Turn Sackbots Black And Blue

Archive: 11 posts

I Tried posting this in the level showcase...But decided it'd be better to get some feedback on it! Basically, it's a mini-game Sackbots fall from the sky, and you have to throw them at the buttons on eitherside. There's low gravity, and two bouncepads. As the name suggests the screen is Blue! I hope you have fun .

Ok well I got to play your level, and here is what I thought:
1st off it was really dark so it was kinda hard to tell where I was at most of the time, maybe adding some kind of light that follows the players would help?
was very blank and empty feeling on the design of the minigame, i didn't know if that's what you were going for but there was nothing in the looks department that particularly got my attention.
The actual minigame itself could maybe ne spruced up, like if you were to add some elements or obstacles to make it more challenging to get the sackbots to the button.

sorry I know this sounds like I'm really hating on the level but i just want to see it become something great! for now I didn't give it a dislike or a like because if you plan on fixing things I want to rate it after playing through when your completely finished with it (:

So basically:
Add Objects to make it less blank,
Make the level Brighter,
Make something eyecatching?
and Objects to make it more difficult?
Hmm... Okey
I'll get around to that....at the moment i'm more focused on my new level

exactly, like it's off to a good start but it could defietly be great with some improvements, you could also look at other great minigames that people of littlebigplanet have made or even amazing minigames from other games, like for example, if you've ever played any mario party games you'll notice that they have their minigames, but all of them have a colorful theme to them that makes it feel like your actually in that part of the world, but playing a fun game while your there! One in particular i remember has you press the same directions as the guy behind you and if you get it wrong you lose, now that could still be a fun game, but they gave it a theme and put it on a pirate ship out in the ocean, the guy using the flags is the captain and the players are standing on planks, when they get it wrong the captain drops that persons plank and the plunge into the sea.

I finally got round to playing this. I'm always willing to give a few new creators (regardless of skill as long as there's effort) and underplayed levels a chance. I left a bit of feedback in a review on your level. But I'm going to have to agree with jjdragon and below is the feedback I left with a bit more detail added in:

Nice gameplay concept but could definitely be improved on. The style is too dark & with the outlines from the other sackbots it's hard to distinguish yourself from them. In fact I would completely do away with the whole dark x-ray outline style of it. Remember LBP is a very tactile world and this detail is completely lost with the use of the darkmaterial blocking it all out.I found myself constantly jumping around to try and see myself and tell me apart from the sackbots that were on the ground and those that were falling.

After a while it became very tedious. But a few more platforms in its design, more work on the visual side of things (how it looks, theme, choice of materials) & targets at different heights giving different points would really spice the gameplay up. You could even place a big target at the top that gives you the most points and put an obstacle or hazard in front of it. This both gives the player an incentive and a challenge. Targets moving in a pattern or up and down, left , right would make it more dynamic. Have you ever played target smash on Smash Bros Brawl? You could proabably take ideas from that. I don't hate your level but you've clearly put some effort in.

So to summarise:

Revamp the style (too dark)
Add more variety (visuals/design, platforms, targets, obstacles etc as part of the gameplay)
Research other mini games

I also read your profile, don't be put off by all the amazing levels already out there (I was, but time and patience is your best friend). Everyone has to start from somewhere, so keep it up. I would love to see this expanded upon.

Updated the levek

It's actually a lot better since you've updated. But I still say there's room for improvement. Bit more work on design needed & how it looks. Expand your ideas. BUT the fact that you've made changed and you're doing F4F shows effort, commitment and willingness to learn and improve. I can appreciate that. Like jjdragon said... 'You're off to good start'.

Like others, I agree that there is room for improvement, but the ideas are there.

Firstly - there's no real theme to the level. I think, if you're gonna make a level like this, you need a bit of a theme. Secondly, there's no real introduction... you just get plonked right into the action. I also thought that perhaps hitting the targets could become more difficult as the time progresses - have moving switches, more obstacles.... even powerups perhaps, a way to hinder your opponent.

For a first level, it's a pretty good effort. I think presentation is a hard thing to get right. I mean, my first level looks pretty bad in places, even though I did spend a lot of time on it. I was still quite proud of my efforts though.

If you could play my BattleSnake level and leave feedback, that'd be great. Thanks
