky as you want everyone to finish and not miss out. And I played your level earlier today, will post feedback momentarily. ----------- Edit: @drei, the Halloween theme isn't too heavy (probably one of the reasons I didn't win the competition ), the pumpkins and orange/purple colors are really the only reference to Halloween. Anyways, I placed your level in my queue, will play tomorrow and post feedback after. Heading off to bed, goodnight. | 2011-11-15 05:06:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Looks like it'd be fun even though halloween has passed haha, i have it queued, in the mean time can you play my level, The Island off Flu Street. Thanks if you do. Edit: I loved this, left a review on your level. By the way, did you make it's music? | 2011-11-15 05:30:00 Author: drei Posts: 158 |

Edit: I loved this, left a review on your level. By the way, did you make it's music? Haha, I wish I was talented enough to make that kinda music. But no, I didn't make it, the first two tracks are from the Move Pack and among my favorites in the game. And I saw the review, thanks so much for the kind words. | 2011-11-16 07:14:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
