Cybernetic Adventures Sigma: Game Zone (Honorable mention)

Archive: 21 posts

The leader of the Mavericks- Oops, I mean the semifinal installment of the Cybernetic Adventures level series is finally here! In this level, you'll use additional buttons to control certain obstacles such as rotate the machines and move the gargoyle face and use its roar. The level also features everything the series has, which are layer glitches, cinematic sequences, a controlinator gameplay, and boss fight. The visuals of this level is jam-packed with neon color changes, animations, and sticker usage (thanks for the sticker material object, Mm).

NOTE: Because this level features additional button controls that could cause conflict in multiplayer, this level is for one player only.

Now all that's left in the series is...OMEGA!! It'll feature a intro movie and 3 part levels, as what I planned, so it'll probably be published at the end of the year. For now, hope you all enjoy this second to last level of the Cybernetic Adventures Saga.

Thanks to Bender_82 and Jamestastic for beta play testing this level.

Really good level. First of all great border around the levels icon, on a nice looking planet. That's just usually a good sign of what's to come in the level. I really liked the use of squares in the design. It was reminiscent of retro games. You also made good use of the backdrop, especially during the grapple hook section. The obstacle style with controlinator controlled elements was a little different, and you made sure each obstacle was unique from each other, and really stepped it up on the last section before the boss with the floating head. It provided good build up, and I even felt a little tenseness on the boss fight, which is great. I personally feel that numerous, lengthy movies take away from replay value, but I see this level is part of a series, so it's probably not an issue. The level had good length, and was quite fun.

Greetings Justin,at first at all thank you for play my new level also thanks for the nice feedback, well,I just played your level and this is my personal review :

The GAMEPLAY is very innovated ,full of entertained obstacles, the fun is in every corner and the secret items are waiting for be found in this cyber paradise. The fun is increased thanks to all the interactive platforms and the epic boss battle.
The MUSIC is a great choice in this case, this music really make us feel each situation form the game play and the great CINEMATICS cutscenes, all of these cutscenes tell us the action story behind the platforms, and show how important is the teamwork.
The GRAPHICS and DETAILS are huge, starting for the well executed 3D effect to good use for background, andI personally like how you made retro effect combined with virtual reallity effect.
The LOGIC is very well made, nothing bad in it.
Deffinitively a level series dont must be missed if you like platforms, overall good level, great work.

Thanks, Unnatural and ALS_TheGamer, for the detailed feedbacks (and also my planet, Unnatural). Glad you both really enjoyed it. I updated this level with additional stickers, plus I completely forgot to change the recommend players setting in this level to one, so that has been settled (I thought I did a while ago, but I was wrong. At least the maximum of players at the start helped give this level more plays at the good start).

Hi Justin.

Played this level yesterday. I liked the style.... which was a very odd, random style... but it worked. I also liked the variation in the puzzles. The gravity orb being a particular favourite of mine (I liked trying to stay afloat for as long as I could) . It wasn't massively challenging, but it wasn't massively easy either. I think the balance was just right. Not too easy that it became boring, and not too difficult that it became frustrating.

I think the boss battle was good, as far as boss battles go (I'm not a fan of bosses). I think this is the only section of the level where it could do with a little more variation, instead of just doing the same thing 3/4 times in a row.

Other than that, good stuff. Will be looking forward to playing the next in the series, and seeing what ideas you can come up with.

If you would be so kind to play my newest level, BattleSnake 3000 and leave feedback in my thread, that would be awesome. It's COMPLETELY bombed, but please don't be put off by the incredibly low amount of plays, I actually believe it's my best level yet. Hopefully I can drum up a few more plays, otherwise I'm not gonna bother making any more levels. Taking months to create a level isn't worth it for only 3 flipping plays.

Anywho, the level can be played in single or multiplayer (local or online), so you can play which ever mode you want, but idealy I would like feedback on the multiplayer if you can.

Links are in my sig.

Thanks.

Hiya, just managed to play your wonderful level today, and I. AM. HOOKED! It really is a testament to the depth of the creation tools, but also highlights your talents as a creator; everything is soaked in a beautifully realised and masterfully crafted neo-world, to say nothing of the very consistent humour!

