Magic Mouth Subtitles....

Archive: 6 posts

Ok, so, what I'm trying to do is have a magic mouth in my level, but instead of having a speech bubble pop up, I would like subtitles to appear. The option to have subtitles on the magic mouth is greyed out. What should I do?2011-10-22 18:48:00

Magic Mouths only allow for Subtitles, when they are placed on a Sequencer.

It strikes me as silly, but that's just how it works.

Ok, thanks. That is pretty dumb. So if I wanted to set one up with a sequencer, would I just place the magic mouth on it with subtitles on? Or would I have to change the speed of the sequencer/hook it up to a battery to make it turn on?

I think I may have misunderstood your question, but I believe the answer you're looking for, is just that Magic Mouths work on the Seq the same way anything else does. Subtitled Text will appear for as long as the Magic Mouth is stretched along the Seq. Placing the MM elsewhere and just wiring a battery from the Seq, will not allow Subtitles to work.2011-10-22 21:19:00

Ohhhh! Alright, thanks. I thought in order to get a sequencer to work you needed to hook it up to a battery or something like that, and wire the magic mouth to it or something, but now I understand that you just put the MM on it like you would put it on anything else. Thanks a lot for the help!!! (Between LBPCentral and the Playstation forums, you've helped me more times than I can count, lol.)

I always hate when people say "wire the mouth to a battery" as it is the opposite... Anyways, don't take it personnal.

Here's a tip to give an on/off function to things that don't have on-off functions AND to make magic-mouths subtitle-able.
Place a microchip. On it, place a selector with 2 inputs. Hook the 2nd output to the 1st input. Place a button outside the chip and hook it to the selector's second input. Now when the input is on, the selector's second input is on. That just makes sure analogue signal is not kept. Then, place a sequencer set to positional. Hook the selector's second input to it and place the magic-mouth or the movie camera or the battery or anything else on the sequencer. Now you have a on-off behavior for a subtitled magic mouth.
