WhOOOOOOOO!

OK now that was my reaction when i finally got ahold of this game after looking into it. The fact that i hadn't payed attention to this game is due to the fact that playing rockband and guitar hero makes me want to club baby seals. with kittens.

sooo....what is it, you ask? its Gutiar hero, with real guitars, that TEACHES YOU HOW TO TOASTING PLAY!!!!1!!one!!

not only that, but it adjusts dynamically to your level on the fly during the songs!

here be some videos, yo ho!

been playing for a bit and i have to say it is pure awesome! aside from the fact that its $80 USD and you have to have a guitar.

also, expect the tips of yer fingers to hurt like heck after you play a while if you aren't used to playing.

If you own a guitar or have a sibling that does and you ever wanted to play or just want something that isn't as hokey as rockband/guitar hero, get this game. it is that good.

I've seen a few commercials about this and I'm still not convinced that it helps truly teach you how to play guitar. I'd say it teaches you how to play songs more than teach you how to play guitar. But then again I haven't seen many videos.

I also kind of lol'd that the "Musician" was having trouble playing an open E so he had to use the Riff Repeater to practice it. Anyways this might be a good way for people to practice playing the guitar which in terms, helps you learn the guitar. However I don't see how this will teach you how to create your own solo, the many scales, etc,.

I might get it just to try it out, haven't decided yet.

It does teach techniques as well (bending, palm mutes, drops and pull offs, etc.). the major thing that I'm having issues after playing the last couple days has to be that it doesn't exactly teach you how to hold yer hand on the frets or how to position your fingers to play.

Also, it turns yer tv into an amp with a full cabinet and a ton o pedals and stuff, so that makes it worthwhile too i guess.

but yea. i can see how it might not be the perfect solution for learning, but all and all I'd have to say i'm very pleased with it. I just wish my little bro's guitar didn't suck so bad (It's a first act, and after adjusting it in every way possible i still can't get it to keep from rattling off of the frets sometimes). gonna have to go trolling for one next time i get some money saved up.

You can't keep what from rattling off of the frets?

Also that's pretty bad. First thing any guitarist needs to learn is hand positioning and especially how to hold the guitar, it'll help prevent problems with the hand (especially the wrist) later on.

Oh, man! If only this was around when I was 12 or so!

I remember seeing something about this a while ago, looks like it would be genuinely helpful to anyone wanting to learn guitar. I've been playing for about 7 years now, but I can't play Guitar Hero to save my life! Odd, huh? Hopefully this will get the same kind of attention that game got.

Anyway, good luck in learning! It's a lot of fun!

Do you have to buy a specific "Rocksmith" guitar, or does it work with any model? Just curious.

The strings. no matter how much i adjust the thing i can't keep them from occasionally just rattling. I've got it down to the point where its no longer a deal breaker though.

also, it does teach you how to hold the guitar when sitting or standing, but it is a little too vague about finger positions and fretting.

as long as it has a standard jack on it it works fine. I was using a crappy First Act electric. now i'm using a substantually less crappy fender squier bullet. not a first rate guitar by any means, but still very nice for a beginner.