The simplicity of the concept, like all the best levels, is disguised by how perfectly it's all executed; the challenge evolves at just the right pace, enough to learn how to utilise each new mechanic before pushing you into increasingly more dangerous situations.
The level almost feels like it won't end, and I was surprised to see how much you crammed into one level, so if there was any level linking occurring, I wasn't aware of it!

Gameplay, Visuals and Story all took centre-stage in equal measure, with not one outshining another. The balance was impeccable.

In conclusion, I would be honoured to revisit this beautiful world, and indeed plan to. Awesome job, man.

Another fun level dude.
Your random visuals usually work against you, but it was great in this level.
For some reason they all fit together with the theme, sort of like old school 2D meets new school 3D with the pixel and background working in contrast.
As always, the gameplay is the stand out feature in my mind, you always have something unique in all your levels, which is hard to achieve.
The cutscenes are cool, but are hampering the replay value imo.
Your play count is low for this amount of quality. I'm not sure why.

I highly recommend this level (and the series) to everyone. You're missing out!

Other notes:
+ The magic mouths with the actor's names on it is really cool.
Is this a new feature???

- A few camera niggles, but none that really hampered the gameplay, just the overall flow of the level.

- Hard to see the "L2" sticker. Make sure it's easy to see.
I had to remove it to read it.

+- Let's dance!
Cool section, but I would speed up the laser's emitters a tad.

- It's "phew" not "few".
During "Few, my arms are getting tired"

+ Mixing of the 2D and 3D visuals in general were a highlight.

I just updated this level with some of your suggestions. I made the L2 sticker much better to see with the sticker material, I adjusted the lasers in the dance minigame, and I changed the 'Few' to 'Phew'. Also, I added some additional visuals, including the LBPC sticker at the end of the level (I knew this level forgot something that all of my LBP2 has). About the actor's name in the speech bubble, yes this new magic mouth tweak option is the new features in update 1.06. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for playing my level JA.
I checked out your latest installment in your cybernetic adventures series and enjoyed it. Once again you managed to cram a lot into one level, nice to see as with the previous installments a change in atmosphere, visuals and environment to help sustain interest. Some great gameplay mechanics especially with combination of moving obstacles via the triangle button and swinging/height adjusting with the grapple hook. Nice to see you continue with camera angles that give a greater sense of scale and granduer to the scenery in certain areas though those MGS materials always make the place feel stark and lacking in detail, almost tron like? but maybe that was the vibe you were emulating?
I must confess I enjoyed the previous installment more, the level was tighter, more fluid with better mini games....here in the gamezones the minigames should have been the star as in the previous level but I didn't get that wow feeling in any of the sections, only the dance mini game had that feel. The dialogue and characters were once again the weak point. The character that greets you is basically Avalon and often the dialogue isn't poignant leading to clicking through mouths, minor points given the overall successful implementation of some good gameplay but if addressed could make for an improved playing experience given that the series is based around a story narrative.
Yay'd

First of all, great set design. With the use of the neon materials and 3d glitch you have masterfully created a tokyo type enviroment. Add to that some cleverly crafted cut scenes to introduce you to the level and you have me hooked. From there you encounter different challenges using the controlinator and grappling hook. The gameplay challenges you have designed with the controlinator are top class. Excellent job. Hearted and smiley faced.2011-11-02 07:43:00

Thanks for the feedbacks, Little_Big_Playe, Enochroot and MicGorbachev. Glad you enjoyed it. I updated this level with some changes. First up is the additional visuals that I added more stickers. Also, I noticed that a player has a score of 15k, which is impossible to score in this level, but I realized the cutscene involving the dance minigame doesn't have an one counter (that made him play the dance minigame twice or thrice in one level play). I fixed that by adding it, and just to have us try to get around that player's 15k score, I doubled the points obtain throughout the elevator section.2011-11-05 01:04:00

Hey there interesting level.

I didn't get very far on it though as i was short of time and kept dying because i was rushing.

I really liked the theme and the retro look you used and the challenges were quite entertaining.

I'll have to replay this at some point.

