Just played this level earlier today. As soon as I entered it the gorgeous scenery, atmosphere and ambiance hit me. I wanted to take loads of photos but once in the sackbot this was disabled so I was only able to take 2 shots and here's one of them:

It has a great storyline and interesting characters, especially the two that follow you around. The controls and gameplay is handled well, easing the player into it. In fact I wanted more, so I can't wait for the next level to follow this. I'm truly intrigued by it all.

My only concern is the amount of decorations used, many of them would not render properly and severals time throughout it must have affected the game as quite a lot of them were being replaced with yellow exclamation marks and textures were popping in and out. So you may want to tidy up the amount of decorations. I'm guessing the thermo doesn't like it too.

But this is great debut and you got a well deserved yay and heart.

Great level! Really atmospheric with beautiful visual environment. Clever use of the sackbot tech with powers and gravity control and good narrative told through the conversation between two characters. Usually when playing levels that have this sort of game mechanic after an intial burst of fun, frustration sets in and I pop back to the pod. But here the gameplay was well implemented with a nice learning curve and fair challenge, encouraging playing through to the end. Nice dramatic conclusion as well.
Only sugestion would be to add an alternate camera option the player can use for a closer view if desired. Hearted and Yay'd.

I'm playing this right now as I type, first impressions are that it is a gorgeous level, love the ambiance. LOL, my 5 year old is here with me and says, "hold on, I got to see closer. Those are eyeball bats, they're funny" Playing on. I think you should put a counter set to "1" on those movie cameras. I triggered one 3 6 times now. controls are intuitive and feels right with the level. I like how the story is told, pretty cool. died for the last time. I try one more time. Oh, ok, I see what I have to do. Ohhhh, end of level?

Well it looks great and the story so far is good. Fix those cameras and maybe some more gameplay elements. outstanding job on it.

Yeah ok ill look into that. There will be tons more gameplay mechanics than that. This is just a story level to tell how Auru and Netzu got thier powers in the first place. so yeah you can expect more in the next Part. Ty for your review.2011-11-05 18:19:00

Part 2 of crystal chronicles may take a while. In the Process of makes a smart AI sackbot that responds to combat as well as its own set of moves. But steadily getting there .2011-11-18 19:31:00

Hi! I'm writing this feedback as I play the level, so bear with me

Intro was really amazing, well done. Love the character design, it looks great. The text confused me a bit, I'm not sure it makes a whole lot of sense ("It would not be a good idea to even touch even the slightest surface of water", when there is no previous mention of water. Maybe it's just me). Love the dialect and the scenery as you platform along, good job. At the photocrystals now. The gravity thing was great, and the story is really starting to develop now. Loving it so far.

Through the level link. Very good cutscene, I'm amazed.

And that's it.

Overall, a brilliant level. Perhaps touch up on the English (I can help if you'd like, PM me), and it's quite short, but the visuals, character design and story are all amazing. Can't wait for part 2. A happy face and a heart from me

for F4F, would you be so kind as to paly my level 'Snow Place Like Home (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=65285-Snow-Place-Like-Home)? Thanks :

On a side note, your moon also looks awesome ;D

Forgot to mention, instead of having who's saying what in square brackets, you can now change magic mouths so they display the actor's name at the top of the bubble, which looks a lot neater. something you might want to consider 2011-11-22 19:43:00

(Please note this review is written with the best intentions, and the level was liked and supported in the game. You can ignore this or use whatever feedback you feel can benefit your level series. Regardless this review will be added to my archive)

Crystalist Chronicles part one

" A brilliant concept buried by its underdeveloped gameplay"

Gameplay: The game is a platformer, as much as it looks like something else. There are no enemies and only hazards you have to avoid( one of them is an electric crystal! Shocking!). The game explores the concept of different powers, like one will activate anti gravity, allowing you to have...anti gravity. There are some glitches mainly because the game uses Sackbots. When you jump over the electric crystal for instance, the Sackbot doesn't switch layers and you fall behind the landing point( which only uses one layer) to certain death. Most of the deaths in this game felt like design failures. Besides the obvious fixes needed to the design, I feel the game really needs some enemies or monsters--try to get some combat in there and use the two companions a bit more maybe. The power ups can be used interestingly, so I will see how this fairs in the next chapter.
6/10

Graphics: The game uses some interesting blend of environments, and it really is pleasing to the eyes in some locales. Its easily the games biggest strength, but I think the sense of this world can be explored a bit more with layer glitches and perhaps...something other than crystals. But the presentation of the game is well done, including the opening.
7.5/10

Story: Is actually one of the best part of the game, while I wish the cutscenes would stop spoiling the environments. I would much rather just look at them myself , instead of the characters being forced to stop and say "oh thats beautiful" sort of ruins the moment for the player to come to this deduction himself and a waste of dialogue. They say it several times throughout the story, and it was a small nitpick I had with it, but the premise of the game is more interesting than the average LBP stage. I would love to see where this goes.
7/10

Sound: Is mostly forgettable for such a short level, but the sound effects are decent.
6/10

Replay Value: Unless you want to jump over the electric crystal again, theres not much reason to go back
3/10

Overall
6.5/10
" Decent"
I was slightly disappointed; The game has a good concept, but in reality thats all it feels like, making it feel like more of a showing for the next levels to come, because the gameplay...just isnt fun and in the end all the level does is promise me better gameplay for the next levels; It leads you into thinking something good is going to happen, and then ends abruptly. The story and graphics are the games greatest strengths and I think it deserves a try and support. With that said, I do encourage the author to continue the series, and focus on making more action packed gameplay, maybe add a bit of replay incentive and the game will be vastly improved. Its interesting, just needs a bit more development to reach its potential. For any questions just message me
