Archive: 27 posts

Inspired by the movie The Prestige, this level features gameplay where you navigate clones of yourself through different platforming challenges. 1 PLAYER preferred.

That's a pretty decent movie. Without too many more details. I'll queue this up!2011-10-28 06:35:00

Pretty tight level, you have given a good amount of time to finish it and it's not too difficult. You do need to pay attention to the environment a little to get through it which is good. How you handle failure is good also. There is never realign a feeling of being unfairly set back, and each death was my own fault. Except for a small snag on the final puzzle where the clone fell past/through the lowering platform onto the spikes.

I did think that the final few puzzles could of had a closer checkpoint. I died on the last puzzle and had to walk past three other parts I had already completed.

Overall a great level with a consistent theme that is well polished.

Although I am a little annoyed, because I was messing with a clone style stage but put it aside wile I did other things. Mine is different in concept, I guess what annoyed me is that your's is so well balanced if I do return to mine I'll need to try extra hard to make it compare.

Thanks Mr Fusion. Glad you enjoyed it. There is a couple of things in this level I was unsure about with this level and the area you refer to in the last puzzle without a check point is one of them. My dilemma was that the title that is presented to the player at the end is emitted from above so I need to keep that area clear. However I have yaken on board your feed back and have now placed a checkpoint just before the last puzzle and lowered the emitted title slightly.

Thanx for taking the time to play my level and place feedback. I have your level queued.

Got it on Queue!
UPDATE!:
This was a pretty unique level that I enjoyed. The design and the work that was put into this shows you took some time to make it have good detail. Music was enjoyable, but most of the all the type of puzzles that it had were pretty creative. Nothing was too difficult, but I did stumble on a 'wtf', at least once lol. Overall this level was well done and I think deserves more attention. F4F!

That's a very good level you made. Filled with clever ideas.

VISUALS:
The material usage is nicely made, and some pop-up objects such as the cat and the spider are a nice visual addition.

SOUND:
Great use of Tea by the Sea interactive musics.

GAMEPLAY:
The sackbot (clone) usage is a lot of fun, and the grey sackbots are other great additions. There's nothing wrong with this level, so great job.

OVERALL:
A really fun level with great use of sackbots. A yay and heart.

Everything was great, visuals, audio, gameplay, puzzles.

I really loved the clone puzzles in LBP2, and I liked your added feature of pausing them.

MMPick quality.

Enjoyed it.

Thnax Justin. The Tea by the Sea was the only music track that remotely fitted with that sort of early 1900s feel. Got your level queued. Thanx for taking the time to play and place feedback.

I've played this one last night twice and think that you've kept the whole thing very light and cheerful and glossed over the whole mass murder aspect of the cloning business. You should have a hidden section of the level where you can see a warehouse full of dead clones tucked away in jars. Or would that be too much?)

The set design and visual flairs in the level are very well done, there is a lot in this level that looks very professionally presented and smooth that it does kind of have the MM style to it. When I saw the sackbot feature in LBP2 I thought it'd be fun to do the 2x, 3x, 4x rooms where you control the sackbot in each section and have to navigate puzzle rooms. Until I saw that MM did just that in one of the side levels of the main game.

You've managed to do something similar but completely different in feel and presentation. The mechanics are very simple to learn and solid throughout the level. The challenge progression through each room was very well ordered and gave a smooth increase in complexity and challenge to the end.

Granted the puzzles in total were on the easy to moderately challenging but the inclusion of the race aspect really give it an extra level of distraction and pressure that helps those looking to maximize their score.

I'm not sure if it is intentional but in the level description you talk about alternating "currant" and to me a currant is a something to make into a jam or jelly. I'm thinking this is a typo for 'current' but again, maybe this is a colloquialism or regionalized spelling that I'm not familiar with.

This is a solid and enjoyable level that I had fun playing. Cheers.

Thanks Trindall.I will check out the spelling. I assumed it was spelt currant due to the story level called currant affairs. Thanks for playing and placing feedback.

EDIT: Yes, you are correct. I have the spelling wrong. I will go and correct it.

A brilliant level with great gameplay execution. The best checkpoints I've ever seen too.
Will feedback in more details after some more playing time.

Good level. Thought the presentation was excellent, and the premise was pretty good. Not really much more I can say that hasn't already been said. I thought that perhaps the timer at the end could have been a bit longer..... but then Mr Fusion was happy with the time..... so maybe I'm just slow

If you could play my BattleSnake level and leave feedback, that'd be stupendous. Danke

Thanks Ali_star. I was unsure how long to make the timer. I didn't want to be too generous with time so people would get something out of a second playthrough, but at the same time I was unsure how difficult people would find the puzzles. I probably should have got some friends to beta test it prior to publishing (if I had friends).

