Your Own Reviews.

Archive: 10 posts

Yeah, i know what you're thinking. Your own reviews isn't a good title for a review thread, but trust me..keep reading. If you liked a level, want to review it, but you don't wanna start up a thread? Then put a review here. I'm tired of the amount of threads advertsing reviews, when they won't play your level.I will, and i'll come back to this thread with Feedback, I won't record it, and i won't do Personality: /10; Wow Factor /10 etc. etc.
I'll just say some stuff you need to improve. And hey, if you see another level here, that you are going to play, come back here and leave a review.
So, Let's see who will get the first review!Just post yor level's LBP.me Link here, and I'll Hop to it!

If you wouldn't mind, could you take a look at this level as well?

I spent so very long hours on this, reviews on what I need to fix to make it even better would be appreciated, I'll gladly review anything of yours in exchange if you wish!

Played this one. It's obvious you put some time into the level.

Unfortunately, there were a lot of design issues.

I moved forward while going up the first elevator, and fell out, landing on the bottom with no way to get up.

There were several areas, and even one where you mention that, if you fall out of a contraption or something, you have to start the level over.

As a designer, you can't punish the player for doing something you didn't intend.

In fact, that is your job as a creator to make sure you have thought of everything.

In my first level I ever made, I finished, and invited a friend to try it. The first thing they did was grab a tree I made, and it tipped over. I never stopped to think people would randomly jump on a tree to swing on it.

But those are the things you have to think of. Sometimes, it adds tons of creating time and logic to implement gameplay that is unbreakable, but if you want people to associate your name with quality level making, its something you simply can not have on your level.

I wasn't able to finish because the lock was stuck. The first one seemed struck, or I wasn't doing something right. All the others aligned with no issues.

I have some other personal nitpicks, but those were the biggest issues.

Well hopefully, the constructive criticism will be some you can consider. Hope it was helpful in some way.

Take it easy, catch you around.

Thanks much for giving your thoughts!
I could have sworn that I had tested all the bugs out of the level, but I guess not, you're right, it's just impossible to think of every possible thing on your own.

I need to get my DLC's downloaded again, but once I do, I will edit and fix those issues.

I'm a little stumped on the lock however... I have it set up with antigravs and movers with a toggle, and if you hit the first pin with the key before moving it it jams the lock. I need a way to have it reset every time you leave the lock, but I have no idea whatsoever as to how to implement that and still work the door at the end?

What were the other personal nitpicks as well if you don't mind? Be as harsh as you want, it helps me improve and fix issues with the current level.

You are definitely right, it is impossible to think of everything on your own, that's why you ask friends to play it. Not just one friend, as many as possible. Not only that, get 3 of them and play in 4 player. People play differently in multiplayer. They act like fools usually. Also, cameras get all out of sorts.

I am probably doing something dangerous in my new level by making it a level about Exploring. That means people will be trying to go places I never thought of, or use the power UPS in multiplayer in ways I never considered. The entire level needs tons of beta testing. Wouldn't do any good to publish the level and have lots of folks posting pics of themselves out of the level

So, my biggest recommendation, beta test with friends or strangers as much as possible.

As for the nitpicks, sorry, I've been working late and been playing late, so, just don't remember, but if you send me an invite, I'll play the level with you and give you my two cents if you want. But nitpicks are just that, just my idea how I would do it - or a preference, its not right or wrong, just an opinion to consider.

Anyway, invite me if you'd like, just remind me your from LBPC.

Please let me know what you think of my skate video made on LBP 2.

http://i.lbp.me/v/0k-fzh

And If you want a nice relaxing level to play with friends or just to mess around in play this level here http://i.lbp.me/v/07qjf4
Its a Skate park that uses a custom made skateboard and not one of those over used boards in the items page.

I would appreciate it if you played my levels and told me what you thought of them.