Thanks for giving specific feedback on my level, very helpful.
I played through your series (which was in my queue, but I hadn't gotten there) and while I enjoyed them all, this was my favorite.
Background: probably the best use of the Cosmos background I've seen yet. The additions you made using the 3D glitch really set the scene.
Level Layout: You keep the player moving in interesting ways.
Puzzles: Love them! The gravity orb was my favorite, but generally everything you did with the remote DCS (if I've got that right) was a fun addition.
My only suggestion is with the gravity orb, where you go into the big dragon mouth. Getting there is a good challenge, then turning around and going back felt kind of long. Maybe if the platforms changed and you could get back out of the mouth a little quicker; or some sort of long rail that you ride back; or a teleporter that you activate.
It's a long level, but doesn't feel long - good pace. I'll be waiting for the final installment!

So far, I'm 65% done with Cybernetic Adventures Omega, so it'll possibly be published before Christmas. By the way, anyone create really good musics in LBP2? If so, check out the "Super-Epic Final Boss Battle Music Contest" in the Community Contests section of this site. Your music can be heard in Omega part 3. Find out how in that thread.

Hi there! Thank you for your feedback regarding my level, here's me returning the favour. I'm writing this review as I play it (and not loooking at my computer screen), so bear with me and my no doubt huge amount of typos xD

First thing I noticed is that it should be "Were are our teammates" instead of "where is our teammates". Nothing major, just nitpicking as I always do. Intro didn't make a huge load of sense as I've only played Alpha, but that's not your fault. There's a lot of text to get through which gets a bit tiresome, but I think I'm onto the level now. Moving the platfroms with the right stick was great, well thought out. Onto the up and down platforms, loving it so far. Collecting the 2D objects was fun, though I didn't get very many. the bit afterwards seems a bit empt, but you're not there very long. Onto the in/out movers, who told you I love red? It's making my hands go red as I type this xD

the grappling hook seemed a bit out of place just lying there randomly, perhaps create a little stand for it or put it right in front of the scoreboard. Moving along the moving platforms while moving the barriers in and out was great fun, and you made excellent use of the Cosmos background, congrats. Instant happy face for Rock yout body Rock

Dance mimigame was great, though it wasn't very responsive. Not sure if it was my controller or not. Big evil face, dun dun duun. Turns out he was friendly, cool. Gravity orb section is simply fantastic, nothing wrong with it at all and great fun to play through. My favourite bit so far.

Into the gold temple bit. Outside looks awesome, love the ffect with the pixellated gargoyles outside. Controlling the barking statue was again great, only minor issue is that it would've been nice to not use the left stick, because if you died it ment you had to walk through everythign you'd already done, stop to bring the statue and it took a while, but again, you massive issue.

In the boss fight, Megabyte died on his own plasma after I hit the button, which amde the cutscene look a bit odd. boss battle was otherwise great, I love boss fights and always feel there aren't enough, so thanks for that.

Final cutscene was also good.

Overall, a great level. The gameplay was great and the visuals were very good also. Fix a few of the very minor things I've mentioned aand you'll be grand. A heart and a happy face from me.

You gave me this level for F4F, but instead I played your whole series. And I'm glad I did, it was just awesome! Really good story, nice visuals, boss battle at the end of each level, fun platforming. It really kept me entertained for a few hours.

But anyway, just about this level now. The theme of the level was pretty cool, don't see it getting used often. Was also pretty fun that you could move platforms, flip gravity and all those things. My favorite was probably the part with the gargoyle. Can't really say why but I just liked it very much. Boss battle was also great again, though I died a few times because I jumped or flipped gravity at the wrong times. Also only found 4 of the secret things. Found 5 or all 6 in the other levels so you've hidden them well in this one.

Only thing I didn't like is that I have to wait for the last part to be released. I can't wait to play it!

So yeah great job on this series, liked and hearted all of the levels so far and you also earned a creator heart.

Hey, everyone. Just to let everyone know that Omega is scheduled to be published around next week. There has been slowdowns making it earlier, but it's almost done (like about 94% done, overall). For now, I just uploaded the video of the first seven levels of the "Cybernetic Adventures" series. Check it out.

Also, I'll be uploading the trailer of Omega soon.

Hey, sorry for the lateness on my F4F!
Just played Sigma and I found it to be awesome! One of the most fun LBP2 platformers I've played, I really liked the part with the gargoyle-moving platforms and the gravity ball! Loved the characters too!
I'm so going to play the whole series this weekend AND will be waiting eagerly for Omega!
Not much more to say other than that! Congratulations on the great job!!
