LBP creating Future Designers?

Archive: 8 posts

So, I was thinking about this for awhile now. Do you guys ever wonder if the levels we play on LBP could become video games? I see levels from Luos_83, steve_big_guns, Special_D, dajdaj03, Dortr, etc and think to myself, what if the people were to one day become designers/concept artist?

When I got LBP, I thought that it was just going to be a simple game but it have proven to be more impressive than what I thought. LBP2 is intensely growing with occasional new ideas, game play, etc. Do you ever wonder if the little youngster of LBP ever thought of being architects, artist, video game designers, etc?

Well, though Im 16 and do wish to one day be an architect, several of the people you mentioned are already well into their adult years, and have therfore already made their career choices. For those that havent, I suppose LBP can help; I mean, you can basically do anything in LBP, if your good at creating and love doing it than hey, why not do something similar for the rest of your life?2011-10-25 03:02:00

yep, all the time. i've mentioned to a few people before that i believe LBP is the most important Video game to ever grace a console. we constantly hear about the violence in games and the lethargy they instil in our youngsters and yet here we are looking at a game that creates artists, cartoonist, musicians, game designers, architects and even teaches mathematics in the form of boolean logic... just like Lego inspired a nation of builders and architects for my generation, this game is 'important' and a game that should be recommended to anyone with a child

My family thinks i am creating a Final Fantasy game lol But i am just a wanna be RPG maker right now; Really I want to be a concept artist... i think thats my dream job anyway. RPGs typically let me use my imagination the most, but when it comes to an actual career, its hard to say turnbased RPGs will still be relevant to the era in the future; They barely are this generation. I think LBP2 gave me self-conformation i can stick with long projects, but I got to see how good it turns about before i even consider gaming as a career.2011-10-25 20:15:00

LBP acts as an expresser of a sub category for the art of games.
Before LBP came out I had no idea how to properly show or physicalize what was in my head, I kind of sucked at drawing (I still do) and my works of writing were crummy and poorly written.
After playing it I can definitely say that it has improved upon those small ideas in my head (and my story writing, surprisingly).
Before, I had no interest in making games.
But now... Some day I do hope to make proper games that have been sparked by my time with LBP.

I have my eye on a few people I can see making games... Rocksauron being one of them and another person who will not be named.
Is it cold in here by the way I need a Radiator that sings Lyrics that I like. Anyone know where I can get one?

Well, if you want a wonky bridge. Or a square house, or a unpretty level about Onions, Then Yes! I am the designer of the future.

In all honestly though I would expect that good creators are likely to be good designers.

Awww FluffySpazz, how incredibly sweet of you to include me because that is exactly what I would love to do! Argh, why so many hearted trolls though Any design job for entertainment would be awesome. Story writer, character design, gameplay mechanics developer, music writer, concept artist, graphic designer.... just anything where I could use all these ideas I have always had for people to see. In LBP I like to do it all, show that I'm versatile, show that I can make a full production by myself and feel that I show that I can do a fairly decent job at each part despite LBP's restrictions and limitations. It's always so inspiring to see all these creators doing the same too, and all for free with hardly any incentive or rewards. Seeing levels that just push the limits of whats possible and seeing innovative ideas that have never been used is so motivating.

As rtm is saying though... It's incredibly unlikely :/ and I understood awhile ago that I needed to get real and understand that I probably wouldn't ever get a job like those. So LBP is like a cheap and easy way to both express myself and get all these ideas out there and have people actually see and play them.... before settling down as a.. language arts teacher.. :/
