Batman Arkham city part 1

Archive: 4 posts

This is my version of batman arkham city, Its a fighting game with somewhat real sackbot punching, there are 4 characters to choose from there are two different batmans, catwoman and robin. It took effort to do this so you wont be wasting your time by queuing this up. Its actually pretty good, cool page worthy. So queue, rate and review

I played this not really expecting much (no offense!) and was actually pleasantly surprised! My only criticisms are that you may need to define story a bit more (the sudden appearance of baddies with a hostage felt a bit tacked on. Maybe a cutscene at the very start of the level?), spend a bit more time on scenery, and brighten the level a bit more. You can still give the impression of 'darkness' without having to make everything difficult to see.

Perhaps with regards to the start of the level there could be some sort of sequence where you're running through a building fighting baddies and doing general platforming, and then you reach the room where the hostage is being held? You could have her hanging in the middle of the room over a pit of spikes, all tied up, and you've got to move something underneath her for her to land on when you cut her rope with a batarang.

And maybe there could be a time limit on it?

Just something to mix up the gameplay a little! Otherwise, a good start!

looks cool, but quite dark. It's a hard thing to judge, but I've queued it up!

EDIT: I like what you have, it is a little dark though. I was impressed with the opening scene but was looking forward to some more jumping between buildings. Your enemy design is good, but your actual combat could use some work, I just stood in place and held L1 in the direction of the bad guys (I think I did actually throw a guy which was cool). But I didn't take any damage and was a little unsure of how I was supposed to fight.

I like how large you have made your stage, but there is a little too much walking, and on that note; you should try and block off the left part of the stage when you land, because it's just open streets. The climbing section is also interesting, but your ledge placement seems a little off, as I really struggled to grab the top one. I was disappointed that when I jumped off of the Bank I didn't fly like the first time. The driving section was also a little out of place. The concept is there but you just drive until you hit a wall (and the bike flipped over).

I think that you have the makings of a really solid stage here if you work on refining some of the ideas you are putting forward, as an example; you could start like you do on the roof, then see the kidnapping, and have to run along a few rooftops and use the climb thing, maybe a bounce pad... etc. then running toward the edge you jump off... and do that cool dive, landing in the midst of the bad guys.

The Bank part could do with some more platforming to get back to the rooftops like climbing up a few buildings.

And the motorbike section could involve layer switching to avoid cars...

Also, on the menu screen I was sat in the red controlinator, but was moving the blue highlight. Anyway I liked what you have done and by no means was it terrible, it has a lot of potential and I hope the next part expands on the story you have set up.