I will queue your level and play it tonight.

So, I played your level and here's the promised feedback!

The Scenery was good, all in all nothing special (except for the cat, the spider and the rabbit) but still I liked it! It did fit to the setting!
The best thing about your level was the gameplay with the cloning-element! Very nicely done and it was also very fun!

To put it in a nutshell:
I really enjoyed your level! Good work! :>

(For F4F you can decide but since it's a series...oh well, choose one...or all! )

Hearted!

What I liked:

The visuals, they reminded me greatly of the Victoria levels in the story
The puzzles were extremely nice and well thought out
The music choice was very fitting
The upbeat feel of the level, everything just made you feel good about yourself

What I didn't like:

The hamster wheel section was a little awkward as the wheel would keep spinning a bit after you got out
In the professor guy's opening speech, you spelled current wrong:

current: the flow of electricity
currant: a kind of fruity thing

F4F on either of the levels in my sig

Thanks PGdafrog. Well spotted with the spelling mistake. I will fix it now. Yeah the wheel puzzle is a bit awkward. I need to find a way for it to stop moving once you are off the wheel. Thanks for playing and placing feedback. I will queue your level.

Hey there!

Or as we say in America. . .

Hey there!

A few days ago i stumbled into the general area of LBPC looking for some entertaining new tidbits (desperately praying not to find another zombie survival game or tech demo.) and I was shockingly pleased with Stop Cloning Around. I mean it man, all around it is a great balance of every thing I like in a LBP level, things and stuff, stuff and things, it did em well.

Now I could just leave it at that, but i think i'll just elaborate on why I loved it with the assistance of colored symbols for easy comprehension.

+ P.A.C.I.N.G. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0XAI-PFQcA) I'll tell you what it means to me!

FLIPPING EVERYTHING.

Honestly? I hate it when a level brings me in to the walls of it's home, only to throw everything it owns and my head in quick succession. I mean it, everything. We've all played levels where you can barely get the concept of what your Sackbot can do before you're fighting ridiculous enemies, using a controllinator that seems to control nothing (That's deep man. . . ) and playing platforming sections which have absolutely no consistency in what they can or cannot do to you.

A much more rare occurrence, however, is to play level that slowly introduces key concepts and ideas that play off of each. Things that can be easily comprehended and tried by the player before they proceed into a more demanding situation.

(In case anyone reading this hasn't noticed there needs to be more levels like this one. Jus sayin.)

+ Good base concept. The level plays off of the challenge level from the single player campaign of LittleBigPlanet 2 and takes it to the next level by adding that special something. It jut felt brilliant right from the second I understood the basic premise.

+ I never felt like i was simply trudging through the puzzles because I had some obligation to finish the level . That happens too! I hate finishing levels that are just. . . . . fuuuuuuuublrhrjgdfsdfb boring. Tragically boring. Levels that have potential but never do anything interesting with their concepts. The puzzles were so great and continually satisfying to solve. Here's to you!

Bottom line. Stuff's good man.

It could probably use some more danger or threats throughout, but it was pretty fantastic regardless.

F4F: (Containment) it's in my signature, and now that high scores are being tracked again, it's alot of fun.

And the award for feedback of the year goes to..... Nightshade games. Wow Thanks for such an awesome post mate. It made me laugh out loud. You have a really original sense of humour. Glad you liked it. I also put a lot of emphasis on the pace of a level and how to "teach the controls" to the player along the way.

Thanks for playing and placing feedback. I will queue your level now. Look for my feedback in the next couple of days.

OK this might sound a bit desperate, and I guess it is. You played my level as part of the F4F and left feedback saying that you'd got stuck very early on. I replied to your post to tell you how to do it and I was wondering if you are going to play my level all the way through so that you can leave full feedback. It's OK if you don't, I just like to know how to improve (apart from the fact that I suck at making good visuals ).2011-11-11 19:19:00

A stunning level that left me pondering how certain elements had been achieved. It all worked perfectly, no bugs, no glitches and was a delight to play. I've seen a few levels wherein you control the movement of a partner sackbot to negotiate hazards and open pathways as MM did in the story levels but nothing on a par with this. I could've fired those sackbots out of cannons all night! Also has the most splendid checkpoints I've ever seen on LBP! This combined with your last level The Wheels of Revolution is a remarkable pair of levels showing a creator that has truly hit top form. This level has inspired me to try and make something along this genre lines myself, expect loads of tech queries sometime soon!? Inspirational stuff, hearted!2011-11-21 20:16:00
